An interface bioreactor was used in the biodesulfurization (BDS) of dibenzothiophene (DBT) with Rhodococcus erythropolis ATCC 53968. Although this strain could efficiently degrade DBT to 2-hydroxybiphenyl (2-HBP), the microbial film peeled off from the surface of the carrier (agar plate) to an organic phase (dodecane or tetradecane). To overcome this problem, a UV mutant, which strongly adhered to the carrier surface, was obtained by a new screening method. The best UV mutant (UM-021) could efficiently catalyze the BDS and the microbial film did not peel off from the surface of the carrier to tetradecane layer.  相似文献

Spatial indexing of high-dimensional data based on relative approximation   总被引:2,自引:0,他引:2  
We propose a novel index structure, the A-tree (approximation tree), for similarity searches in high-dimensional data. The basic idea of the A-tree is the introduction of virtual bounding rectangles (VBRs) which contain and approximate MBRs or data objects. VBRs can be represented quite compactly and thus affect the tree configuration both quantitatively and qualitatively. First, since tree nodes can contain a large number of VBR entries, fanout becomes large, which increases search speed. More importantly, we have a free hand in arranging MBRs and VBRs in the tree nodes. Each A-tree node contains an MBR and its children VBRs. Therefore, by fetching an A-tree node, we can obtain information on the exact position of a parent MBR and the approximate position of its children. We have performed experiments using both synthetic and real data sets. For the real data sets, the A-tree outperforms the SR-tree and the VA-file in all dimensionalities up to 64 dimensions, which is the highest dimension in our experiments. Water vapor adsorption of ground cefditoren pivoxil was studied. The amount of water adsorbed increased with a decrease in the crystallinity of cefditoren pivoxil. It was found from the microcalorimetric measurements that the differential heat of water vapor adsorption at 1.5% adsorbed water increased with decreasing crystallinity of cefditoren pivoxil, suggesting that hygroscopicity of cefditoren pivoxil was enhanced by grinding. These results indicated that hydrophilic adsorption sites in cefditoren pivoxil increased through the grinding process. The results of infrared (IR) spectra examination suggested that the increment of hydrophilic adsorption sites through the grinding process resulted from the change of the environment of the carbonyl groups in two esters and amide.  相似文献

The operational mechanism of the charge modulation device (CMD) as an image sensor is presented. A newly developed device simulator, the transistor analysis program for imagers calculating non-steady-state equations (TRINE) is used in this analysis. Comparison of the calculated results with measured data shows that the model predictions are consistent with measured electrical and optical characteristics within a range of 20%. The operational mechanism has been clarified, and the accuracy of the method proves that it is effective in quantitative device design. The discretization scheme of the cylindrical coordinate system used is also shown  相似文献

Self-assembly of nano-sized arrays by casting a dilute solution of a guest material on the friction-transferred poly(tetrafluoroethylene) (FT-PTFE) substrate was newly discovered. Long axis of the rod-like structures forming the arrays is aligned perpendicular to the chain direction of FT-PTFE, and accordingly, the arrays are highly anisotropic. This phenomenon was observed for aqueous or organic solutions of polymers or organic materials. Each rod-like structure forming the arrays is composed of small grains. The arrays in question are formed regardless to the crystallinity of the guest materials. The formation mechanism of the nano-sized arrays is still unclear. However, we guess that they are formed as a result of microscopic flow pattern at the edge of the solution film. The arrays in question may be a new type of dissipative structure.  相似文献

A dynamic optical neurochip with variable synaptic interconnection capability has been reported. A novel type of photodetector called a variable sensitivity photodetector has been developed for the synaptic interconnection of neural networks. It utilizes a metal-semiconductor-metal structure whose quantum efficiency can be modulated by an applied bias voltage. The fabricated dynamic optical neurochip consists of an 8×8 variable sensitivity photodetector (VSPD) array and an 8 line-shaped LED array. It is shown that this device is suitable for learning in neural networks. The application to pattern classification is demonstrated  相似文献

Surface activity of aqueous solutions of cellulose acetate (CA) with total degree of substitution (〈F〉) ranging from 0.58 to 0.80 was examined. Critical micelle concentration (CMC) of the aqueous CA solutions, determined from the polymer concentration dependence of surface tension (γ), is unequivocally determined by 〈F〉, and an increase in 〈F〉 of CA brings about a lowering of the CMC. From light scattering measurements on aqueous solutions of CA with 〈F〉 = 0.8 at 20°C, it was revealed that in the vicinity of the CMC the micelles in the solution consist of c. four CA molecules, which is very close to the value obtained by analysing the data obtained from the mass action model. The surface tension of aqueous solutions of CA (〈F〉 = 0.8) in the polymer concentration range above the CMC was c. 0.74 times that of pure water over the temperature range 0–80°C.  相似文献

Given the multiple impairments in host defense that occur during HIV infection, patients with AIDS are at risk for a variety of pleural infections and neoplasms. Of infectious causes, bacterial parapneumonic effusions and empyemas and tuberculous pleurisy occur more frequently than effusions caused by P. carinii. In each case, therapy is directed at eradication of the causative organisms. In the setting of systemic Kaposi's sarcoma, pleural involvement is common, although diagnosis is difficult and therapeutic options are limited. Pleural effusions caused by non-Hodgkin's lymphoma often occur in the setting of pulmonary parenchymal disease and can be diagnosed cytologically. The recently described entity of primary effusion lymphoma occurs in the absence of solid-organ involvement. The development of a spontaneous pneumothorax in a HIV-infected individual should prompt a search for P. carinii infection. Although these pneumothoraces often recur and are difficult to manage, recent series suggest that surgical approaches to bronchopleural fistulas are reasonable in selected patients.  相似文献
