本文讨论了MC-CDMA多媒体数据规划协议,多媒体数据按BER指标分类,根据各类数据BER要求,采用蚂蚁算法对用户分组数据进行规划.对照传统的"先到先服务"(FCFS)方法,进行了仿真分析,结果表明平均吞吐率、平均时延及平均丢包率均有改善.  相似文献

In the third-generation (and beyond) wireless communication systems, there will be a mixture of different traffic classes, each having its own transmission rate characteristics and quality-of-service (QoS) requirements. In this paper, a QoS-oriented medium access control (MAC) protocol with fair packet loss sharing (FPLS) scheduling is proposed for wireless code-division multiple access (CDMA) communications. The QoS parameters under consideration are the transmission bit error rate (BER), packet loss, and delay requirements. The MAC protocol exploits both time-division and code-division statistical multiplexing. The BER requirements are guaranteed by properly arranging simultaneous packet transmissions and controlling there transmit power levels, whereas the packet loss and delay requirements are guaranteed by proper packet scheduling. The basic idea of FPLS is to schedule the transmission of multimedia packets in such a way that all the users have a fair share of packet loss according to their QoS requirements, which maximizes the number of the served users under the QoS constraints. Simulation results demonstrate effectiveness of the FPLS scheduler, in comparison with other previously proposed scheduling algorithms.  相似文献

This paper presents a novel radio channel structure based on slotted CDMA technology intended for carrying traffic with diverse bandwidth/QoS requirements in mobile environments, e.g. personal communication systems (PCS). The essence of our approach is a combination of flexible slotting with allocation of multiple codes to high‐bandwidth mobiles. As demonstrated by our performance studies, the proposed scheme efficiently integrates multiple traffic classes into a unified CDMA system. 提出了一种基于概率检测的时隙式多通道随机多址接入(SPMRM)控制协议,通过对时间离散化的多通道负载均衡、优先级控制、概率p检测控制,实现了系统的多业务通信,使所研究的无线通信网络具有较高的通道利用率。通过数学建模分析,得到了SPMRM控制协议的吞吐量解析结果,理论分析与仿真实验相一致。另外,在仿真实验中还给出了连续时间型系统的比较结果,进一步说明SPMRM控制协议具有较优的系统性能。  相似文献

A combined hybrid automatic repeat request (ARQ) error control and adaptive scheduling scheme is proposed for time-division multiple access/time-division duplex medium access control (MAC) protocols in wireless asynchronous transfer mode (ATM) networks. Specifically, with the aid of proper channel modeling, the performance of various error-control schemes is evaluated. Accordingly, type-II hybrid ARQ is chosen as the error recovery scheme to combat fading effects, while adaptive fair-queueing is designed to achieve a fair and efficient resource allocation in wireless channels. In particular, the weight of a connection used in the fair-queueing algorithm dynamically adapts in terms of varying channel conditions and the types of services. Various simulations are conducted in typical indoor wireless ATM networks. It is shown that the proposed scheme can achieve a high throughput and transfer reliability with minimized delay and cell loss rate when compared with the conventional MAC layer control.  相似文献

We propose and investigate a new type of satellite multiple access protocol that combines the characteristics of the spread slotted (SS)-ALOHA protocol, code division multiple access (CDMA), and the hybrid automatic repeat request (ARQ) error controlling and retransmission scheme, in order to increase the throughput by reducing the number of retransmissions and to keep the bit error rate (BER) of the satellite link low when the channel experiences heavy traffic. The main feature of our proposed system is the utilization of two different fields in the analysis of the satellite multiple access problem. Since the hub now possesses the forward error correction (FEC) capability to correct errors that appear after the CDMA despreading of the packets, the satellite does not need to ask so often for the retransmission of erroneous packets and will ask for retransmission only when the FEC error correcting capability is exceeded. This paper also presents the adaptive optimization of the balance between the CDMA processing gain and FEC coding gain in order to obtain a better throughput for the SS-CDMA/ALOHA with hybrid ARQ protocol for satellite multiple access. The optimization is made with the constraint of keeping the bandwidth of the transmitted packets constant during all times. According to this, the effective throughput of the protocol (information bits over total transmitted bits ratio) is improved by adaptively changing the CDMA and FEC codes used in the transmission. This adaptive optimization is done by observing the channel status or load and increasing or decreasing both coding schemes' gains. This paper focuses on performance analysis of a CDMA wireless data network based on hierarchy schedule-sensing (HSS) protocol, in which a common-code permission frame beacon is used to schedule request transmissions to avoid packet collisions. To further reduce scheduling delay, hierarchical group-based coding is adopted in the scheme. The performance of such a network is evaluated considering packet collisions with and without packet capture effect using a two-dimensional Markovian chain model. In particular, this paper will study the impact of multiple packet-collision effect on network performance with the help of the average packet-collision rate derived explicitly in the paper. The obtained results show that, despite its low implementation complexity, the HSS protocol is a fairly robust medium-access control protocol featuring uniformly high throughput and short delay even under very high traffic load, which especially suits data-centric wireless networks with relatively small coverage area and great node density.  相似文献

An accurate approximation for calculating bit error rates in direct sequence code division multiple access (CDMA) radio systems using binary phase shift keyed (BPSK) signaling is presented. All interfering users are assumed to employ random signature sequences, but the desired signal can be structured with either a random or a deterministic spreading code. In this study we focus on the serious scalability problems that many access protocols for WDM ring networks introduce due to the use of a dedicated wavelength per access node for either transmission or reception. We propose an efficient slotted MAC protocol suitable for WDM ring metropolitan area networks. The proposed network architecture employs a separate wavelength for control information exchange prior to the data packet transmission. Each access node is equipped with a pair of tunable transceivers for data communication and a pair of fixed tuned transceivers for control information exchange. Also, each access node includes a set of fixed delay lines for synchronization reasons; to keep the data packets, while the control information is processed. An efficient access algorithm is applied to avoid both the data wavelengths and the receiver collisions. In our protocol, each access node is capable of transmitting and receiving over any of the data wavelengths, facing the scalability issues. Two different slot reuse schemes are assumed: the source and the destination stripping schemes. For both schemes, performance measures evaluation is provided via an analytic model. The analytical results are validated by a discrete event simulation model that uses Poisson traffic sources. Simulation results show that the proposed protocol manages efficient bandwidth utilization, especially under high load. Also, comparative simulation results prove that our protocol achieves significant performance improvement as compared with other WDMA protocols which restrict transmission over a dedicated data wavelength. Finally, performance measures evaluation is explored for diverse numbers of buffer size, access nodes and data wavelengths.  相似文献

This letter investigates the possibility of integrating voice and data communications in a CDMA wireless packet network to provide access to a base station over a common short-range radio uplink channel for many spatially dispersed voice and data user terminals. Speech activity detection is assumed for voice communications to temporarily devote codes unused by voice user terminals during silence periods to data transmissions. The network proposed exhibits a good performance both in terms of quality of voice communications which is independent of data transmissions and maximum data traffic load supported with bounded delay  相似文献

A frequency division duplex (FDD) wideband code division multiple access (CDMA) medium access control (MAC) protocol is developed for wireless wide area multimedia networks. In order to reach the maximum system capacity and guarantee the heterogeneous bit error rates (BERs) of multimedia traffic, a minimum-power allocation algorithm is first derived, where both multicode (MC) and orthogonal variable spreading factor (OVSF) transmissions are assumed. Based on the minimum-power allocation algorithm, a multimedia wideband CDMA generalized processor sharing (GPS) scheduling scheme is proposed. It provides fair queueing to multimedia traffic with different QoS constraints. It also takes into account the limited number of code channels for each user and the variable system capacity due to interference experienced by users in a CDMA network. To control the admission of real-time connections, a connection admission control (CAC) scheme is proposed, in which the effective bandwidth admission region is derived based on the minimum-power allocation algorithm. With the proposed resource management algorithms, the MAC protocol significantly increases system throughput, guarantees BER, and improves QoS metrics of multimedia traffic.  相似文献

In a wireless network, where propagation delay is high but known, slotted Aloha (S-Aloha) is synchronized with respect to the receiver’s time slots. Since the transmitter knows the propagation delay to its receiver, after a frame is generated, the transmitter introduces a suitable delay before its transmission, such that the frame arrives exactly in a slot at the receiver. However, in an underwater wireless network, due to significantly less signal propagation speed, the channel dynamics has a significant effect on the time dispersion of propagation speed. Due to this uncertainty in propagation speed, even if the transmitter–receiver distance is exactly known, it is likely that a perfect synchronization at the receiver is not possible.In this paper, we first show that, even a little-less-than-perfect synchronization at the receiver reduces the throughput of receiver synchronized S-Aloha (RSS-Aloha) to that of pure Aloha. We modify the RSS-Aloha for underwater by accommodating the error in delay estimate while deciding the receiver-end slot size. Via probabilistic analysis, supported by simulations, we show that our proposed modified protocol offers a gradual increase in throughput as the propagation delay uncertainty decreases. We also show that the throughput of our proposed modified protocol is consistently higher compared to the transmitter synchronized S-Aloha when operating under the same propagation delay uncertainty. However, when the uncertainty is high, delay performance of the modified RSS-Aloha remains poorer than that of the transmitter synchronized S-Aloha in a system with smaller nodal communication range.  相似文献

Due to the high frame error rate in wireless communication channels, an additional link layer protocol, Radio Link Protocol (RLP), has been introduced in the newly approvedData Services Option Standard for Wideband Spread Spectrum Digital Cellular System. In this paper, we investigate performance issues of a typical Cod Division Multiple Access (CDMA) wireless link using the protocol stack given in the standard. In particular, we focus on the dynamics of the TCP and RLP layers of the protocol stack since the fluctuation of system performance is largely caused by Automatic Repeat Request (ARQ) mechanisms implemented at these two layers. We compare the network performance of default parameter setting to those of other possible parameter settings. Analytical and simulation results presented in this paper can provide guidance to those attempting to further improve performance of interest.  相似文献

Medium access control (MAC) protocols making use of multipacket reception (MPR) capability achieve better throughput than conventional MAC protocols. When a wireless network operates with MPR capable nodes and non‐MPR nodes, the MAC protocols must not only utilise the MPR capability to maximise throughput, but must also enable the co‐existence with these two types of nodes. We propose a new MPR MAC protocol to achieve the co‐existence requirement by adopting a request‐to‐send (RTS)/clear‐to‐send (CTS) mechanism in IEEE 802.11 MAC standards. This MPR MAC protocol also improves throughput by allowing additional data transmissions to use the MPR capability fully. We analyse the system throughput of the co‐existence of different link characteristics of nodes, and optimise its throughput by adjusting contention window sizes with respect to certain throughput requirements of the nodes. We introduce AsyMAC, a MAC layer protocol for wireless networks with asymmetric links and study a protocol stack consisting of AsyMAC and the A4LP routing protocol. The two protocols are able to maintain connectivity where the standard IEEE 802.11 MAC protocol coupled with either AODV or OLSR routing protocols may loose connectivity. A comparative study shows that AsyMAC improves on two previously proposed protocols’ accuracy in determining the nodes to be silenced to prevent collisions.  相似文献

The use of anonymous channel tickets was proposed for authentication in wireless environments to provide user anonymity and to probably reduce the overhead of re‐authentications. Recently, Yang et al. proposed a secure and efficient authentication protocol for anonymous channel in wireless systems without employing asymmetric cryptosystems. In this paper, we will show that Yang et al.'s scheme is vulnerable to guessing attacks performed by malicious visited networks, which can easily obtain the secret keys of the users. We propose a new practical authentication scheme not only reserving the merits of Yang et al.'s scheme, but also extending some additional merits including: no verification table in the home network, free of time synchronization between mobile stations and visited networks, and without obsolete anonymous tickets left in visited networks. The proposed scheme is developed based on a secure one‐way hash function and simple operations, a feature which is extremely fit for mobile devices.
