Antioxidant activities of the methanol extract/fractions of Acacia auriculiformis A. Cunn were evaluated by three in vitro experiments, namely, DPPH, relative reducing power and hydroxyl radical (site specific and non site specific) assays. The differential activities of methanol extract/fractions could be correlated with their respective total phenolic contents and compared with standards (BHT and l-ascorbic acid.). The bark powder of the plant was extracted with different solvents of increasing and decreasing polarity by a maceration extraction method and then the methanol extract was further partitioned with ethyl acetate and water. The scavenging activity of extract was found to be enhanced on fractionating the extract. Moreover, among the two fractions (ethyl acetate and water fraction) and the crude extract, the water fraction exhibited good scavenging responses of 72.0%, (57.2%), 1.76 (1.52), 88.0% (82.6%) and 93.6% (83.47) in DPPH, reducing power, site specific and non-site specific hydroxyl radical scavenging assay in increasing and (decreasing) order of solvent polarity at maximum concentration, respectively. Studies are in progress to evaluate the effect of extracts/fractions in other antioxidant assays and to identify the factors responsible for the activity.  相似文献

The present study aimed at improving phytonutritional profile of traditional snack (bhujia) by incorporating variety bell pepper. The bell peppers were dried at 50°C which resulted in 4.94%–8.16% increase in total phenols whereas, retained approximately 92.49% total carotenoids and 91.36% of the antioxidant activity in terms of DPPH radical scavenging activity. Gram flour at 5.0% (w/w) level of bell pepper powders was optimized for developing bhujia which significantly (p ≤ 0.05) increased bulk density, minerals, phytonutritional profile, and sensory attributes of bhujia. Total phenols of developed bhujia increased by approximately 11% and antioxidant activity was found 3.5 times as compared to control. Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy showed the presence of various phytochemicals compounds in the prepared products compared to control. Storage studies (at 25–30°C/50%–87% RH) revealed that the physicochemical parameters remained unaffected except moisture which increased significantly. However, peroxide value and free fatty acids remained well within maximum permissible limits.  相似文献

The present work reports the synthesis of magnesium oxide nanoparticles (MgO NP’s) using A. barbadensis Mill (aloe vera) as the stabilizer by green synthesis approach as well as solution-combustion method. The morphological, structural and optical properties of synthesized MgO NP’s were characterized by transmission electron microscopy, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy, and X-ray diffraction. The characterization results show the fibrous shaped porous structure of synthesized MgO NP’s with size range of 2–25 nm. The as-synthesized MgO NP’s were subjected to sensing of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) having different concentration ranges (400–1000 ppm) and different operating temperatures along with dynamic characteristics. The sensor exhibits high selectivity and sensitivity towards LPG.  相似文献

Technology has been advancing day by day and smart phones are providing challenges for the development of latest and sophisticated mobile applications. Talkback feature of Android makes it easy to access touch screen devices, but specially abled people are facing various problems in existing mobile applications. All mobile applications are not following the feature of Talkback and there is a lack of tactile feature. Considering these points, the present study is an attempt to develop a mobile application based on voice and gestures to provide communication services to specially abled people. The mobile application has been developed with the help of android studio and a special mobile case. The mobile case designed to help the beginners of developed mobile application. Color combination technique of green computing has been used to design the layout of mobile application for saving power. Four edge method has also been used in the designing part of mobile application’s layout to make it more accessible. The findings of the study revealed that the developed mobile application helps the end user to access features of mobile phone such as call, message, date, time etc. The developed mobile application assists the specially abled people having visual impairment or totally blind. The paper elaborates the design and development phase of mobile application in detail. Furthermore, applications of developed mobile applications have also been highlighted.

The antioxidant potency of acetone extract/fractions of Acacia auriculiformis A. Cunn. was investigated by employing various in vitro systems, such as DPPH, deoxyribose (site- and non-site-specific), reducing power, chelating power and lipid peroxidation in rat liver homogenate. The bark powder of the plant was extracted with different solvents by a maceration method in order of increasing and decreasing polarities and then partitioned (  and ). It was observed that the fractions were comparatively more effective than the crude acetone extract in all the assays. Maximum inhibitory activities noticed were 72.3%, 91.7%, 1.63, 83.3%, and 70.9% in DPPH, deoxyribose, reducing power, chelating power and lipid peroxidation assays, respectively. The inhibitory potential was compared with known antioxidants (ascorbic acid and BHT) and correlated with the total phenolic content in crude extract and fractions. Fractions rich in polyphenolic content were more effective than crude extract. Further studies are underway to isolate and elucidate the structures of the active principles.  相似文献
