Combustion of heavy fuels is one of the main sources of greenhouse gases, particulate emissions, ashes, NOxand SOx. Gasification is an advanced and environmentally friendly process that generates combustible and clean gas products such as hydrogen. Some entrained flow gasifiers operate with Heavy Fuel Oil(HFO) feedstock. In this application, HFO atomization is very important in determining the performance and efficiency of the gasifiers.The atomization characteristics of HFO(Mazut) discharging from a pressure-swirl atomizer(PSA) are studied for different pressures difference(Δp) and temperatures in the atmospheric ambient. The investigated parameters include atomizer mass flow rate( _m), discharge coefficient(CD), spray cone angle(θ), breakup length(Lb), the unstable wavelength of undulations on the liquid sheet(λs), global and local SMD(sauter mean diameter) and size distribution of droplets. The characteristics of Mazut sheet breakup are deduced from the shadowgraph technique. The experiments on Mazut film breakup were compared with the predictions obtained from the liquid film breakup model. Validity of the theory for predicting maximum unstable wavelength was investigated for HFO(as a highly viscous liquid). A modification on the formulation of maximum unstable wavelength was presented for HFO. SMD decreases by getting far from the atomizer. The measurement for SMD and θ were compared with the available correlations. The comparisons of the available correlations with the measurements of SMD andθ show a good agreement for Ballester and Varde correlations, respectively. The results show that the experimental sizing data could be presented by Rosin-Rammler distributions very well at different pressure difference and temperatures.  相似文献

In the present study, a coal‐integrated gasification combined cycle power plant is simulated. A high‐ash coal and low‐ash coal are considered to compare the performance of the plant. The combined cycle is in typical commercial size with 450 MW capacity. The feeds are Tabas and Illinois #6 coals which approximately contain more than 30% and 10% ash and have higher heating values of 22.7 MJ/kg and 26.8 MJ/kg, respectively. Energy and exergy analyses are done by aspen plus ® and ees , respectively. Energy analysis shows that the overall efficiencies of power plants using high‐ash and low‐ash coals are 33% and 28%, respectively. The result shows that in high‐ash case, 52 kg/s coal, 10 kg/s water, and 1050 kg/s air and in low‐ash case, 48 kg/s coal and 820 kg/s air are required for providing mentioned power, approximately. Exergy analysis shows that maximum exergy destruction is in heat recovery steam generator unit. Investigating the emissions shows that high percent of ash in the coal composition has slight effects on the IGCC pollution. Finally, from thermodynamic viewpoint, it is concluded that the high‐ash coal, like the conventional one, can be used as thermally efficient and environmentally compatible feed of IGCCs. Objective: Brain MRI measures were correlated with neuropsychological function in 35 pediatric-onset multiple sclerosis (MS) patients and 33 age- and sex-matched healthy controls. Method: Mean age of MS patients was 16.3 ± 2.3 years with average disease duration of 4.3 ± 3.1 years. Cortical gray matter, thalamic, and global brain volumes were calculated for all participants using a scaling factor computed using normalization of atrophy method to normalize total and regional brain volumes for head size. T1- and T2-weighted lesion volumes were calculated for MS patients. Results: Cognitive impairment (CI) was identified in 29% of the MS cohort. Cognitive deficits predominantly involved attention and processing speed, expressive language, and visuomotor integration. There are two creep regions with different creep characteristics: short-term creep region “H”, where precipitates and subgrains are thermally stable, and long-term creep region “L”, where thermal coarsening of precipitates and subgrains appear. In region “H”, the normalized subgrain size (λ-λ0)/(λ-λ0) has a linear relation with creep strain and its slope is 10ε−1. But, region L is the time range in which the static recovery and the strain-induced recovery progress simultaneously. In this region, the static recovery accelerates the strain-induced recovery, and subgrain size is larger than that line which neglects the contribution of the static recovery. In region “L”, the Δλλ-strain present a linear relation with a slope 35ε−1. There is a linear relation between hardness and subgrain size. Hardness drop, H0 − H, as a function of Larson-Miller parameter can be a good measure method for assessment of hardness drop and consequently degradation of microstructure. Hardness drop shows an identical slope in creep region “H”, whereas hardness drop due to thermal aging and creep in region “L” show together a similar slope. In region “H”, degradation of microstructure is mainly due to recovery of subgrains controlled by creep plastic deformation, and precipitates do not have a major role. However, in creep region “L”, there are three degradation mechanisms that accelerate creep failure; (1) strain-induced recovery of subgrains due to creep plastic deformation, (2) static-recovery of subgrains and precipitates and (3) strain-induced coarsening of precipitates due to the appearance of static-recovery.  相似文献

In this paper, irreversibility of a thermal energy storage system is numerically investigated. The system consists of two concentric cylinders. The outer cylinder is filled with phase change material (PCM), while working fluid flows inside the inner pipe. The system works periodically. The related governing equations are solved by a control volume-based finite difference method. The effects of different parameters such as PCM size and melting point temperature are examined on the irreversibility of the system. The results show that the irreversibility of thermal storage module is strongly affected by the size of PCM (diameter and length of the external cylinder) and melting temperature. Based on the obtained results, the irreversibility of the system can be reduced by proper selection of PCM size and melting temperature.  相似文献

In this research, stress corrosion cracking (SCC) and corrosion behaviour of API 5L X52 carbon steel in 25?wt-% diethanolamine solution, saturated/unsaturated with carbon dioxide and containing 0 and 200?ppm hydrogen sulphide at different temperatures were investigated using slow strain rate test, electrochemical measurement and microscopic analysis. In addition, the presence of heat stable amine salts (HSASs) in the test solution was studied using spectrophotometry and Fourier transform infra-red spectroscopy. Analysis of the results showed that the primary components to form HSASs exist in the solution. The results indicated that SCC is more likely in solutions without amine. Increase in corrosion rate of carbon steel by increase in temperature was clearly observed and concluded that the simultaneous presence of hydrogen sulphide and carbon dioxide in the solution can increase the corrosion rate of carbon steel more than having one of the gases in the solution.  相似文献

Fibrous monoliths (FMs) exhibit graceful failure in flexure and have higher toughness values. In this research, a mixture of Al2O3 and SiC as the core and graphite as the shell material of fibers were produced by extrusion-molding technique and after aligning along intended directions (0°, 90°, and 0°/90°) were sintered using the hot-pressing method at the temperature of 1500°C under pressure of 35 MPa for 1 hour. The significance of fibers orientation angle and the cell to cell boundary volume ratio in defining the fracture behavior of the FMs was detected. Because of the extensive crack interactions with graphite cell boundary such as crack deflection and delamination, with increasing cell boundary content from 25 to 30 vol%, the fracture toughness was enhanced. The highest flexural strength (184.8 ± 0.61 MPa) obtained from samples with 0° fibers orientation compared to 0°/90°. Since in the transverse plies (layers with 90° aligning), the properties of matrix phase are dominant, hence the strength in specimens with 0°/90° fibers orientation decreased considerably due to weak graphite matrix phase. In addition, the fracture toughness value increased up to 8.35 ± 0.74 MPa·m1/2 for the unidirectional architecture of (0°) in comparison with cross-ply (0°/90°) architecture.  相似文献

The objective of this study was to investigate the effects of supplementing with L-tryptophan (L-Trp) on milk protein synthesis using an immortalized bovine mammary epithelial (MAC-T) cell line. Cells were treated with 0, 0.3, 0.6, 0.9, 1.2, and 1.5 mM of supplemental L-Trp, and the most efficient time for protein synthesis was determined by measuring cell, medium, and total protein at 0, 24, 48, 72, and 96 h. Time and dose tests showed that the 48 h incubation time and a 0.9 mM dose of L-Trp were the optimal values. The mechanism of milk protein synthesis was elucidated through proteomic analysis to identify the metabolic pathway involved. When L-Trp was supplemented, extracellular protein (medium protein) reached its peak at 48 h, whereas intracellular cell protein reached its peak at 96 h with all L-Trp doses. β-casein mRNA gene expression and genes related to milk protein synthesis, such as mammalian target of rapamycin (mTOR) and ribosomal protein 6 (RPS6) genes, were also stimulated (p < 0.05). Overall, there were 51 upregulated and 59 downregulated proteins, many of which are involved in protein synthesis. The results of protein pathway analysis showed that L-Trp stimulated glycolysis, the pentose phosphate pathway, and ATP synthesis, which are pathways involved in energy metabolism. Together, these results demonstrate that L-Trp supplementation, particularly at 0.9 mM, is an effective stimulus in β-casein synthesis by stimulating genes, proteins, and pathways related to protein and energy metabolism.  相似文献

Optimization of drilling fluid parameters such as mud weight, salt concentration, and temperature is essential to alleviating instability problems when drilling through shale sections, particularly in high-pressure and high-temperature environments. Under these conditions, selection of suitable mud parameters can benefit from analyses that consider significant thermal and chemo–mechanical processes involved in shale–drilling fluid interactions. A non-isothermal poroelastic theory suitable for shales is presented herein. Phenomena related to thermal and chemical osmosis are considered by extending the theory of porothermoelasticity to chemically active rocks. The modified pore pressure and stresses around a borehole in shale are obtained by solving the porothermoelastic field equations in generalized plane strain. Application of the solution to a typical field operational situation has demonstrated that thermal osmosis can significantly impact formation pore pressure, thereby reducing stability. Furthermore, analyses based on the new porothermoelastic formulation for shales suggest that mud temperature should be optimized in order to maximize the efficacy of chemical osmosis in stabilizing the borehole.  相似文献
