Fe3O4 nanopowders prepared by three different procedures (vapor-phase synthesis, chemical precipitation from aqueous solutions,
and laser evaporation) have been characterized by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy before and after chromium(VI) sorption
from aqueous solutions. The results demonstrate that, during sorption, the chromium is concentrated in the magnetite at a
level of several atomic percent, and its oxidation state is 3+. The mechanism of chromium sorption on magnetite particles

Potassium aluminosilicate phosphate glass with the composition 30% K2O-20% Al2O3-50% P2O5 (wt %) activated by tetravalent vanadium ions was synthesized and characterized with respect to physicochemical properties,
