B-cell and T-cell immunoblastic lymphomas of baboons

The results of morphological study of B- and T-cellular immunoblast baboon lymphomas are presented. Differences are found both in the structure of tumour cells and in the histostructure of tumours as a whole. The tumor cells of B-immunoblastic lymphomas expressed mainly IgM. The tumour cells of certain T-immunoblastic lymphomas being investigated by means of monoclonal OKT4 antibodies had a surface phenotype peculiar to T-helper cells.     

Fast location of high-order modes for boxed microstrip with finite strip thickness

Many analyses of boxed microstrip discontinuities require the location of large numbers of high-order modes. Using Sturm-Liouville theory, this letter derives a relationship between microstrip modes and slab-loaded guide modes, leading to an efficient mode location algorithm for microstrip, including microstrip with finite strip thickness.<>

Methods for the determination of sodium or sodium-containing components in wood and wood-based products are described. Sodium contents are shown for wood, urea formaldehyde (UF) resins, resol-type phenol formaldehyde (PF) resins, and particleboards produced with these resins.     

Progress toward roll-to-roll processing of inorganic monolithic electrochromic devices on polymeric substrates

As electrochromic device (ECD) emerges into the market, the necessity of cost reduction via high-throughput manufacturing is unavoidable. Inorganic monolithic ECD has compatibility in its manufacturing steps, allows continuous processing and hence low-cost ECD. A roll-to-roll (R2R) production is the industrial standard for high-throughput processing and was chosen to synthesize ECD on polymeric substrates. Preliminary success by implementing methods compatible to the aforementioned R2R processing has been achieved; however, continuous test-runs on an R2R machine are still limited.     

Audio Denoising by Time-Frequency Block Thresholding

Removing noise from audio signals requires a nondiagonal processing of time-frequency coefficients to avoid producing ldquomusical noise.rdquo State of the art algorithms perform a parameterized filtering of spectrogram coefficients with empirically fixed parameters. A block thresholding estimation procedure is introduced, which adjusts all parameters adaptively to signal property by minimizing a Stein estimation of the risk. Numerical experiments demonstrate the performance and robustness of this procedure through objective and subjective evaluations.     

Nucleation of copper on an assembly of carbon microelectrodes

The initial stage of copper electrodeposition on the electrochemically activated assembly of carbon microelectrodes from an acid solution of copper sulfate was investigated using cyclic voltammetry, potentiostatic pulse technique and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy. Analysis of the experimental current transients has been carried out using a non-linear fitting procedure according to the model that takes into account spherical diffusion towards a disc-shaped microelectrode. The higher values of diffusion coefficient in comparison with those observed on planar electrodes were explained with an increased diffusion caused by the electrode geometry. Impedance spectra showed two time constants, the high-frequency related to the charge transfer process and the low-frequency corresponded to the deposit morphology.     

Methane conversion in a plasma created by a periodic-pulsed electron beam and non-self-sustained discharge

The process of methane conversion in a mixture modeling the natural gas under the action of a periodic nanosecond pulsed electron beam and an electron-beam-induced non-self-sustained discharge has been numerically simulated and studied in experiment. The possibility of methane conversion under the action of electric pulses without significant heating of the processed gas mixture is demonstrated for the first time. The main conversion products in experiment were hydrogen, ethylene, and acetylene.
