This paper presents a method of maximizing reliability of a series system subject to multiple constraints. The use of both active series parallel and standby redundancy is considered to increase the reliability of the system. A flexible tree search method has been used in this paper which is found to be an efficient method of solution, as it requires only simple mathematical computations. Arrays of nanowires are fabricated with alternating segments of the magnetostrictive alloy Fe1–xGax and Cu using electrochemical deposition in nanoporous anodic aluminium oxide (AAO) templates. The difficult nature of Ga‐alloy electrochemistry is overcome by controlling mass‐transfer and hydrodynamic conditions using novel rotating disk electrode templates to obtain highly uniform segment lengths throughout the arrays. Extensive structural characterization by XRD, EBSD and TEM reveals a strong <110> textured Fe1–xGax growth. Furthermore, using vibrating sample magnetometry (VSM), we demonstrate that control of magnetization reversal processes is possible once uniform aspect ratios are obtained for both the Fe–Ga and Cu segments.  相似文献

We describe herein some of our initial studies in pursuit of a simple, economical method of mass producing electrochromic displays. The approach we have taken is to print the display on polymer film utilizing commercially available conductive inks in an interdigitated electrode structure with a conductive metal oxide powder, dispersed in a polymer binder, as the electrode surface. A range of electrochromic materials suitable for use with an aqueous gel electrolyte have been explored and examples presented.  相似文献

Solid acids have become increasingly important for many liquid-phase industrial reactions these days. Montmorillonite clays (2:1 clay mineral) have been used as efficient solid acid catalysts for a number of organic and liquid phase reactions and offer several advantages over classic acids. Tailor made catalysts can be prepared from clays by suitably adjusting their acidity and surface area by acid activation. In the present work, preparation, characterization and performance of Pt (II) clays, Cu (II) clays, acid clay, and sol–gel hybrids of Cu (II) clays as solid catalysts in a test Friedel–Craft alkylation reaction of benzyl chloride with toluene using differential scanning calorimeter (DSC) are reported. Product formation has been analysed by FTIR spectroscopy. The main objective of this work is to show how clay as a solid catalyst affects reaction rates and activation energies. Acidity and dispersion of solid catalysts are two main factors which govern a catalysis reaction. Kinetic parameter analysis and XRD studies confirm that acid Pt (II) clay and Pt (II) clay dispersed by natural dispersants are more effective catalysts. In contrast to the reactions using AlCl3, the experimental conditions are non-polluting and the final work up does not require any aqueous treatment.  相似文献

Biosorption of Pb(II) on bael leaves (Aegle marmelos) was investigated for the removal of Pb(II) from aqueous solution using different doses of adsorbent, initial pH, and contact time. The maximum Pb loading capacity of the bael leaves was 104 mg g?1 at 50 mg L?1 initial Pb(II) concentration at pH 5.1. SEM and FT-IR studies indicated that the adsorption of Pb(II) occurs inside the wall of the hollow tubes present in the bael leaves and carboxylic acid, thioester and sulphonamide groups are involved in the process. The sorption process was best described by pseudo second order kinetics. Among Freundlich and Langmuir isotherms, the latter had a better fit with the experimental data. The activation energy Ea confirmed that the nature of adsorption was physisorption. Bael leaves can selectively remove Pb(II) in the presence of other metal ions. This was demonstrated by removing Pb from the effluent of exhausted batteries.  相似文献

Triplex hybrid nanofiller (CaNiAl2O5) have been synthesized by sol-gel method and its nanocomposite (NC) films were incorporated with poly vinyl alcohol (PVA). The scanning electron microscopy (SEM) was used to probe morphological behaviors and dispersion of CaNiAl2O5 in PVA matrix. In order to probe the microstructure X-ray diffraction (XRD) and FTIR were performed on PVA/CaNiAl2O5 NCs. Based on the results of both XRD and transmission electron microscopy (TEM), the average particle size of the CaNiAl2O5 lies in the range 7–15 nm. The current (I) – voltage (V) behaviors were studied using LCR-meter at room temperature. The dc-conductivity increases with increasing in both CaNiAl2O5 at different voltages. The dielectric constant exhibits higher values at lower frequency and increases with nanoparticle (NP) loading due to increase in polarization particles in polymer matrix. The ac conductivity tends to increase with increase frequency and NPs content. The cyclic voltammetric data indicate the NC with 8wt% NPs exhibit higher specific capacitance as compared with PVA. The optical constants of the NCs were evaluated from UV-Visible spectra. The band gap energies has a blue shift from 4.4 eV (PVA) to 2.8 eV (PVA/8wt% CaNiAl2O5), whereas refractive index (RI) and the optical conductivity of NCs increased with an increasing in NPs content.  相似文献
