Synthesis of Benzylacetate Using Chitosan Sulfate as Catalyst

Benzylacetate was synthesized by the esterification of acetic acid with benzylalcohol using chitosan sulfate as catalyst.The influences of amount of catalyst and reaction time were studied and discussed.The experimented result indicated that when the amount of catalyst was 0 4 g and reaction time was 2 5 h, the yield rate of the product was 83 % and the catalyst could be used for many times.
