This study aimed to develop a new method for detoxification of milk from aflatoxin M1 (AFM1) by using Lactobacillus rhamnosus GG biofilm. After inoculation of milk contaminated with AFM1 into L. rhamnosus GG biofilm, the unbound AFM1 was extracted and quantified by HPLC. The stability of the formed AFM1/biofilm complex using different AFM1 contamination levels of milk was also studied. We found that the percentages of bound AFM1 by L. rhamnosus GG biofilm reached up to 60.74%. While no significant difference in milk proteins content was observed after AFM1 binding, some changes in total dry matter and fat content were noticed. 相似文献

Replacement of the damaged scar tissue created by a myocardial infarction is the goal of cardiac tissue engineering. However, once the implanted tissue is in place, monitoring its function is difficult and involves indirect methods, while intervention necessarily requires an invasive procedure and available medical attention. To overcome this, methods of integrating electronic components into engineered tissues have been recently presented. These allow for remote monitoring of tissue function as well as intervention through stimulation and controlled drug release. Here, an improved hybrid microelectronic tissue construct capable of withstanding the dynamic environment of the beating heart without compromising electronic or mechanical functionality is reported. While the reported system is enabled to sense the function of the engineered tissue and provide stimulation for pacing, an electroactive polymer on the electronics enables it to release multiple drugs in parallel. It is envisioned that the integration of microelectronic devices into engineered tissues will provide a better way to monitor patient health from afar, as well as provide facile, more exact methods to control the healing process. 相似文献

Catalysts derived from Co/Mg/Al hydrotalcite-type precursors modified with La and Ce were characterized by XANES and tested in ethanol steam reforming. The reaction data showed that, with a molar ratio of water:ethanol = 3:1 in the feed, addition of Ce and La favored acetaldehyde production. Increasing the water content (water:ethanol = 5:1) decreased the acetaldehyde formation by favoring the adsorption of water molecules on these samples, enhancing the acetaldehyde conversion. 相似文献

Effect of the Y2O3–ZrO2 support composition on nickel catalyst evaluated in dry reforming of methane
Nickel catalysts with a load of 5 wt.% Ni, supported on pure ZrO2 and ZrO2 stabilized with 4 mol%, 8 mol% and 12 mol% of Y2O3, were prepared by the polymerization method. The samples were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), temperature-programmed reduction with hydrogen (TPR-H2), specific surface area (BET) and electronic paramagnetic resonance (EPR) and tested as catalysts for carbon dioxide reforming of methane. The XRD patterns showed the presence of the oxide precursor (NiO) and the tetragonal phase of a Y2O3–ZrO2 solid solution. According to the TPR-H2 analysis, the reduction of various NiO species was influenced by the composition of the support. Catalytic tests were conducted at 800 °C for 6 h, and the composition of the gaseous products and the catalytic conversion rate depended on the composition of the Y2O3–ZrO2 solid solution and its influence on the supported NiO species. A direct relation was observed between the variation in the support, the nickel species supported on it and the performance in the catalytic tests. 相似文献

Following several recent papers discussing various problems of scheduling a maintenance activity, we focus here on scheduling a maintenance activity on unrelated parallel machines. The objective is to minimize flow-time. In the basic setting, we assume that all the machines must be maintained simultaneously. The problem is known to be NP-hard, and we introduce and test numerically an efficient heuristic and a lower bound, both based on a solution of a matching problem. We also study the relaxed version, where the machines are not restricted to be maintained at the same time. Similar heuristic and lower bound are proposed and tested. 相似文献

Rational approach for the analysis of segmental reinforced soil walls based on kinematic constraints
The paper presents an analytical method for the solution of reinforced soil walls in which the wall facing has a structural role. The three-component (soil–reinforcement–wall) system is statically indeterminate, and hence cannot be solved by equilibrium equations alone. The paper follows up on the work of Baker and Klein [2004. An integrated limiting equilibrium approach for design of reinforced soil retaining structures part I – formulation. Geotextiles and Geomembranes 22, 119–150] where an interaction model, incorporating factors that divide forces between the reinforcement layers and the wall, was introduced to solve the statically indeterminate system. In the current work, the division factors are resolved such that the kinematic constraints of compatibility between the reinforcement layers and the wall are satisfied. This is achieved by solving an optimization problem in which the objective function includes the relative displacement between the reinforcement layers and the wall. The resultant system is fully coupled whereby upper reinforcement layers are affected by the behavior of lower layers. As such, the method overcomes the limitation of the original framework in which the top-down procedure omits such coupling. A non-dimensional parametric study was conducted on walls with 10 face blocks (9 reinforcement layers). Results are given in a normalized manner for cases in which the reinforcement pullout stiffness is uniform and linearly increasing with depth. Analysis results show that in cases where the wall is relatively stiff compared to the reinforcement, the upper reinforcement layers are clearly affected by the lower layers (this is a direct outcome of the fully coupled system). On the other hand, when the relative stiffness of the wall is low, the system behavior tends towards that of a hinged system, which is statically determinate. In this case the solution becomes independent of the reinforcement pullout stiffness. Analysis results indicate that current design codes, which do not explicitly consider the structural role of the facing in the calculation procedure, may be overconservative in certain cases. Cystoliths are amorphous calcium carbonate bodies that form in the leaves of some plant families. Cystoliths are regularly distributed in the epidermis and protrude into the photosynthetic tissue, the mesophyll. The photosynthetic pigments generate a steep light gradient in the leaf. Under most illumination regimes the outer mesophyll is light saturated, thus the photosynthetic apparatus is kinetically unable to use the excess light for photochemistry. Here we use micro‐scale modulated fluorometry to demonstrate that light scattered by the cystoliths is distributed from the photosynthetically inefficient upper tissue to the efficient, but light deprived, lower tissue. The results prove that the presence of light scatterers reduces the steep light gradient, thus enabling the leaf to use the incoming light flux more efficiently. MicroCT and electron microscopy confirm that the spatial distribution of the minerals is compatible with their optical function. During the study we encountered large calcium oxalate druses in the same anatomical location as the cystoliths. These druses proved to have similar light scattering functions as the cystoliths. This study shows that certain minerals in the leaves of different plants distribute the light flux more evenly inside the leaf. 相似文献

Zirconia-supported nickel catalysts with different amounts of aluminum (Al/Zr = 0.2, 1 and 2) were studied in this work in order to find alternative supports for nickel-based catalysts for the partial oxidation of methane. This reaction is a promising route for producing hydrogen and syngas for different applications. Samples were prepared by precipitation and impregnation techniques, characterized by several techniques and evaluated in the partial oxidation of methane in the range of 450–750 °C and 1 atm. It was found that aluminum affects the textural and catalytic properties of zirconia-supported nickel catalysts. The tetragonal phase of zirconia was stabilized by aluminum and gamma-alumina was also found in the aluminum-richest samples. Aluminum increased the porosity and the specific surface area of the solids. The catalytic activity also increased with the amount of aluminum in solids probably due to the stronger interaction of nickel with the support, which slowly generates active sites during the reduction step. The methane conversion and hydrogen selectivity increased with temperature, indicating no deactivation. The hydrogen to carbon monoxide molar ratio decreased due to aluminum but was not significantly affected by temperature. The coke produced was not harmful to the catalysts and aluminum affected its amount, although no simple relationship was found between these parameters. The most promising catalyst was the sample with aluminum to zirconium molar ratio of 2, which showed high activity and hydrogen selectivity and was stable under the reaction condition. 相似文献

Design organizations play a major role in the construction industry: they are the media that transfer the requirements of the client to the contractor and ensure that they are met. Thus they need to provide a high quality of service to ensure that their client's project achieves the best possible standards of cost, time and quality. Seventy quality practices (QP) were identified as having a bearing on the quality of service provided by the local design organizations. These quality practices were grouped into fifteen sections termed quality sections (QS). The prevalence of these practices among the local design organizations was surveyed and determined. The results indicate a significant need for improvement in the quality sections ‘working relationship’, ‘employee training and education’, and ‘performance quality audit’. The study reveals the need for the establishment of a design code, and evaluation standards for local design organizations. 相似文献
