The bone implants used in tissue repair are susceptible to infections caused by staphylococci, specifically Staphylococcus aureus. Hence, the development of better biological materials that provide antimicrobial activity in bone tissue engineering is required. The nanoparticles of hydroxyapatite (nHAp) and nHAp dopped with Zn (nHAp-Zn) were prepared by the wet chemical method and the ion exchange method, respectively. They were characterized using SEM, AFM, FTIR and XRD. The antibacterial activity of nHAp and nHAp-Zn was determined with Gram-negative and Gram-positive bacterial strains. The results indicated that nHAp alone was acting as an inert matrix and when substituted with Zn, it showed better antibacterial activity. The nHAp-Zn was found to be non-toxic to osteoprogenitor cells. Thus, due to the antimicrobial property of nHAp-Zn nanoparticles, we suggest that they would have potential applications towards bone tissue engineering.  相似文献

Harmonic estimation is the main process in active filters for harmonic reduction. A hybrid Adaptive Neural Network–Particle Swarm Optimization (ANN–PSO) algorithm is being proposed for harmonic isolation. Originally Fourier Transformation is used to analyze a distorted wave. In order to improve the convergence rate and processing speed an Adaptive Neural Network Algorithm called Adaline has then been used. A further improvement has been provided to reduce the error and increase the fineness of harmonic isolation by combining PSO algorithm with Adaline algorithm. The inertia weight factor of PSO is combined along with the weight factor of Adaline and trained in Neural Network environment for better results. ANN–PSO provides uniform convergence with the convergence rate comparable that of Adaline algorithm. The proposed ANN–PSO algorithm is implemented on an FPGA. To validate the performance of ANN–PSO; results are compared with Adaline algorithm and presented herein.  相似文献

Extensive studies have been reported on the development of service-life prediction of reinforced concrete structures in the last two decades. Service life of a reinforced concrete structure is dependent on the corrosion process, specifically chloride threshold value. Chloride threshold value is a distinctive property and is dependent on several factors such as the supplementary cementitious material used, presence of surface cracks, water to binder ratio, type of steel reinforcement, exposure conditions, measurement methods, etc. Although chloride threshold value is an influential parameter in service-life prediction, a definitive chloride threshold value considering these factors is not reported in the existing literature and standards. Moreover, values adopted in many analytical tools for service life predictions based on the type of steel reinforcement alone are not appropriate and leads to inaccurate calculations. There is a gap in the available literature in understanding the selection of suitable chloride threshold values to be adopted for a specific system. Therefore, it is imperative to study the variation of chloride threshold value with exposure conditions as well as other influencing parameters, to achieve proper service life prediction. In the paper, several influencing parameters on chloride threshold value and its significance on prediction method are comprehensively reviewed. Moreover, suitable recommendations are highlighted for Indian and international standards at the later part of the study.  相似文献

Nanostructures of PtNiCo alloy have been prepared using a simple solvothermal process followed by annealing at higher temperature and studied for electrochemical oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) kinetics. PtNiCo/C catalyst has demonstrated an interesting trend of enhancement in the ORR activity along with long-term durability. The specific activity of 2.47 mA cm?2 for PtNiCo-16h/C (PtNiCo/C prepared at reaction time of 16 h) is ~12 times higher than that of Pt/C (0.2 mA cm?2). Further, X-ray diffraction, transmission electron microscopy and X-ray photo electron spectroscopy studies have been carried out systematically to understand the phase formation, morphology along with surface defects and elemental analysis respectively. The durability of the catalyst was evaluated over 10,000 potential cycles using standard triangular potential scan in the lifetime regime. Interestingly, after 10k durability cycles, PtNiCo-16h/C electrocatalyst showed enhanced ORR activity (32% higher activity; Im@10k cycles = 0.716 A mgPt?1) and stability compared to commercial Pt/C signifying the retention of Ni and Co due to higher lattice contraction in PtNiCo alloy electrocatalyst.  相似文献

A systematic design approach for low-power 10-bit, 100 MS/s pipelined analog-to-digital converter (ADC) is presented. At architectural level various per-stage-resolution are analyzed and most suitable architecture is selected for designing 10-bit, 100 MS/s pipeline ADC. At Circuit level a modified wide-bandwidth and high-gain two-stage operational transconductance amplifier (OTA) proposed in this work is used in track-and-hold amplifier (THA) and multiplying digital-to-analog converter (MDAC) sections, to reduce power consumption and thermal noise contribution by the ADC. The signal swing of the analog functional blocks (THA and MDAC sections) is allowed to exceed the supply voltage (1.8 V), which further increases the dynamic range of the circuit. Charge-sharing comparator is proposed in this work, which reduces the dynamic power dissipation and kickback noise of the comparator circuit. The bootstrap technique and bottom plate sampling technique is employed in THA and MDAC sections to reduce the nonlinearity error associated with the input signal resulting in a signal-to-noise-distortion ratio of 58.72/57.57 dB at 2 MHz/Nyquist frequency, respectively. The maximum differential nonlinearity (DNL) is +0.6167/−0.3151 LSB and the maximum integral nonlinearity (INL) is +0.4271/−0.4712 LSB. The dynamic range of the ADC is 58.72 dB for full-scale input signal at 2 MHz input frequency. The ADC consumes 52.6 mW at 100 MS/s sampling rate. The circuit is implemented using UMC-180 nm digital CMOS technology.  相似文献
