协调翻译理论下英汉习语翻译的策略选择

习语通常具有浓厚的民族色彩和鲜明的文化内涵,它的翻译好坏会直接影响文化交流的程度。在翻译时,是保留源语的文化内涵,还是采取贴近目的语文化的文字,向来是争论的焦点。在协调翻译理论的前提下,存在四种不同情况下英汉习语的翻译策略的选择。在英汉习语的翻译中,应树立协调的翻译观,协调处理归化和异化,综合考虑各方面的因素来决定英汉习语翻译的策略,最终达到促进文化交流的目的。

Strategy Selection for Translating English and Chinese Idioms Based on Coordinated Translation Theory

The idioms usually contain strong national colors and distinctive cultural connotations and the translation of which will directly affect the degree of cultural exchange.It is always disputable as to whether to retain the cultural connotations of the source language or to use the expressions of the target language.The paper introduces four strategies to translate English and Chinese idioms based on coordinated translation theory and puts forward such views as flexible use of domestication and foreignization methods and the comprehensive choice of strategies in order to promote the cultural communication.
