Modified rice straw/Fe3O4/polycaprolactone nanocomposites (ORS/Fe3O4/PCL-NCs) have been prepared for the first time using a solution casting method. The RS/Fe3O4-NCs were modified with octadecylamine (ODA) as an organic modifier. The prepared NCs were characterized by using X-ray powder diffraction (XRD), Scanning electron microscopy (SEM), Transmission electron microscopy (TEM), Thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR). The XRD results showed that as the intensity of the peaks decreased with the increase of ORS/Fe3O4-NCs content in comparison with PCL peaks, the Fe3O4-NPs peaks increased from 1.0 to 60.0 wt. %. The TEM and SEM results showed a good dispersion of ORS/Fe3O4-NCs in the PCL matrix and the spherical shape of the NPs. The TGA analysis indicated thermal stability of ORS/Fe3O4-NCs increased after incorporation with PCL but the thermal stability of ORS/Fe3O4/PCL-NCs decreased with the increase of ORS/Fe3O4-NCs content. Tensile strength was improved with the addition of 5.0 wt. % of ORS/Fe3O4-NCs. The antibacterial activities of the ORS/Fe3O4/PCL-NC films were examined against Gram-negative bacteria (Escherichia coli) and Gram-positive bacteria (Staphylococcus aureus) by diffusion method using nutrient agar. The results indicated that ORS/Fe3O4/PCL-NC films possessed a strong antibacterial activity with the increase in the percentage of ORS/Fe3O4-NCs in the PCL.  相似文献

Adaptive beamformers are designed with the aim of detection of noise and intentional destructive interference and then removing them from the desired signal. This is done by placing high attenuation in the direction of the destructive signal in the radiation pattern of antenna arrays without attenuating the signal from a known direction. Minimum variance distortionless response and linearly constrained minimum variance are among such algorithms in mobile communications. A short explanation of the theory and weights formulae of these beamformers will be given. Two designs for weights calculations in Simulink with the added library of DSP-Builder tool from Altera will be presented. Quadrature Rectangular decomposition with Modified Gram-Schmidt algorithm is used instead of the direct matrix inversion. All calculations are done in single floating point mode for the required high accuracy. Modelsim has been used for hardware simulation and measuring the required clock cycles. The target FPGA is Aria10 from Altera which has floating point DSP blocks for high-performance computations. Hardware resources usage, power consumption, maximum clock frequency and update rate for different matrix sizes of these two beamformers are compared and discussed. The results are also compared with some other relevant reported works.  相似文献

In this study, the authors synthesised silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) using autoclave as a simple, unique and eco‐friendly approach. The effect of Zingiber officinale extract was evaluated as a reducing and stabiliser agent. According to transmission electron microscopy results, the AgNPs were in the spherical shape with a particle size of ∼17 nm. The biomedical properties of AgNPs as antibacterial agents and free radical scavenging activity were estimated. Synthesised AgNPs showed significant 1,1‐diphenyl‐2‐picryl‐hydrazyl free radical scavenging. Strong bactericidal activity was shown by the AgNPs on Gram‐positive and Gram‐negative bacteria. A maximum inhibition zone of ∼14 mm was obtained for epidermidis at a concentration of 60 μg/ml for sample fabricated at 24 h. The AgNPs also showed a significant cytotoxic effect against MCF‐7 breast cancer cell lines with an half maximal inhibitory concentration value of 62 μg/ml in 24 h by the MTT assay. Fe3O4/talc nanocomposite was used for removal of Cu(II), Ni(II), and Pb(II) ions from aqueous solutions. Experiments were designed by response surface methodology (RSM) and a quadratic model was used to predict the variables. The adsorption parameters such as adsorbent dosage, removal time, and initial ion concentration were used as the independent variables and their effects on heavy metal ion removal were investigated. Analysis of variance was incorporated to judge the adequacy of the models. Optimal conditions with initial heavy metal ion concentration of 100, 92 and 270 mg/L, 120 s of removal time and 0.12 g of adsorbent amount resulted in 72.15%, 50.23%, and 91.35% removal efficiency for Cu(II), Ni(II), and Pb(II), respectively. The predictions of the model were in good agreement with experimental results and the Fe3O4/talc nanocomposite was successfully used to remove heavy metals from aqueous solutions.  相似文献

The end products of fatty acid synthase activities are usually 16‐ and 18‐carbon fatty acids. There are however, several plant species that store 8‐ to 14‐carbon (medium‐chain) fatty acids in their oil seeds. Among the medium‐chain fatty acids (MCFA), caprylic (8:0) and capric (10:0) are minor components of coconut oil, which are used in many industrial, nutritional and pharmaceutical products. Engineering crop plants such as Brassica could provide an economical source of these oils. During the last decade many laboratories have identified, cloned and characterized both the biosynthetic and catabolic enzymes regulating the composition and levels of these unusual fatty acids in seed oil. Among the biosynthetic enzymes thioesterases (TE), β‐ketoacyl‐ACP synthases (KAS) and acyltransferases are best characterized. In fact several independent investigators have shown that combined expression of the medium‐chain specific enzymes, specifically, TE, KAS and lysophosphatidic acid acyltransferase (LPAAT) results in the production of significant levels of MCFA in seed that otherwise do not accumulate any medium‐chain fatty acid. However, any additional increase in the levels of MCFA in transgenic seeds will require further detailed studies, such as possible induction of the medium‐chain specific enzymes in β‐oxidation and the glyoxylate pathways. To examine such a possibility, a number of genes involved in the β‐oxidation cycle among them a novel enzyme now designated as ACX3, a medium‐chain specific acyl‐CoA‐oxidase, has also been cloned. This article is an attempt to summarize our current knowledge and the present status of engineering oilseed crops for production of medium‐chain fatty acids.  相似文献

Nonlinear elastoplastic behavior of the nanocomposites based on the styrene–acrylonitrile/carboxylated acrylonitrile butadiene rubber (SAN/XNBR) blend was investigated using experimental and theoretical analysis. Graphene, graphene oxide nanoparticles, and glycidyl methacrylate-grafted-XNBR (XNBR-g-GMA) as a compatibilizer were incorporated in the SAN/XNBR blends. In this regard, the focus of this study is on modeling of the stress–strain behavior of these nanocomposites, considering the effect of the interfacial interactions made by compatibilizer. For this purpose, field emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM) and transmission electron microscope (TEM) techniques were used to investigate the relationship between microstructure and mechanical properties of nanocomposites. In addition, FESEM and TEM images showed that the presence of a compatibilizer could influence the dispersion and localization of the nanoparticles. According to the tensile test results, the presence of the compatibilizer increased the mechanical properties of the nanocomposites, specifically elongation at break. Considering the nanocomposite containing compatibilizer and graphene oxide, the elongation at break increased about 570% compared with the nanocomposite without compatibilizer. Better dispersion of graphene oxide and the creation of chemical interaction among components in the presence of the XNBR-g-GMA compatibilizer could be the reasons for these improvements, as confirmed by TEM. The usage of the Bergstrom–Boyce model for analyzing the nonlinear elastoplastic behavior of the nanocomposites illustrated proper conformity with the experimental data in the elastic region. However, there are some deviations in the viscoplastic region, particularly close to the breaking elongation region.  相似文献

TiO2 photocatalysts were prepared by hydrothermal method at temperatures of 110, 155, and 200°C for 24 hours, using KOH (5 mol/L):NaOH (5 mol/L) solution and anatase TiO2 powder with an average particle size of 0.13 μm as precursor and by calcining at two different temperatures of 450 and 700°C. An overall photocatalytic removal efficiency of 93% was achieved for Rhodamine B dye under UV light irradiation by the photocatalyst obtained at synthesis and calcination temperatures of 155 and 700°C, respectively, which indicated a nanorod morphology with a mean diameter of about 34 nm.  相似文献
