It reports the preparation and characterization of tungsten(VI) oxide supported rhodium(0) nanoparticles (Rh0/WO3 NPs) being used as catalysts in releasing H2 from dimethylamine borane (DMAB). The reducible nature of WO3 plays a significant role in the catalytic efficiency of rhodium(0) nanoparticles in the dehydrogenation of DMAB. The Rh0/WO3 NPs were in-situ generated from the reduction of Rh2+ ions on the surface of WO3 during the catalytic dehydrogenation of dimethylamine borane in toluene and isolated from the reaction solution after the dehydrogenation to be characterized by using SEM, TEM, XPS, ATR-IR and XRD. The results reveal the formation of Rh0 NPs with a mean particle size of 1.92 ± 0.34 nm dispersed on the surface of tungsten(VI) oxide. Rh0/WO3 NPs are found to be very active catalyst releasing 1.0 equiv. H2 per mole of dimethylamine borane under ambient conditions. Among the various WO3 supported Rh0 NPs with different metal loadings, the sample with 0.1% wt. Rh provide the record catalytic activity (TOF = 2816 h?1) which is one of the highest value ever reported for rhodium-based catalysts in H2 generation from DMAB at 60.0 ± 0.5 °C. Rh0/WO3 NPs were also reusable catalyst in dehydrogenation of DMAB retaining 55% of their initial catalytic activity in the 3rd run of the dehydrogenation reaction. Control experiments were performed at various catalyst concentrations and temperatures to investigate the kinetics of dehydrogenation and to calculate the activation parameters for the reaction.  相似文献

Monitoring and control of dangerous substances discharged into receiving waters have attracted more attention lately. Since it is not possible to analyze every single substance, a prioritization methodology is needed for the selection of those to be monitored. Existing well-developed models require significant amount of data for reliable outcomes. This paper presents a methodology to prioritize the dangerous substances having adverse effects on freshwaters in Turkey, where data are scarce. Such a methodology will also serve as a solid model for other countries with limited background data. The adopted methodology enabled the elimination of chemicals to generate a candidate list composed of 608 substances among more than 5000 substances. Further screening and prioritization were conducted using different assessment methods (i.e., Total Hazard Value, Total Impact Value, Combined Monitoring-based, and Modelling-based Priority Setting) to obtain a proposed Final Candidate Specific Pollutants List of 150 dangerous substances. The proposed Candidate National Pollutant List of Turkey was established by combining 45 priority pollutants of the European Union with a list of candidate specific pollutants. According to the outcomes of this study, monitoring and controlling of 195 dangerous substances in freshwaters are recommended. Further detailed studies should be conducted in order to observe the actual levels of these dangerous substances in freshwaters followed by a review of the monitoring list accordingly. Moreover, further revisions might be required in the proposed list due to some possible versatile conditions in terms of sampling points (i.e., change in the location of industries).  相似文献

This paper reports the charge transport mechanism of polythiophene (PT) matrix composites having various concentrations of copper(II) acetylacetonate. Characterization and structural analyses of the samples were carried out via Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, atomic absorption spectroscopy, differential scanning calorimetry, thermogravimetric analysis and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The alternating current electrical properties were investigated as a function of temperature. The change of free energy of adsorption calculated from the Langmuir adsorption isotherm showed that metal ions were electrostatically adsorbed onto polymer chains. Significant morphological changes were observed from SEM images of PT depending on doping process which in turn affected the thermal degradation of PT. The charge transport mechanism determined from a power law showed that there was one frequency‐dependent conductivity region for PT, while there were two regions for the composites in contrast to studies reported in the literature. © 2013 Society of Chemical Industry  相似文献

In this paper, we demonstrate that activated carbon (AC) and manganese dioxide (MnO2) coated exfoliated graphite sheets are a promising cathode for metal-air batteries. A simple and effective method is developed to exfoliate the graphite sheets and to load a catalyst onto their surfaces. Several low-cost, environmentally friendly air cathodes are fabricated, and their performances are tested by constructing Al-air b`atteries whose electrolyte 6 M NaOH, including ZnO inhibitor, is gelled by adding a cost-effective water retainer. The experimental results show that this new Al-air battery has a good discharge performance. In particular one of the new cathodes containing 50 wt% AC and 50 wt% MnO2 produces a capacity of 311 mAh/g at a constant current discharge of 1.56 mA. Finally, future research directions are discussed for the further usage of the fabricated cathodes.  相似文献

Incorporating medicinal plant extracts in membranes have a great potential as scaffolds for tissue engineering applications or vehicles for delivering therapeutic agents. Herein, Hypericum perforatum oil (0.25, 0.50, % vol/vol) loaded membranes were developed with Polyvinyl alcohol and chitosan polymer, where Genipin works as a chemical crosslinker to obtain a wound dressing material with acceptable characterization properties. Chemical groups, surface morphology, water uptake capacity, water vapor permeability rate, hydrophilicity, and mechanical properties of membranes were thoroughly investigated. Increasing oil concentration had a significant effect on the water uptake, surface morphology. and water vapor permeability rate of the membranes. Cytocompatibility of the membrane was also investigated with mouse embryonic fibroblasts (MEF) by 3-(4,5-dimethylthiazoyl-2-yl)-2,5-diphenyltetrazolium bromide (MTT) assay for direct and indirect cell culture studies. SEM was used to investigate the cell morphology on the membranes. The MTT assay findings prove that Genipin crosslinked H. perforatum oil loaded scaffolds are highly biocompatible and enhance the adhesion and proliferation of MEF cells. In addition to this, the genotoxicity test was performed to show DNA fragmentation. Results showed that the H. perforatum oil loaded polyvinyl alcohol-chitosan membrane presents suitable properties for potential skin tissue engineering applications.  相似文献

The research goal of this study is to produce suitable scaffolds for tissue engineering applications. Different ratios of polyvinyl alcohol (PVA)/starch (90:10, 70:30, 50:50) and crosslinking methods have been used to prepare cryogels. Chemically crosslinked cryogels were synthesized using glutaraldehyde as the crosslinking agent. For the physically crosslinked cryogels, sodium dodecyl sulfate was used during cryogelation as the foaming agent. Chemical structure and pore morphology were demonstrated by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). Swelling ratio and degradation profile of the scaffolds were also determined. 3-(4,5-dimethylthiazoyl-2-yl)-2,5-diphenyltetrazolium bromide assay and SEM were used to investigate the biocompatibility of the scaffolds and cell morphology. Genotoxicity test was performed to show DNA fragmentation. The overall results demonstrated that PVA/starch cryogels could have potentially appealing application as scaffolds for tissue engineering applications and additives affect the architecture and characteristic properties of the cryogels.  相似文献

Healthcare facilities are often complex and overwhelming for visitors, and wayfinding in healthcare facilities can be challenging. As there is an increasing number of global citizens who travel to seek medical care in another country, it is critical to make wayfinding easy for visitors who are not familiar with the language in a foreign country. Among many wayfinding aids, symbols are helpful for those visitors who have limited ability to understand written language. This study tested universal healthcare symbols in the United States, South Korea, and Turkey to compare the comprehension of symbols cross-country and identify predictors of the correct comprehension. To explore statistically significant relationships between symbol comprehension and countries, Pearson's Chi-square tests, logistic regression, and ANOVA were conducted. The test results showed that ten symbols among 14 tested have significant relationship with countries. Results of this study demonstrate that symbol comprehension can be varied significantly in different countries.  相似文献
