Application of Image Recognition to the Verification of Dial Gauges

Design of automatic verification apparatus of dial gauges and the reading method of the pointer indicating values in the verification process is introduced. The verification apparatus adopts highprecision grating and makes the use of computer, and utilizes grating to measure the displacement of the dial gauge handspike, and uses CCD camera to acquire dial image, at last acquires dial indicated value after image recognition and data processing on computer. The system avoids manual reading, and increases verification efficiency greatly, and can automatically accomplish the indication error verification of all kinds of dial gauges. The paper emphasizes the composing principle, mechanical structure and software arithmetic of the verification apparatus. In addition, the indication error is also discussed.
