Although Berman and Hafner [Berman 1989, pp. 928–938] presented the possibility to adapt the model of reasoning of development of an expert system for medical diagnosis to the reasoning of a judge when he/she sentences criminals does not resemble the reasoning found in the decisions of physicians, mathematicians or statisticians.When a lawyer reasons, he/she not only looks for the solution of a case; he/she simultaneously looks for the bases on which his/her reasoning can rest [Galindo 1992, pp. 363–367]. That is to say, he/she not only needs to find the solution but moreover he/she has to find the references (laws, jurisprudence and bibliography) that allow him/her to argue the solution.In many cases, computer solutions to these reasoning processes have been made in a separated way: the solution to the cases using expert systems, and the search of documentation using information retrieval systems.This paper presents the ARPO-2 prototype, a solution integrating the two aspects of legal reasoning: an expert system which is able to simultaneously find the solution to a problem and to give the necessary references so that the lawyer argues the solution. The subject on which the prototype solves problems is the breach of building contracts.In this paper, we describe the process of development of an expert system for solving, justification and documentation of breach of contracts, giving details on the way how the objects that intervene in the case were defined as well as on the reasoning followed.This paper was funded in part by DGICYT, Spanish Civil Law Computerization Project: PB870-632.  相似文献

Association redefinition is a UML construct that permits us to define an association end more specifically in a particular context. Concretely, it allows specifying some additional participation and cardinality constraints on the association. Association refinements, which have been studied and used by many authors in conceptual modelling languages prior to UML, are closely related to association redefinitions. They also permit to refine the ends of an association adding participation and cardinality constraints. In this paper, we analyze and compare the semantics of both concepts and propose to extend the semantics of association redefinitions in UML to cover all the constraints that may be expressed by association refinements in other conceptual modelling languages. Additionally, we present how to integrate previous results on validation of association refinements to UML and how to generate code for a relational technology platform. Finally, we provide a prototype tool to verify the feasibility of the approach.  相似文献

Changes in major pigment constituents of frozen kiwi-fruit slices during prolonged storage at –18° C and correlation with colour measurements (Hunter Lab parameters) were studied. Kiwi-fruit cultivars (Hayward, Bruno, Monty and Abbot) were processed without previous treatment and vacuum packed after freezing. HPLC using a diode array detector was used to individually quantify and identify the three major pigment components (xanthophylls, chlorophylls and derivatives and-carotene). The colour of fresh and frozen slices by Hunter Color values were correlated with each class of pigment compounds. An apparent first order degradation rate was found for total chlorophylls and xanthophylls. Hayward and Bruno were more suitable for prolonged freezing preservation in terms of colour deterioration.
Haltbarkeit von Pigment und Farbe gefrorener Kiwifrucht-Scheiben während langer Lagerung
Zusammenfassung Es wurden die Veränderungen der meisten Pigmentbestandteile gefrorener Kiwifrucht-Scheiben während langer Lagerzeit bei –18°C und die Korrelation mit Farbmessungen studiert. Kiwifrüchte der Sorten Hayward, Bruno, Monty und Abbot wurden ohne vorherige Behandlung unter Vakuum direkt nach dem Gefrierprozeß verpackt. Mit HPLC wurde quantitativ gemessen und die drei Pigmentbestandteile Xanthophyll, Chlorophyll und-Carotin identifiziert. Die Farbe der frischen, gefrorenen Scheiben (Hunter-Farb-Werte) korrelierte mit jedem der Pigmentbestandteile. Ein Verlust, scheinbar erster Ordnung, wurde für Chlorophyll und Xantophyll bei den Sorten Hayward und Bruno beobachtet, jedoch sind sie für das Gefrieren bei langer Lagerzeit trotz Farbverlust geeignet.

Summary The amount of connective tissue and its main protein, collagen, were related to connective tissue shear strength, in order to furnish data on the distribution and physiochemical characteristics of connective tissue in hake and trout. Collagen solubility and the proportions of the a,, and components were also determined, in order to ascertain the degree of aggregation in the muscle collagen and to explain the above relationships. Connective tissue distribution along the length of the fillets was more uneven in the hake than in the trout, with higher levels in the tail. The degree of collagen aggregation was similar in the connective tissue taken from different locations in the hake fillets. However, in the trout fillets, aggregation was higher in the connective tissue taken from near the tail. As a consequence, the amount of connective tissue was significantly correlated to shear strength in the hake but not in the trout.
Verteilung und Härte des Bindegewebes im Muskel von Seehecht (Merluccius merluccius L.) und Forelle (Salmo irideus Gibb)
Zusammenfassung Die Menge des Bindegewebes und seiner Hauptproteine wurden auf dessen Schnittfestigkeit bezogen, um aus dieser Beziehung und den physikochemischen Daten bei Hecht und Forelle Schlüsse ziehen zu können. Weiterhin wird die Löslichkeit des Kollagens und das Verhältnis der-, - und-Komponenten bestimmt, um den Aggregationsgrad des Muskelkollagens zu ermitteln und auf diese Weise die oben erwähnten Zusammenhänge erklären zu können. Es wird festgestellt, daß das Bindegewebe über die Länge des Seehechtfilets unregelmäßiger verteilt ist als bei der Forelle, wobei ein höherer Anteil im Schwanz beobachtet wird. Der Grad der Kollagenaggregation ist im Bindegewebe an verschiedenen Stellen des Seehechtfilets gleich, jedoch nicht bei der Forelle, wo das näher am Schwanz liegende Gewebe einen höheren Aggregationsgrad aufweist. Das führt dazu, daß beim Seehecht eine signifikante Beziehung zwischen der Bindegewebsmenge und der Schnittfestigkeit besteht, bei der Forelle allerdings nicht.

We have studied the adsorption and electronic properties of thin melanin films on Au(1 1 1) by scanning tunneling microscopy (STM), scanning tunneling spectroscopy (STS), and density functional (DF) calculations. We have found that the minimum melanin unit detected under different adsorption conditions is consistent with the structural model for eumelanin protomolecules based on tetramer macrocycles formed by four monomer units (hydroquinone, indolequinone and its tautomers) with an inner porphyrin ring. DF calculations reveal that the entire π structure of the tetramers is implied in the chemisorption process through its frontier orbitals (HOMO and LUMO), a fact that is reflected in the change of intramolecular bonds. Also van der Waals interactions give an important contribution to the adsorption energy (≈0.02 eV/Å2). Dried thin melanin films (1 monolayer in thickness) exhibit good electronic conductance due to the presence of localized states near the Fermi level while dried thicker films exhibit a semiconductor-like behavior. Illumination of the thicker films with white light results in significant photo-induced tunneling currents when the melanin-covered Au is made negative with respect to the tip.  相似文献

Antimicrobial food packaging film based on the release of LAE from EVOH   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
The aim of this work was to develop antimicrobial films for active packaging applications containing the natural antimicrobial compound LAE (lauramide arginine ethyl ester) in EVOH copolymers with different mol % ethylene contents (i.e. EVOH-29 and EVOH-44). EVOH-29 and EVOH-44 films were made by casting and incorporating 0.25%, 1%, 5%, and 10% LAE in the film forming solution (w/w with respect to polymer weight). Previously, the minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) and the minimum bactericidal concentration (MBC) of LAE against Listeria monocytogenes, Escherichia coli, and Salmonella enterica were determined by a microdilution assay. The antimicrobial activity of the resulting films was tested in vitro against these microorganisms in liquid culture media. The activity of the films was also evaluated over time. The results showed that films containing 5% and 10% LAE produced total growth inhibition and viable counts decreased with 0.25% and 1% LAE. Finally, the effectiveness of the films was tested by applying them to an infant formula milk inoculated with L. monocytogenes and S. enterica and stored for 6 days at 4°C. The application of films with LAE to infant formula milk inoculated with L. monocytogenes reduced at the end of storage period about 4 log in case of 10% LAE and with S. enterica reduced 3.74 log and 3.95 log with EVOH 29 5% and 10%, respectively, and EVOH-44 5% and 10% LAE reduced 1 log and 3.27 log, respectively, at the end of storage. The antimicrobial capacity of EVOH-29 films was greater than that of EVOH-44 films in all the cases tested. In general, the films were more effective in inhibiting the growth of L. monocytogenes than S. enterica, this inhibition being more acute at the end of the storage time.  相似文献

The effect of the broad spectrum cyclic antimicrobial peptide enterocin AS-48 combination with high-intensity pulsed-electric field (HIPEF) treatment (35 kV/cm, 150 Hz, 4 micros and bipolar mode) was tested on Salmonella enterica CECT 915 in apple juice. A response surface methodology was applied to study the bactericidal effects of the combined treatment. The process variables were AS-48 concentration, temperature, and HIPEF treatment time. While treatment with enterocin AS-48 alone up to 60 microg/ml had no effect on the viability of S. enterica in apple juice, an increased bactericidal activity was observed in combination with HIPEF treatments. Survival fraction was affected by treatment time, enterocin AS48 concentration and treatment temperature. The combination of 100 micros of HIPEF treatment, 30 microg/ml of AS-48, and temperature of 20 degrees C resulted in the lowest inactivation, with only a 1.2-log reduction. The maximum inactivation of 4.5-log cycles was achieved with HIPEF treatment for 1000 micros in combination with 60 microg/ml of AS-48 and a treatment temperature of 40 degrees C. Synergism between enterocin AS-48 and HIPEF treatment depended on the sequence order application, since it was observed only when HIPEF was applied in the presence of previously-added bacteriocin. The combined treatment could improve the safety of freshly-made apple juice against S. enterica transmission.  相似文献

Non‐digestible carbohydrate fraction (NDCF) consists of a range of bioactive compounds that escape digestion in the small intestine. NDCF is mainly composed of dietary fibre (DF) and non‐digestible oligosaccharides (NDO). The objective of this work was to analyse directly and compare the NDCF in two Brazilian cultivars of soybean seed with commercial flour. Brazil is the second major soybean producer in the world. The seed cultivars showed on average a NDCF value of 32.80 g per 100 g dry weight (dw). Regarding DF, insoluble DF (IDF) was the main fraction amounting on average to 98%. Uronic acids were significantly higher than neutral sugar (NS) in IDF and soluble DF (SDF) fractions. There was a considerable amount of Klason lignin – on average 84.14% of DF. Regarding NS profile, mannose was the most important sugar in SDF, whereas galactose and arabinose were predominant in IDF. Stachyose was the main oligosaccharide in NDO. DF and NDO were in the same proportion (94.2:5.8) in tested cultivars. No differences in swelling, water retention, or oil retention capacities between seed cultivars were detected. This study on non‐digestible carbohydrate components in soybean seed gives a different approach to the current nutritional knowledge on protein and oil constituents.  相似文献

Summary Analytical results are given for whey powders prepared on a commercial or semi-commercial scale by three companies. Altogether, five preparations enriched in β-lactoglobulin, four whey protein isolates and a fraction enriched in α-lactalbumin were analyzed for protein composition, including %β-lactoglobulin, α-lactalbumin, bovine serum albumin, casein (glyco) macropeptide and the main triglycerides. Protein composition was determined by high pressure gel permeation and reversed phase liquid chromatography and by capillary zone electrophoresis. The extent of modification of the native β-lactoglobulin structure was also measured through the degree of lactosylation and the fraction of accessible free sulphydryl groups. One significant finding was that the calculated recovery of protein following quantitation of the chromatogram or electropherogram was seldom above 90% and occasionally below 60% of that loaded onto the column or capillary, raising doubts as to the reliability of the analytical results. Extrapolation by linear regression to 100% recovery allowed estimates to be made of the true β-lactoglobulin composition of the samples. The nine samples could be placed into three distinct groups with estimated true β-lactoglobulin weight % of 70.9 ± 1.1, 62.0 ± 3.4 and 39.5 ± 4.9.
