Hydrodynamics study of a fast liquid–liquid oxidation process with in situ gas production in microreactors

Hydrodynamics characteristics of a fast and highly exothermic liquid–liquid oxidation process with in situ gas production in microreactors were studied using a newly developed experimental method. In the adipic acid synthesis through the K/A oil (the mixture of cyclohexanol and cyclohexanone) oxidation with nitric acid, bubble generation modes were divided into four categories. The gas production became more intensive, unstable, even explosive with increasing the oil phase feed rate and the temperature. A novel automatic image processing method was developed to monitor the instantaneous velocity online by tracking the gas–liquid interface. The axial velocity at the same location was unstable due to the changing gas production rate. Furthermore, the actual residence time was obtained easily with being only 36% of the space–time minimally, beneficial for establishing accurate kinetics and mass transfer models with time participation. Finally, an empirical correlation was developed to predict the actual residence time under different conditions.     

Spectral radiance reconstruction from trichromatic camera responses based on orthogonal test and regularized algorithm

Reconstruction of spectral information based on multi‐channel image system is a significant problem in color reproduction, detection, and recognition. A spectral radiance reconstruction from trichromatic digital camera responses is researched in this article. The mapping relationship between the trichromatic imaging system response and the incident spectral radiance is analyzed. Then, in order to remove the ill‐posedness of the problem, a regularized constraint solution model of spectral radiance reconstruction matrix is established. And the spectral radiance can be reconstructed by spectral radiance reconstruction matrices and trichromatic imaging system response. Finally, the spectral radiance reconstruction matrix is estimated by the system radiometric calibration experiment. The input radiance is offered by a LCD display. A 3‐factor and 9‐level orthogonal test is designed for the calibration experiment, and a test set of 24 colors is used for precision analysis. The results show that the average relative mean error of our method is 8.69%, it is lower than that of Wiener filtering method by 2.84%. The method can reconstruct spectral radiance information effectively.     

“Thank heavens for the lease”: histories of shared ownership

Drawing on and developing Kingdon’s multiple streams analysis, this article examines the development of one aspect of the UK’s low cost home ownership programme: shared ownership. We demonstrate how key human and non-human policy entrepreneurs were able to set the agenda from 1973–1983 in favour of shared ownership; they neutralized the alternatives, while retaining some of their instruments; and solved a number of early problems by bringing key players into the programme. Our data-sets include a range of archival material and elite interviews. The policy entrepreneurs included John Stanley (who was the housing minister in the First Thatcher government), the National Federation of Housing Associations, and the Building Societies Association. Our development of the multiple streams analysis is to argue that documents, including the lease, act as policy entrepreneurs in their own right. The lease was central to the development of shared ownership and its transformation into a model lease enrolled other organizations, most critically the building societies.

In-situ synthesis of zirconium oxycarbide by electroreduction of ZrO2/C in molten salt

Homogenous ZrC_xO_y powders have been successfully synthesized by in-situ electro-reduction of solid ZrO₂–C composite precursors in molten CaCl₂. The effect of applied cell voltage and molar ratio of ZrO₂ to C on preparation of ZrC_xO_y were investigated. The reduction pathway of the composite electrode was studied based on the analysis of intermediate products using X-ray diffraction (XRD) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The results show that ZrO₂ is firstly converted to CaZrO₃. The resulting CaZrO₃ is then reduced to ZrC_xO_y. The ZrC_xO_y formation is dramatically influenced by electrolysis voltage and molar ratio of ZrO₂ to C: a higher cell voltage and lower molar ratio of the ZrO₂ to C are more preferable for the formation of ZrC_xO_y powder. Homogenous ZrC_xO_y powders with particle size of ~100 nm are synthesized by ZrO₂/C starting elemental powders in CaCl₂ molten salt at 1123 K for more than 3 h, when the cell voltage is 3.0 V and the molar ratio of the ZrO₂ to carbon starting materials is 1:1.0.     

基于回归分析的玉米膜下滴灌适宜土壤含水量及阈值研究

为确定半干旱地区膜下滴灌条件下玉米生长与土壤含水量间的关系,利用通榆灌溉试验站2018年度玉米膜下滴灌灌溉制度试验数据,分析不同灌溉制度下的玉米产量,并对不同灌溉制度下的玉米株高、茎粗、叶面积等指标进行回归求解,得到了玉米各生育阶段的适宜土壤含水量及其阈值.玉米膜下滴灌各生育阶段的适宜土壤含水量区间:苗期65％—75％、拔节期70％—80％、抽雄吐丝期75％—85％、灌浆期75％—85％、乳熟期70％—80％;水分胁迫阈值:苗期50％、拔节期57％、抽雄吐丝期66％、灌浆期60％、乳熟期58％.
