There is increasing evidence that, in addition to its major functional role in the regulation of fine motor control, the cerebellum is involved in other important functions, such as sensory-motor learning and memory. Classical conditioning of the eyeblink or nictitating membrane response (and other discrete behavioral responses) is a form of sensory-motor learning that depends crucially upon the cerebellum. Within the cerebellum, however, the relative importance of the cerebellar cortex and the deep cerebellar nuclei in eyeblink conditioning is unclear and disputed. Recent studies employing various mutant mice provide an effective approach to resolving this controversy. Eyeblink conditioning in spontaneous mutant mice deficit in Purkinje cells, the exclusive output neurons of the cerebellar cortex, indicate that both the cerebellar cortex and the interpositus nucleus are important. Furthermore, studies involving gene knockout mice suggest that long-term depression, a process of synaptic plasticity occurring in Purkinje cells, might be involved in eyeblink conditioning.  相似文献

Design is commonly understood as a key element of products, contributing to their distinctiveness, usability and aesthetics. The success of a product is increasingly related to the user experience or the aesthetics of the user interface, meaning that design is increasingly important in the digital environment. The shift in competitive focus to the customer induced by digital design encourages companies to innovate and can also lead to changes in internal operations, market orientation and the reconfiguration of external collaboration procedures. This dimension of digital design-induced effects has to date seen very little research. The objective of this study is to investigate how digital design-induced changes in market orientation, internal restructuring and external cooperation affect firms' competitive orientation. The simultaneous equation framework was applied to a survey of 515 user interface and experience designers from France. Our results suggest that market orientation is not the only channel through which digital design influences firm competitiveness. Digital design leads to organizational change and the reconfiguration of external relationships that directly and indirectly help companies build competitive advantages and increase customer satisfaction.  相似文献

Resistance was induced in cattle to the tick Amblyomma variegatum by five consecutive infestations with nymphs and adults. Using the principal component analysis (PCA), it was found that percentage of adults engorged, percentage of adults which died, percentage of nymphs which engorged, percentage of nymphs which moulted and percentage of nymphs which died, were the main indicators of resistance against A. variegatum. The percentages of nymphs which engorged or moulted after the third infestation were significantly (P < 0.01) reduced while the percentage of nymphs which died increased significantly (P < 0.01) after the third infestation. Percentages of adults which engorged or died started to decrease significantly (P < 0.01) from the fourth infestation after an initial increase during this period. The acquisition of resistance by cattle to the adult ticks was slower than to the nymphs. Infection of cattle with Trypanosoma congolense and Babesia bigemina after the fifth infestation enhanced the acquired immunity as revealed by the significantly (P < 0.01) increased feeding period of the adult ticks and changes in other parameters.  相似文献

Wireless and in particular 802.11 is one of the major technologies for accessing the Internet at home, in coffee shops, enterprises, university campuses, and other public places. While most recent works on modeling wireless sites focuses on user mobility and user residing time, this paper presents and compares a number of models for characterizing access point (AP) usage including time-dependent models that considers week structure usage. Moreover, rather than looking at throughput we focus on daily counts of keep-alive events that mobile devices generate every 15 min while they are connected to the wireless network. We model both daily event counts and above–below AP event counts average binary indicator. Our models are trained and evaluated on data collected from Porto hotspot of Eduroam, the European academic wireless network. The models we present are generative, in the sense they can be used to generate synthetic daily event counts for a single AP or a collection of APs. We provide standard cross-validation comparison of models using the log-likelihood of the models on training and test data. We conclude that significant improvements in AP usage modeling capability can be observed by considering (1) simple time dependency (2) week-days/week-ends usage structure and (3) individual day’s usage; whereas extending the complexity of time dependency ordering of AP’s usage samples does not show significant improvements for daily event count models.  相似文献

In the present review, the association of out-of-home eating with anthropometric changes was examined. Peer-reviewed studies in eight databases were searched, and 15 prospective studies were included in the review. The quality of the data was assessed by considering risks of bias in sample selection, data collection methods, and the appropriateness of statistical tests. From this, seven studies, which used relatively large samples or had a follow-up period longer than 10 years, were retained for further analysis. It was concluded that eating out-of-home frequently, in the broad sense, is positively associated with the risk of becoming overweight or obese and weight change. With regard to specific out-of-home sources, the review shows that eating at fast-food outlets is associated with a greater increase in body weight and waist circumference over time than eating at restaurants and takeaway foods positively predict BMI change in women. More research is needed on out-of-home foods other than fast-foods and restaurant foods, such as street, canteen, and school foods.  相似文献

The HPC Challenge (HPCC) Benchmark suite and the Intel MPI Benchmark (IMB) are used to compare and evaluate the combined performance of processor, memory subsystem and interconnect fabric of five leading supercomputers—SGI Altix BX2, Cray X1, Cray Opteron Cluster, Dell Xeon Cluster, and NEC SX-8. These five systems use five different networks (SGI NUMALINK4, Cray network, Myrinet, InfiniBand, and NEC IXS). The complete set of HPCC Benchmarks are run on each of these systems. Additionally, we present Intel MPI Benchmarks results to study the performance of 11 MPI communication functions on these systems.  相似文献
