A series of NbO x /ZrO2 catalysts containing up to 2.67wt Nb (ca. 80 nominal surface coverage) was prepared by incipient wetness impregnation from niobium oxalate and oxalic acid solution. The structure of the catalysts was monitored by X-ray diffraction and Raman spectroscopy. The results indicated the presence of a surface Nb phase. No evidence for the formation of crystalline Nb2O5 species was found. The development of the acidity as a function of Nb loading was monitored by adsorption of a basic probe molecule followed by infrared spectroscopy. The results indicated the appearance of Brnsted acid sites for a threshold of Nb loading. The abundance of Brnsted acid sites correlated well with the isopropanol dehydration activity. The overall behavior was very similar to that reported earlier for the WO x /ZrO2 system.  相似文献

Mastic water is a commercial flavouring obtained during the steam distillation of mastic resin (the resin of Pistacia lentiscus var. chia) for the production of mastic oil. The mastic water extracts were analysed by GC−MS. The major compounds identified were verbenone, α-terpineol, linalool and trans-pinocarveol. Overall the composition was found to be very different from that of mastic oil. Additional GC−MS revealed the enantiomeric ratio of the chiral constituents of mastic water. The antimicrobial activity of mastic water extract, as well as that of its major constituents, was examined against Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus and Candida spp. including ATCC wild clinical and food-borne strains. Linalool and α-terpineol were found to be the most potent antimicrobial constituents. Finally the stability of mastic water at different temperatures was studied, showing no change in the GC−MS profile of the organic extract for a period of 4 months at storage temperatures up to 4 °C.  相似文献

Electrospray ionization mass spectrometry (ESI-MS) was applied for the characterization of inorganic polyphosphates [orthophosphate, pyrophosphate, tripolyphosphate, trimetaphosphate, and tetrapolyphosphatel. The high selectivity of ESI-MS allows the detection of different polyphosphate species without preseparation by ion chromatography or capillary electrophoresis. Furthermore, ESI-MS does not require the incorporation of UV-absorbing chromophores into the analytical method for the detection of phosphates, unlike conventional UV-chromatographic methods. Limits of detection by ESI-MS were estimated to range from approximately 1 to 10 ng/mL. The quantification of polyphosphate samples as single-component and multicomponent mixtures was investigated. Linear signal response for single-component samples ranged from the limit of detection to approximately 10 microg/mL Quantification of polyphosphate in streamwater is demonstrated using the standard addition method. The effect of multi-polyphosphate components and salts on signal response was also studied. For concentrations less than 2.0 microg/mL, signal response from a tetrapolyphosphate sample was comparable to those obtained from tetrapolyphosphate-tripolyphosphate mixtures. Signal response obtained from tetrapolyphosphate in the presence of tripolyphosphate or NH4NO3 at higher concentrations (approximately 50 microg/mL and 35 microg/mL, respectively) was significantly lower relative to single-component standards (approximately 40%-70%).  相似文献

Pt-Re/Vulcan carbon powder nanocomposites have been prepared with total metal loadings of 18 wt.% and 40 wt.% using a new non-cluster (1:1)-PtRe bimetallic precursor as the source of metal. Pt-Re nanoparticles having an average diameter of ca. 6 nm and atomic stoichiometry near 1:1 are formed. TEM, on-particle HR-EDS, and powder XRD data are consistent with the formation of Pt-Re alloy nanoparticles having a hexagonal unit cell with cell constants of a = 2.77 A and c = 4.47 A. A nanocomposite prepared at higher total metal loading under more rigorous thermal treatment also contains Pt-Re alloy nanoparticles having a fcc unit cell structure (a = 3.95 A). The precise dependence of Pt-Re nanocrystal structure on the thermal history of the nanocomposite specimen has not been investigated in detail. While these Pt-Re/carbon nanocomposites are active as anode catalysts in operating direct methanol fuel cells, the measured performance is less than that of commercial Pt-Ru/carbon catalysts and has marginal practical importance.  相似文献

BACKGROUND: Recurrent hyperparathyroidism may occur following parathyroid autotransplantation due to autogenous function of the muscle-engrafted tissue. Parathyroid lesions are uncommonly diagnosed on cytology. CASE: A 31-year-old female with chronic renal failure presented with an elevated parathyroid hormone level and a neck mass in the left sternocleidomastoid muscle, the site of a previous parathyroid autograft. Fine needle aspiration of the mass revealed high cellularity, with perivascularly arranged, three-dimensional, branching clusters; individual cells; and naked nuclei exhibiting anisonucleosis. A diagnosis of parathyroid graft hyperplasia was made by fine needle aspiration and subsequently by histopathologic examination. CONCLUSION: Fine needle aspiration is an effective tool for confirming the presence of parathyroid autograft hyperplasia, thus allowing the correct surgical approach.  相似文献

OBJECTIVE: The report estimates the treatment costs, cost-offset effects, and cost-effectiveness of Collaborative Care of depressive illness in primary care. STUDY DESIGN: Treatment costs, cost-offset effects, and cost-effectiveness were assessed in two randomized, controlled trials. In the first randomized trail (N = 217), consulting psychiatrists provide enhanced management of pharmacotherapy and brief psychoeducational interventions to enhance adherence. In the second randomized trial (N = 153). Collaborative Care was implemented through brief cognitive-behavioral therapy and enhanced patient education. Consulting psychologist provided brief psychotherapy supplemented by educational materials and enhanced pharmacotherapy management. RESULTS: Collaborative Care increased the costs of treating depression largely because of the extra visits required to provide the interventions. There was a modest cost offset due to reduced use of specialty mental health services among Collaborative Care patients, but costs of ambulatory medical care services did not differ significantly between the intervention and control groups. Among patients with major depression there was a modest increase in cost-effectiveness. The cost per patient successfully treated was lower for Collaborative Care than for Usual Care patients. For patients with minor depression. Collaborative Care was more costly and not more cost-effective than Usual Care. CONCLUSIONS: Collaborative Care increased depression treatment costs and improved the cost-effectiveness of treatment for patients with major depression. A cost offset in specialty mental health costs, but not medical care costs, was observed. Collaborative Care may provide a means of increasing the value of treatment services for major depression.  相似文献

To elucidate the intradialytic urea concentration gradients, we examined 26 hemodialysis patients wearing a double-lumen central venous catheter during their first or second fistula-punctured dialysis session. In 17 patients (group A), after 60 and 240 minutes of treatment with a mean blood flow of 196.4 +/- 9.9 mL/min, blood urea nitrogen (BUN) was measured in blood samples taken simultaneously from the central venous catheter, a vein in the arm opposite the access site, and the arterial and venous lines of the dialyzer. In 16 patients (group B), after 60 minutes of treatment with a mean blood flow rate of 197.5 +/- 12.3 mL/min, BUN was measured in blood samples taken from the dialyzer arterial line and then, after decreasing the blood flow to 50 to 60 mL/min for 1 minute, in samples taken from a vein in the arm opposite the access site, the central venous catheter, and the dialyzer arterial line. In group A, the mean BUN values in the dialyzer arterial line at 60 and 240 minutes were found to be 3.7% +/- 3.7% and 3.5% +/- 3.4% higher than the corresponding values in the central veins, respectively (P = NS between 60 and 240 minutes). In group B, after 1 minute of low blood flow, this difference was 1.5% +/- 2.4% (P = 0.06 compared with group A). The peripheral veins in group A patients at 60 and 240 minutes had 9.7% +/- 5.2% and 10.9% +/- 5.3% higher BUN values, respectively, compared with the central veins. This difference in group B patients after 1 minute of low blood flow was 6.8% +/- 4.2%. Urea access recirculation rate in group A, calculated by the classical three-samples method, was found to be 7.6% +/- 5.0% at 60 minutes and 9.9% +/- 5.8% at 240 minutes (P = NS). In group B, BUN values in the dialyzer arterial line after 1 minute of low blood flow increased significantly by 3.4% +/- 4.5% (P < 0.01). Our study shows that during conventional hemodialysis with a blood flow rate of 200 mL/min, urea concentration in the central veins is lower than in the dialyzer arterial line. This gradient after 1 minute of low-flow dialysis had a tendency to decrease. At the same time, however, the urea concentration gradient between the peripheral and central veins remained high, indicating that during conventional hemodialysis, intercompartmental disequilibrium plays a significant role in the arteriovenous gradient.  相似文献

We have developed an assay (Endopep-MS) that detects the specific endoproteinase activities of all seven BoNT types by mass spectrometry (MS). Each BoNT type cleaves a unique site on proteins involved in neuronal transmission. Target peptide substrates based on these proteins identify a BoNT type by its enzymatic action on the substrate and the production of two peptide products, which are then detected by matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization time-of-flight MS or liquid chromatography electrospray ionization MS/MS. We showed the ability to detect all seven toxin types in a multiplexed assay format. The detection limits achieved range from 0.039 to 0.625 mouse LD(50)/mL for toxin types A, B, E, and F in a buffer system. The Endopep-MS assay is the first to differentiate all seven BoNT types, is sensitive, specific, and has the potential to quantify toxin activity.  相似文献

Automation of data collection in matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization (MALDI) mass spectrometry using a correlative analysis algorithm is demonstrated. This algorithm was employed to compensate for mass spectral jittering in MALDI data collection (e.g., peak shifts along the m/z axis, signal intensity deviations, etc.). Several important parameters for performing correlative analysis, such as the minimum correlation coefficient to be used and number of mass spectra to acquire prior to correlation, have been investigated and optimized. In addition, the correlation algorithm improved mass resolution of low- and high-molecular-weight compounds by as much as a factor of 4. Signal reproducibility in MALDI quantitative analysis also is improved when correlation is employed for data collection. This data collection algorithm can be used in conjunction with other instrumental optimization programs to allow for fully automated MALDI analysis, which is required for the routine applications carried out in many analytical laboratories.  相似文献
