Herbal medicines are now commonly used all over the world and this has increased global demand. Quality, safety, and efficacy of these drugs have become a serious concern. This review presents the medicinal plants cited in folklore that are used to treat gastrointestinal ulcers. Electronic databases, that is, Web of Science, PubMed, Scopus, and Google Scholar were searched to identify the gastroprotective effects of each plant. Ethnopharmacological studies have reported various botanical products with antiulcer activities, but there has been limited scientific research, presenting clinical data to validate the efficacy and safety of medicinal herbs as gastroprotective agents. Most studies centered on pharmacological properties of medicinal herbs as used animals models. This information has prompted us to compile a list of the medicinal herbs cited in folklore with gastroprotective activity. 相似文献

The incidence of various types of cancer is increasing globally. To reduce the critical side effects of cancer chemotherapy, naturally derived compounds have been considered for cancer treatment. Gymnosperms are a group of plants found worldwide that have traditionally been used for therapeutic applications. Paclitaxel is a commercially available anticancer drug derived from gymnosperms. Other natural compounds with anticancer activities, such as pinostrobin and pinocembrin, are extracted from pine heartwood, and pycnogenol and enzogenol from pine bark. Gymnosperms have great potential for further study for the discovery of new anticancer compounds. This review aims to provide a rational understanding and the latest developments in potential anticancer compounds derived from gymnosperms. 相似文献

In this paper, conjugate heat transfer from a circular cylinder with a heat source to a non‐Newtonian power‐law fluid is studied. Numerical calculations are carried out in an unconfined computational domain for Reynolds numbers (), power‐law indices (), and Prandtl numbers () with different heat source values. The pressure coefficient, value, and position of maximum temperature inside the cylinder and the local and average Nusselt number are calculated. Also, the effects of Re, Pr, n, and heat source value on the thermal characteristics in the solid cylinder and the fluid around it are studied and discussed. 相似文献

The autoxidation of purified fish oil in the presence of different concentrations of o‐hydroxyl, o‐methoxy, and alkyl ester derivatives of p‐hydroxybenzoic at 35–55 °C was evaluated by different kinetic parameters including the stabilizing factor as a measure of effectiveness, the oxidation rate ratio as a measure of strength, and the antioxidant activity which combines the two parameters. Methyl gallate as the most reactive antioxidant participated only in the main reaction of chain termination (ROO· + InH ROOH + In·). Gallic acid, ethyl protocatechuate, protocatechuic acid, vanillic acid, and syringic acid, were able to protect fish oil against oxidation in terms of the extent of their participation in the pro‐oxidative side reactions of chain initiation (InH + ROOH In· + RO· + H2O and InH + O2 In· + HOO·) and the antioxidative side reactions of chain propagation (In· + ROO· In‐OOR and In· + In· products). 相似文献
