The problem of operating freeze drying of pharmaceutical products in vials placed in trays of a freeze dryer to remove free water (in frozen state) at a minimum time was formulated as an optimal control problem. Two different types of freeze dryer designs were considered. In type I freeze dryer design, upper and lower plate temperatures were controlled together, while in type II freeze dryer design, upper and lower plate temperatures were controlled independently. The heat input to the material being dried and the drying chamber pressure were considered as control variables. Constraints were placed on the system state variables by the melting and scorch temperatures during primary drying stage. Necessary conditions of optimality for the primary drying stage of freeze drying process in vials are derived and presented. Furthermore, an approach for constructing the optimal control policies that would minimize the drying time for the primary drying stage was given. In order to analyze optimal control policy for the primary drying stage of the freeze-drying process in vials, a rigorous multi-dimensional unsteady state mathematical model was used. The theoretical approach presented in this work was applied in the freeze drying of skim milk. Significant reductions in the drying times of primary drying stage of freeze drying process in vials were obtained, as compared to the drying times obtained from conventional operational policies. 相似文献

Chemical Composition and Microstructure of Polymer‐Derived Glasses and Ceramics in the Si–C–O System. Part 2: Characterization of microstructure formation by means of high‐resolution transmission electron microscopy and selected area diffraction Liquid or solid silicone resins represent the economically most interesting class of organic precursors for the pyrolytic production of glass and ceramics materials on silicon basis. As dense, dimensionally stable components can be cost‐effectively achieved by admixing reactive filler powders, chemical composition and microstructure development of the polymer‐derived residues must be exactly known during thermal decomposition. Thus, in the present work, glasses and ceramics produced by pyrolysis of the model precursor polymethylsiloxane at temperatures from 525 to 1550 °C are investigated. In part 1, by means of analytical electron microscopy, the bonding state of silicon was determined on a nanometre scale and the phase separation of the metastable Si–C–O matrix into SiO2, C and SiC was proved. The in‐situ crystallization could be considerably accelerated by adding fine‐grained powder of inert fillers, such as Al2O3 or SiC, which permits effective process control. In part 2, the microstructure is characterized by high‐resolution transmission electron microscopy and selected area diffraction. Turbostratic carbon and cubic β‐SiC precipitate as crystallization products. Theses phases are embedded in an amorphous matrix. Inert fillers reduce the crystallization temperature by several hundred °C. In this case, the polymer‐derived Si–C–O material acts as a binding agent between the powder particles. Reaction layer formation does not occur. On the investigated pyrolysis conditions, no crystallization of SiO2 was observed. 相似文献

Temperature control offers benefits in land‐based marine aquaculture: stock growth rates may be enhanced by heating in winter; mortality rates in summer may be reduced by cooling. However, if the plant is not well designed, temperature control may create very large energy demands. This paper describes the application of temperature control in abalone aquaculture in New Zealand, with a focus on energy considerations in plant design. An abalone farm using a semi‐closed water conditioning system is used as a case study for which an energy model, based on a heat pump system, is developed. This paper considers the adaptive pole‐placement control problem for system (1) with unmodelled dynamics ηn dominated by a small constant ε multiplied by a quantity independent of ε but tending to infinity as the past input, output, and noise grow. Using bounded external excitation and randomly varying truncation techniques, we give a design method of adaptive pole‐placement controller. It is shown that the closed‐loop system is globally stable, the estimation error for the parameter contained in the modelled part is of order ε, and the closed‐loop system under the adaptive pole‐placement control law is suboptimal in the sense of $$\mathop{\lim\sup}\limits_{{n\to\infty }}{1\over n}\mathop{\sum}\limits_{i=0}^n{\left({A^{*}(z)y_{n}‐L(z)C(z)w_{n}‐B(z)R(z)y_{n}^{*}}\right)^{2}{\leq}O({\varepsilon}^{2})+\gamma^{2}\mathop{\sum}\limits_{j=1}^q{b_{j}^{2}}}$$\nopagenumbers\end while the SPR condition used usually in other papers is replaced by a stability condition. Good methods are needed to specify, test, and debug material-handling control logic. This article surveys a number of representative methods for defining and describing control algorithms for programmable material-handling equipment used in flexible manufacturing systems. The methods are evaluated with regard to their suitability for communication between people and as bases for interfaces to automatic program generators. It is concluded that no single method is entirely satisfactory. Three methods (position diagrams, function block diagrams, and operation networks) have potential to be combined into an effective hybrid approach that minimizes the need for the user to switch between various conceptual models. 相似文献

已建成的兰州重离子加速器的真空室是一个大型整体结构的超高真空容器,直径约10m,高4.5m,重65000kg,内表面积211m~2,容积100m~3,工作真空度为5×10~(-5)Pa。采用有限单元法在计算机上用SAP-5C程序对真空室受力分析进行了计算。真空室结构材料选用瑞典Uddeholm钢厂生产的316 L 超低碳不锈钢。承制此大型容器的是航天工业部风华机器厂。由于结构庞大,首先将真空室分成八大块和几小块在工厂制造,然后运至现场焊制成一整体容器并进行机械加工。所有密封焊缝均用着色渗透液,X-射线探伤和氦质谱探漏仪进行检查和探漏。 相似文献

Most of the existing switching control techniques are developed specifically for finite-dimensional linear time-invariant (LTI) systems. In many practical applications, however, it is essential to take time delay into consideration in the modelling as the control system can be highly sensitive to delay. In this paper, a multi-model switching control algorithm is proposed for retarded time-delay systems. It is assumed that the plant is represented by a family of known multi-input multi-output, observable, LTI models with multiple delays in the states, and that corresponding to each model in the known family, there exists a high-performance finite-dimensional LTI controller. In addition, it is supposed that a bound on the magnitude of the external inputs and disturbances is available. It is then shown that the proposed switching controller can stabilize the uncertain system, and that under some mild conditions, output tracking can be achieved in the given problem setting. He and Grigoryan (Quality and Reliability Engineering International 2002; 18 :343–355) formulated the design of a double‐sampling (DS) s control chart as an optimization problem and solved it with a genetic algorithm. They concluded that the DS s control charts can be a more economically preferable alternative in detecting small shifts than traditional s control charts. In this paper we pursue a twofold aim. First we want to simplify the complexity of the classical Monopoli's scheme, the so-called ‘Augmented error signal control scheme’. Then we also wish to cope with the realistic situation in which the presence of unmodelled dynamics has to be taken into account. This latter problem has been faced in the literature by suitably modifying the adaptation mechanism in order to avoid undesired phenomena as well as to obtain an attractive stability region for the state trajectories starting from any point in a predefined initial condition set. In our case the necessity of introducing any sort of modification in the adaptation mechanism is completely avoided, but we still obtain asymptotic stability of the output error signal. 相似文献
