We present PKIP, an adaptable learning assistant tool for managing question items in item banks. PKIP is not only able to automatically assist educational users to categorize the question items into predefined categories by their contents but also to correctly retrieve the items by specifying the category and/or the difficulty level. PKIP adapts the “categorization learning model” to improve the system’s categorization performance using the incoming question items. PKIP tool has an advantage over the traditional document categorization methods in that it can correctly categorize the question item which lacks keywords since it adopts the feature selection technique and support vector machine approach to item bank text categorization. In our initial experimentation, PKIP was designed and implemented to manage the Thai high primary mathematics question items. PKIP was tested and evaluated in terms of both system accuracy and user satisfaction. The evaluation result shows that the system accuracy is acceptable and PKIP satisfies the need of the users.  相似文献

Learning a second language is very difficult, especially, for the disabled; the disability may be a barrier to learn and to utilize information written in text form. We present the SignMT, Thai sign to Thai machine translation system, which is able to translate from Thai sign language into Thai text. In the translation process, SignMT takes into account the differences between Thai and Thai sign language in terms of both syntax and semantic to ensure the accuracy of translation. SignMT was designed to be not only an automatic interpreter but also a language learning tool. It provides meaning of each word in both text and image forms which is easy to understand by the deaf. The grammar information and the order of the sentence are presented in order to help the deaf in learning Thai, their second language. With SignMT, deaf students are less dependent on a teacher, have more freedom to experiment with their own language, and improve their knowledge and learning skill.  相似文献

We propose Generate and Repair Machine Translation (GRMT), a constraint–based approach to machine translation that focuses on accurate translation output. GRMT performs the translation by generating a Translation Candidate (TC), verifying the syntax and semantics of the TC and repairing the TC when required. GRMT comprises three modules: Analysis Lite Machine Translation (ALMT), Translation Candidate Evaluation (TCE) and Repair and Iterate (RI). The key features of GRMT are simplicity, modularity, extendibility, and multilinguality.
An English–Thai translation system has been implemented to illustrate the performance of GRMT. The system has been developed and run under SWI–Prolog 3.2.8. The English and Thai grammars have been developed based on Head–Driven Phrase Structure Grammar (HPSG) and implemented on the Attribute Logic Engine (ALE). GRMT was tested to generate the translations for a number of sentences/phrases. Examples are provided throughout the article to illustrate how GRMT performs the translation process.  相似文献

The authors explore three topics in computational intelligence: machine translation, machine learning and user interface design and speculate on their effects on Web intelligence. Systems that can communicate naturally and learn from interactions will power Web intelligence's long term success. The large number of problems requiring Web-specific solutions demand a sustained and complementary effort to advance fundamental machine-learning research and incorporate a learning component into every Internet interaction. Traditional forms of machine translation either translate poorly, require resources that grow exponentially with the number of languages translated, or simplify language excessively. Recent success in statistical, nonlinguistic, and hybrid machine translation suggests that systems based on these technologies can achieve better results with a large annotated language corpus. Adapting existing computational intelligence solutions, when appropriate for Web intelligence applications, must incorporate a robust notion of learning that will scale to the Web, adapt to individual user requirements, and personalize interfaces.  相似文献

p ‐Hydroxyphenylacetate 3‐hydroxylase component 1 (C 1) is a useful enzyme for generating reduced flavin and NAD+ intermediates. In this study, poly(lactide‐co‐glycolide) (PLGA) nanoparticles (NPs) were used to encapsulate the C 1 (PLGA‐C 1 NPs). Enzymatic activity, stability, and reusability of PLGA‐C 1 NPs prepared using three different methods [oil in water (o/w), water in oil in water (w/o/w), and solid in oil in water (s/o/w)] were compared. The s/o/w provided the optimal conditions for encapsulation of C 1 (PLGA‐C 1,s NPs), giving the highest enzyme activity, stability, and reusability. The s/o/w method improves enzyme activity ∼11 and 9‐fold compared to w/o/w (PLGA‐C 1,w NPs) and o/w (PLGA‐C 1,o NPs). In addition, s/o/w prepared PLGA‐C 1,s NPs could be reused 14 times with nearly 50% activity remaining, a much higher reusability compared to PLGA‐C 1,o NPs and PLGA‐C 1,w NPs. These nanovesicles were successfully utilised to generate reduced flavin mononucleotide (FMN) and supply this cofactor to a hydroxylase enzyme that has application for synthesising anti‐inflammatory compounds. Therefore, this recycling biocatalyst prepared using the s/o/w method is effective and has the potential for use in combination with other enzymes that require reduced FMN. Application of PLGA‐C 1,s NPs may be possible in additional biocatalytic processes for chemical or biochemical production.Inspec keywords: nanoparticles, enzymes, biotechnology, biochemistry, recycling, catalysts, nanofabrication, encapsulationOther keywords: reductase component, poly(lactide‐co‐glycolide) nanoparticles, emulsification techniques, p‐hydroxyphenylacetate 3‐hydroxylase component, NAD+ intermediates, PLGA, enzymatic activity, PLGA‐C1 reusability, water in oil in water methods, solid in oil in water methods, oil in water methods, optimal conditions, encapsulation, enzyme stability, enzyme reusability, s/o/w method, reduced flavin mononucleotide, hydroxylase enzyme, anti‐inflammatory compounds, recycling biocatalyst, FMN, biocatalytic processes, biochemical production, chemical production  相似文献

A multiphase machine translation approach, Generate and Repair Machine Translation (GRMT), is proposed. GRMT is designed to generate accurate translations that focus primarily on retaining the linguistic meaning of the source language sentence. GRMT presently incorporates a limited multilingual translation capability. The central idea behind the GRMT approach is to generate a translationcandidate (TC) by quick and dirty machine translation (QDMT), then investigate the accuracy of that TC by translation candidate evaluation (TCE), and, if necessary, revise the translation in the repair and iterate (RI) phase. To demonstrate the GRMT approach, a translation system that translates from English to Thai has been developed. This paper presents the design characteristics and some experimental results of QDMT and also the initial design, some experiments, and proposed ideas behind TCE and RI.  相似文献

Graft copolymerizations of acrylamide and maleic acid onto cassava starch by a simultaneous irradiation technique using γ-rays as an initiator were carried out. Various important parameters of total dose, dose rate, monomer-to-cassava starch ratio and maleic acid content were studied. Addition of 2% w w−1 diprotic acid of maleic acid into the reaction mixture yields a saponified starch graft copolymer with a water absorption in distilled water as high as 2256 g g−1 of its dried weight. The water absorption of these saponified graft copolymers in saline and buffer solutions was also measured. The water absorption depends largely on the cationic type and concentration of these solutions in terms of ionic strength. This research explains a charge transfer mechanism for graft copolymerization of maleic acid and acrylamide onto cassava starch, and describes the influential parameters that affect grafting efficiency and water absorption.  相似文献

We present the Intelligent Thai text – Thai sign translation for language learning (IT3STL). IT3STL is able to translate Thai text into Thai sign language simply and conveniently anytime, anywhere. Thai sign language is the language of the deaf in Thailand. In the translation process, the distinction between Thai text and Thai sign language in both grammar and vocabulary are concerned in each processing step to ensure the accuracy of translation. IT3STL was designed not only to be an automatic interpreter but also to be a language tutor assistant. It provides meaning of each word and describes the structure formation and word order of the translated sentence. With IT3STL, the deaf and hearing-impaired are able to enhance their communication ability and to improve their knowledge and learning skills. Moreover IT3STL has increased motivation and opportunity for them to access multimedia and e-learning.  相似文献
