A three-dimensional (3D) computational fluid dynamics (CFD) model of a contact tank is presented in this paper. The model results are compared against 3D velocities and flow through curve (FTC) data, representing a tracer concentration profile, from a 1:8 scale physical model. The objective is to demonstrate that CFD models can simulate both the FTC and the 3D velocity field quite well. Simultaneous validation of velocities and FTC is important in ascertaining the predictive capabilities of CFD models, as physical model studies indicate that different baffle arrangements can lead to similar FTCs. Therefore, a good prediction of only FTC, as presented in previous 3D CFD model studies, does not necessarily imply a correct simulation of the flow field.  相似文献

In this paper we propose a new method to estimate parameters of a dynamical system from observation data on the basis of a neural network collocation method. We construct an object function consisting of squared residuals of dynamical model equations at collocation points and squared deviations of the observations from their corresponding computed values. The neural network is then trained by optimizing the object function.The proposed method is demonstrated by performing several numerical experiments for the optimal estimates of parameters for two different nonlinear systems. Firstly, we consider the weakly and highly nonlinear cases of the Lorenz model and apply the method to estimate the optimum values of parameters for the two cases under various conditions. Then we apply it to estimate the parameters of one-dimensional oscillator with nonlinear damping and restoring terms representing the nonlinear ship roll motion under various conditions. Nickel ferrite (NiFe2O4) nanoparticles and Cu0.5Tl0.5Ba2Ca2Cu3O10?δ (CuTl-1223) superconductor were prepared separately and then mixed in an appropriate ratios at the final stage to obtain (NiFe2O4) x /CuTl-1223 (x = 0, 0.5, and 1.0 wt%) nano-superconductor composites. There was no significant change observed in crystal structure of the host CuTl-1223 superconducting matrix after the addition of NiFe2O4 nanoparticles. The value of zero-resistivity critical temperature { T c(R = 0) (K)} was decreased with increasing content of these nanoparticles in these composites. Maximum values of dielectric loss tangent (tanδ) at lowest possible frequency of 40 Hz were increased with the increase of operating temperature, while its values were decreased and become almost zero at higher frequencies for all these samples at all operating temperatures. A peak in dielectric loss tangent was shifted towards lower frequency values with the addition of these nanoparticles in CuTl-1223 superconducting matrix. The dielectric loss tangent peak was also shifted towards lower frequency values in all these samples with increasing operating temperature, which shows the relaxator-like behavior in these samples. The dielectric parameters of these composites can be tuned by frequency, operating temperatures, and nature and content of these nanoparticles.  相似文献

Sol-gel and solid-state reaction methods were used to synthesize diamond nanoparticles (DNPs) and (DNPs) x /CuTl-1223 (x = 0, 0.25, 0.50, and 1.00 wt.%) nanoparticle-superconductor composites, respectively. Effects of these DNPs on structural, morphological, compositional, and transport properties of CuTl-1223 superconducting phase were investigated by different experimental techniques such as X-ray diffraction (XRD), energy dispersive X-ray (EDX) spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and resistivity versus temperature (R-T) measurements. The unchanged crystal structure and stoichiometry of host CuTl-1223 superconducting matrix with addition of DNPs gave evidence about the dispersion of nanoparticles at the grain boundaries of the host matrix, which may heal up the inter-granular voids and pores resulting in enhanced inter-grain connectivity. Critical transition temperature T c (0) and hole concentration of CuTl-1223 superconductor were observed to be increased with addition of DNPs up to a certain optimum value (i.e. x = 0.5 wt.%).  相似文献
