The low cost, simplicity, and easy use of battery-powered multirotor aircraft has led to their adoption in commercial, industrial, agricultural, and military applications. These aircraft, however, have limited payloads and shorter endurance and range than fuel-powered conventional aircraft. To extend these key performance metrics, a structural battery is developed that uses commercially available battery cells as load bearing and power source elements for weight critical applications. The cylindrical structural battery is tested in three-point bending and is found to have four times higher stiffness and two times higher yield strength than the structure without battery reinforcement. Simulations of a quadcopter, redesigned with the proposed cylindrical structural batteries, demonstrate 41% longer hover time.  相似文献

Taking advantage of the special properties of shape memory alloys (SMA), a concept of error compensation for microforming with the use of SMA as an actuating/enhancing element was proposed. Simplified analysis of tool structures, FE simulation of forming processes, and experimental tests on the tubular cylinders with SMA enhancement wires showed that the pressures created due to the geometric change of the SMA under the temperature above its transformation value could generate sufficient contraction of the cylinders, compared to the forming-error values predicted for microforming, and hence, they are potentially feasible for the applications to error-compensation in microforming. Based on these results, a detailed microforming-tool design with an SMA-enhanced ring structure has been produced.  相似文献

Field survey of clinical mastitis in low somatic cell count herds   总被引:3,自引:0,他引:3  
Nine commercial dairy herds, each with low herd milk somatic cell counts, were monitored for 1 yr to determine prevalence of intramammary infections and rates of clinical mastitis. Staphylococcus species was the bacterial group most frequently isolated from quarters at calving and at drying off. Environmental streptococci and coliform intramammary infections totaled less than 6% of quarters at both calving and at drying off. Staphylococcus aureus were isolated from less than 1% of quarters and Streptococcus agalactiae from 0% of quarters at both calving and drying off. A total of 646 clinical cases of mastitis were diagnosed in 548 quarters of 406 cows. Mean rate of clinical mastitis among herds was .457 clinical cases/305 cow-days. Rates of clinical mastitis ranged among herds from .273 to .748 clinical cases/305 cow-days. Coliforms and bacteriologically negative and environmental streptococci accounted for 82.3% of clinical cases. Rates of clinical mastitis and severity of clinical signs differed among herds, seasons of the year, parity groups, and stages of lactation. Rates of clinical mastitis were highest during summer, in first lactation cows, and during the first 7 d of lactation.  相似文献

Large diameter metal-on-metal bearings (MOM) are becoming increasingly popular, addressing the needs of young and more active patients. Clinical data has shown excellent short-to-mid-term results, though incidences of transient squeaking have been noted between implantation and up to 2 years post-operative. Geometric design features, such as clearance, have been significant in influencing the performance of the bearings. Sets of MOM bearings with different clearances were investigated in this study using a hip friction simulator to examine the influence of clearance on friction, lubrication and squeaking. The friction factor was found to be highest in the largest clearance bearings under all test conditions. The incidence of squeaking was also highest in the large clearance bearings, with all bearings in this group squeaking throughout the study. A very low incidence of squeaking was observed in the other two clearance groups. The measured lubricating film was found to be lowest in the large clearance bearings. This study suggests that increasing the bearing clearance results in reduced lubricant film thickness, increased friction and an increased incidence of squeaking.  相似文献

Studies of biochemical reactions involved in the decomposition of organic matter in sediments of a facultative oxidations pond have shown that the reactions most sensitive to anaerobic conditions increased in activity with increasing pond depth. Other reactions less affected by anaerobic conditions showed little or no change. Use of these parameters in the examination of malfunctioning ponds is also indicated.  相似文献

Optimal Structure from Motion: Local Ambiguities and Global Estimates   总被引:2,自引:1,他引:1  
Structure From Motion (SFM) refers to the problem of estimating spatial properties of a three-dimensional scene from the motion of its projection onto a two-dimensional surface, such as the retina. We present an analysis of SFM which results in algorithms that are provably convergent and provably optimal with respect to a chosen norm.In particular, we cast SFM as the minimization of a high-dimensional quadratic cost function, and show how it is possible to reduce it to the minimization of a two-dimensional function whose stationary points are in one-to-one correspondence with those of the original cost function. As a consequence, we can plot the reduced cost function and characterize the configurations of structure and motion that result in local minima. As an example, we discuss two local minima that are associated with well-known visual illusions. Knowledge of the topology of the residual in the presence of such local minima allows us to formulate minimization algorithms that, in addition to provably converge to stationary points of the original cost function, can switch between different local extrema in order to converge to the global minimum, under suitable conditions. We also offer an experimental study of the distribution of the estimation error in the presence of noise in the measurements, and characterize the sensitivity of the algorithm using the structure of Fisher's Information matrix.  相似文献

A thermoelastohydrodynamic theory for the analysis of sector thrust bearings is presented. The analysis includes the generalized Reynolds equation and a fully elliptic three-dimensional energy equation in the film. In addition, full three-dimensional heat transfer is allowed in the pad while axisymmetric conduction is allowed in the runner. Three-dimensional elastic deformation due to mechanical and thermal loading is allowed in the pad while axisymmetric mechanical elasticity is allowed in the runner. The performance of a parallel tapered-land thrust bearing including runner deformation effects is analyzed as a function of different models. It is seen that mechanical deformation of the pad affects the operating characteristics only slightly while thermal deformation of the pad can cause large increases in operating temperature. The runner deformation effects can include a reduction of the maximum film temperature at slight deformation or a large increase in film temperature at the inner radius of the pad at larger deformations.  相似文献
