The α–β phase transformation behavior of Zr‐2.5Nb (in mass%) has been characterized in real time during an in situ neutron diffraction experiment. The Zr‐2.5Nb material in the current study consists, at room temperature, of α‐Zr phase (hcp) and two β phases (bcc), a Nb rich β‐Nb phase and retained, Zr rich, β‐Zr(Nb) phase. It is suggested that this is related to a quench off the equilibrium solubility of Nb atoms in the Zr bcc unit cells. Vegard's law combined with thermal expansion is applied to calculate the composition of the β‐phase, which is compared with the phase diagram, revealing the system's kinetic behavior for approaching equilibrium.  相似文献

Objective: To provide a critical review of studies on the impact of telecommunication-based interventions for persons with chronic disabilities. Design: Only those studies that focused on specific health care or clinical interview outcomes and included at least 1 comparison condition were selected for review. Ten studies met these criteria. Results: Overall, the results of initial studies suggest that telecommunication-based interventions may be an efficient and effective way of providing services for chronically disabled populations, even for those who have no previous experience with the technologies. Conclusions: The number of controlled trials examining telecommunication-based interventions for those with chronic disabilities remains small. Future research should endeavor to increase sample size, use conceptually meaningful control groups, focus on cost utility, and investigate which types of telecommunication-based interventions provide the best match with specific populations. BACKGROUND: In the adult respiratory distress syndrome, nitric oxide (NO) inhalation improves oxygenation through reducing ventilation-perfusion mismatching, but detailed information on the pulmonary effects of NO inhalation in septic shock is scarce. The present study investigated the effects of inhaled NO on alveolar dead space (Vdalv) and venous admixture as well as on respiratory system compliance (Crs) and respiratory system resistance (Rrs) in a porcine model of septic shock. Protective effects of NO are discussed. METHODS: Thirteen anaesthetised and ventilated pigs were given an infusion of endotoxin for an observation time of 220 min to induce acute lung injury (ALI). In the NO-early group (n=6), an inhalation of 60 ppm NO was started simultaneously with the endotoxin infusion and continued for 190 min. In 7 control/NO-late animals, 60 ppm NO was administered for 30 min following 190 min of endotoxin infusion. Haemodynamics, single-breath CO2-, pressure-, and flow signals were recorded. RESULTS: Endotoxin induced haemoconcentration, pulmonary vasoconstriction, and a decrease in Crs, while venous admixture, Vdalv, and Rrs increased. In the NO-early group, the pulmonary vasoconstriction was attenuated, no increase in pulmonary venous admixture or in Vdalv was seen before cessation of NO, and the improvements in oxygenation outlasted the NO inhalation. In the control/NO-late group, the NO inhalation reversed the changes in dead space and venous admixture. NO had no effect on the changes in respiratory mechanics. CONCLUSION: In porcine ALI, 60 ppm NO diminishes pulmonary vasoconstriction and improves gas exchange by reducing pulmonary venous admixture and alveolar dead space, but does not prevent a fall in Crs. NO inhalation may help prevent long-lasting pulmonary failure.  相似文献

We simulate the charge carrier traffic between the energy bands and the interface states in structures like Al/SiO2/6H–SiC, Al/diamond/Si and Al/SIPOS/Si to explain their high frequency capacitance–voltage behavior. The structures have in common that traditional electrical measurement techniques performed at room temperature are prone to thermal non-equilibrium effects. This can result in large errors in the interface data extracted from such studies when thermal equilibrium conditions are assumed. In this work, high frequency capacitance–voltage data are compared to numerical simulations which include such thermal non-equilibrium conditions to enable more accurate estimates of interface state parameters in above-mentioned structures.  相似文献

Two submerged anaerobic membrane bioreactors (SAnMBRs) (thermophilic vs. mesophilic) were operated for a period of 3.5 months with kraft evaporator condensate at a feed chemical oxygen demand of 10,000 mg/L. The results show that the filtration behavior of the two systems was significantly different. The filtration resistance in the thermophilic SAnMBR was about 5–10 times higher than that of the mesophilic system when operated under similar hydrodynamic conditions. Comparison of sludge properties and cake layer structure from the two systems was made to elucidate major factors governing the different filtration characteristics. There were more soluble microbial products (SMP) and biopolymer clusters (BPC) produced and a larger portion of fine flocs (<15 μm) in the thermophilic SAnMBR. Analysis of bound extracellular polymeric substances (EPS) showed that the thermophilic sludge had a higher protein/polysaccharide ratio in EPS, as compared to that in the mesophilic sludge. A series of analyses, including Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy, energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX), confocal laser scanning microscopy (CLSM), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), atomic force microscopy (AFM) and particle size analyzer showed that the cake layer formed in the thermophilic SAnMBR contained higher levels of both organic and inorganic foulants, smaller particle sizes, and especially, a denser and more compact sludge cake structure. These results indicate that floc size, SMP, BPC, bound EPS as well as cake layer structure are the major factors governing membrane fouling in SAnMBR systems.  相似文献
