We propose a scheme to detect individuals in any image frame of a video sequence showing densely crowded scenes against cluttered backgrounds. The method uses only spatial information, and in an initial pass through the image a trained Viola–Jones-type local detector is used to locate individuals in the densely crowded scene. This yields a large number of false alarms. Hence, in a second step, we seek to reduce the false alarms, and propose two methods for this. In the first, color information from the initially detected windows is passed to a classifier to reduce the false alarms. This classifier consists of a cascade of boosted classifiers with Haar-like features as input and is trained with color information from local windows. In the second method, a weak perspective model of an uncalibrated camera is used to further reduce the false alarm rate while maintaining the detection rate. This is based on the size and locations of the detections in the image frame, without the use of any 3D world information. Results are presented in the form of receiver operating characteristic curves. For instance, at a 79.0% detection accuracy, the false alarm rate is 20.3%.  相似文献

Red, blue and green emitting lamp phosphors such as Eu3+ doped Y2O3 (red phosphor), Eu2+ doped Ba0·64Al12O18·64, BaMgAl10O17 and BaMg2Al16O27 (blue phosphors) and Ce0·67Tb0·33MgAl11O19 and Eu2+, Mn2+ doped BaMgAl10O17 (green phosphors) have been prepared by the combustion of the corresponding metal nitrates (oxidizer) and oxalyl dihydrazide/urea/carbohydrazide (fuel) mixtures at 400°–500°C within 5 min. The formation of these phosphors has been confirmed by their characteristic powder X-ray diffraction patterns and fluorescence spectra. The phosphors showed characteristic emission bands at 611 nm (red emission), 430–450 nm (blue emission) and 515–540 nm (green emission). The fine-particle nature of the combustion derived phosphors has been investigated using powder density, particle size and BET surface area measurements. The aim of the study was to evaluate the impact of environmental contaminants on oxidative stress biomarkers in hepatocytes of Indian estuarine water grey mullet, Mugil cephalus collected from unpolluted Kovalam and polluted Ennore estuaries. Initially, a comparison was made between the general water chemistry and environmental pollutants like heavy metals to identify the ecotype of the estuaries. Biomarker responses and bioaccumulation of metals were determined along with histological studies of fish hepatocytes to assess contamination impact. Water chemistry data with higher temperature, salinity, pH, biochemical oxygen demand, chemical oxygen demand and low dissolved oxygen and environmental pollutants with higher metal concentration (p < 0.05) were observed at Ennore than Kovalam indicating its polluted environment. A significant increase (p < 0.05) in lipid and protein oxidation markers, decrease (p < 0.05) in thiol status and antioxidant enzyme activities were observed in the Ennore fish hepatocytes compared to Kovalam counterpart. Bioaccumulation of heavy metals was significantly higher (p < 0.05) in fish from Ennore. Hepatocytes from Ennore also featured extensive lipid-type vacuolation, increased size and membrane disruption. All the findings highlighted the value of oxidative stress biomarkers and membrane disruption as the sensitive parameters of environmental pollutant contamination and their importance in biomonitoring of aquatic ecosystems. This is also the first such attempt reported at the cellular level from South India stressing the importance of biomarkers in biomonitoring programmes using fish hepatocytes as the model system.  相似文献

The construction industry is predominantly project based and quality is one of the client's prime concerns in their construction projects. Many clients, especially those in the Hong Kong public sector, require their contractors to have a Quality Management System (QMS) certified under ISO9000. Also, several contractors as well as clients themselves voluntarily implemented an ISO9000-based QMS in their respective organizations in order to target the various benefits perceived from such initiative. It was considered timely and worthwhile to explore the effectiveness of ISO9000-based QMSs in the Hong Kong. This paper portrays the key findings from a focused study that relate to the client satisfaction aspects from implementation of the ISO9000-based QMSs in the contractor organizations.  相似文献

A techno-economic analysis of submerged (SmF) and solid state fermentation (SSF) processes for Aspergillus carbonarius polygalacturonase production was performed to make an appropriate process selection. The downstream processing involved integrated membrane process (IMP) and alginate affinity precipitation (AAP). For a production scale of 30kL purified polygalacturonase concentrate per year, the total upstream cost of SmF was 14% lower than the SSF process. Downstream processing cost by IMP was 47% lower than AAP. The SmF-IMP process required a total capital investment that was 15-24% lower than the SmF-AAP and SSF-AAP processes. The corresponding unitary product cost was also lower by 24-36% in SmF-IMP process. Thus the SmF-IMP process proved to be very attractive from an economic point of view.  相似文献

As traditional construction procurement approaches are found to be inadequate in meeting the demands and challenges of recent times, alternative procurement routes such as through management contracting or build-operate-transfer are increasingly being adopted. Although design∕build is one of the more popular alternative procurement methods that also has a long history, it does not appear to have well-established contractor selection procedures. This paper focuses on developing a model for contractor prequalification and bid evaluation in design∕build projects. For this purpose, it presents a comparative overview of some international practices in the design∕build contractor selection process. The overall objective is to identify the core aspects of selecting a suitable bidder in order to achieve the best “value for money.” The strengths and weaknesses of current practices of contractor selection are highlighted while identifying some of the best practices followed in design∕build projects by various clients.  相似文献

Rework can have adverse effects on the performance and productivity of construction projects. Techniques such as artificial neural networks (ANN) are widely used for prediction and classification problems and thus can be used to map the causes and effects of rework. The traditional back propagation neural network and general regression neural network data from 112 Hong Kong construction projects are used to examine the influence of rework causes on the various project performance indicators such as cost overrun, time overrun, and contractual claims. The results from this research could be used to develop forecasting systems and appropriate intelligent decision support frameworks for enhancing performance in construction projects. Furthermore, analysis of the neural network results indicates that the general regression neural network architecture is better suited for modelling rework causes and their impacts on project performance.

Les travaux de reprise peuvent avoir des effets néfastes sur les performances et la productivité dans les projets de construction. Des techniques comme les réseaux neuronaux artificiels (AAN) sont largement utilisés pour résoudre les problèmes de prévision et de classification et peuvent donc servir à cartographier les causes et les effets des travaux de reprise. Les données de réseaux neuronaux classiques à rétropropagation et les données de réseaux neuronaux à régression générale provenant de 112 projets de construction à Hong Kong sont utilisées pour examiner l'influence des travaux de reprise sur les divers indicateurs de performances de projets, comme les dépassements de coûts, les dépassements de délais et les réclamations contractuelles. Les résultats de cette recherche pourraient servir à développer des systèmes de prévision et des cadres appropriés et intelligents de soutien à la décision pour améliorer les performances de projets de construction. En outre, l'analyse des résultats de réseaux neuronaux indique que l'architecture du réseau neuronal à régression générale convient mieux à la modélisation des causes des travaux de reprise et à leurs conséquences sur les performances des projets.

AimsThe paper reviews the development of information and communication technology in briefing and proposes a collaborative briefing framework to extend key stakeholder engagement, aiming to improve the efficiency and reliability of project briefing for megaprojects.ScopeAuthors introduce an innovative collaborative approach to promote stakeholder involvement by enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of managing a large group of stakeholders, harnessing collaboration technology. Drawing parallels with biological neural networks in humans, a conceptual collaborative briefing framework is proposed to demonstrate how briefing team members can work collaboratively as a virtual organisation through a shared digital workspace. This framework has five core elements: integrated briefing team, collaborative briefing job plan, computer supported cooperative work platform, requirements processing models and facilitation models.ConclusionThe proposed framework supplements face-to-face discussion with computer mediated discussion, depending on the type, flexibility and interaction needed for different aspects in briefing. This “hybrid briefing method” would maximise the benefits to costs ratio of expanded stakeholder engagement in project briefing. The framework is expected to promote the accuracy and transparency of ‘requirements identification’ processing, the effective engagement and appropriate integration of more stakeholder inputs and finally, to improve the efficiency and reliability of briefing outputs. Lastly, some framework limitations are discussed, aimed at further development and a computer prototype.  相似文献

The design–build procurement route is gaining popularity and being extensively used by many clients. Scrutinizing the capabilities of design–build “candidate” organizations (who submit proposals for prequalification/short listing), is a complex task that demands the evaluation of several quantitative and qualitative attributes. The crucial task of design–builder prequalification needs multidisciplinary expertise that often poses tough challenges to many construction clients. A Hong Kong based cross-sectional research study of various international clients’ design–builder selection approaches unveiled several selection strategies and criteria used; and benchmarked some best practices. Based on such consolidated knowledge, a structured design–builder selection model was developed. The conceptualized frameworks for design–builder prequalification are described in this paper. An overview of the development and preliminary validation of a prototype web-based decision support system for design–builder prequalification is also presented in this paper.  相似文献
