A tuning range of 48 nm has been achieved with a tuning current of only 40 mA in a 1.55 mu m InGaAsP/InP multiquantum-well laser based on a grating-assisted vertical coupler intracavity filter. Using a combination of current and voltage tuning a 55 nm tuning range was demonstrated.<>  相似文献

报道了一种波长可热调谐的电吸收调制分布反馈激光器(Electroabsorptionmodulateddistributedfeedbacklaser,EML)。在激光器条形的侧面淀积一薄膜加热器,EML实现了 2 2nm的连续调谐。在调谐范围内,激光器输出功率的变化小于 3dB。采用端面有效反射率方法和耦合波理论的计算表明:采用相调制方法,可实现调谐范围达3 2nm的EML。如果热调谐与相调谐方法结合,可在较宽范围内实现波长快速调谐的EML  相似文献

The tuning characteristics of ridge waveguide DBR lasers have been measured under CW and pulsed grating currents. Under CW grating current injection, a maximum tuning range of 2.5 nm was measured. This tuning range was extended to almost 7 nm under pulsed conditions. The increase in the tuning range is explained by the absence of thermal tuning mechanisms for pulsed grating currents and the dominance of thermal tuning in the ridge waveguide structure at large CW grating currents is explicitly shown.<>  相似文献

A broad range tuning of over 100 nm in tunable DBR lasers with superstructure grating (SSG) is reported. The SSG reflectors for 100 nm were designed and patterned by electron beam lithography. 1.55 mu m DBR lasers with SSG reflector operate in a single mode with a tuning range of 83 nm under CW conditions. With inclusion of the multimode operating region, the tuning range becomes as wide as 103 nm.<>  相似文献

A novel wavelength-tunable distributed amplification distributed feedback laser diode (TDA-DFB-LD) is proposed and fabricated. The proposed structure provides synchronous change between the longitudinal mode and the Bragg wavelength in tuning; thereby continuous wavelength tuning can be realized with single control-current. Moreover, extended tuning is also possible with two control-currents. A continuous tuning range of 2.9 nm and an extended discrete tuning range of 15 nm are experimentally obtained with a 1.55-μm TDA-DFB-LD  相似文献

We describe frequency tuning and channel access characteristics of the new, widely-tunable, multi-quantum-well three-branch Y3-lasers. The Y3-lasers are tuned discretely with two independent current controls: coarse tuning (5.5 nm, 680 GHz tuning steps) selects the desired optical frequency range, fine tuning selects the desired frequency channel (0.4 nm, 50 GHz channel spacing). For example, we demonstrate access to 50 channels over the ~31 nm free spectral range of the Y3-laser; 36 contiguous channels are accessed using three independent current controls. The coarse/fine “digital” tuning makes Y3-lasers very useful for wavelength-division-multiplexed (WDM) multi-channel optical communication systems  相似文献

A novel broadband tunable laser diode is presented. It is based on a codirectional coupling scheme which is predicted to yield tuning ranges larger than 50 nm. A thin-active layer was inserted into the tuning regions of a wavelength-tunable three-electrode DBR (distributed Bragg reflector) laser. The gain of the thin-active layer compensates for the loss in adjacent passive guide layers, and improved the optical output power and spectral linewidth in tuning operations. A vertical grating assisted codirectional coupler laser with a super structure grating distributed Bragg reflector is demonstrated. A record stepwise tuning range of 114 nm was measured with good side-mode suppression. A tunable erbium-doped fiber laser with a very wide continuous-tuning range (1522-1567 nm) is discussed. The wide tuning range was achieved using an aluminum/erbium-doped fiber; the aluminum codoping is known to broaden the gain spectrum substantially. The tunable fiber laser has a ring laser configuration utilizing an inline tunable etalon as the tuning element. Continuous tuning over 45 nm in the spectral range of 1522-1567 nm was achieved with 80 nW of pumping at 532 nm, using the second harmonic of a Nd:YAG laser as the pump source  相似文献

Device and tuning characteristics of sampled grating tunable twin-guide laser diodes are presented. The vertically integrated, monolithic widely tunable laser requires only two tuning currents to fully cover a wavelength range of more than 40 nm by electrooptic tuning. Its tuning behavior is quasi-continuous with up to 8.2-nm broad continuous tuning regions. High sidemode suppression (SMSR /spl ges/ 35 dB) as well as large output power (P /spl ges/ 10 mW) are obtained over the wavelength range from 1520.5 to 1561.5 nm.  相似文献

报道了对光纤光栅进行金属化 ,利用金属层的电热效应对光纤光栅进行温度调谐的方法。这种调谐方法具有结构简单、使用方便、体积小、调谐速度快、易于与电子线路集成等优点。当调谐电流从 0mA增加到 180mA时 ,光纤光栅的布拉格波长从 15 5 3 14nm增加到了 15 5 5 4 8nm ,移动了 2 34nm。调谐上升时间约为 2 0ms。对实验结果作了分析讨论  相似文献

A GaAs-based micro-opto-electro-mechanical-systems(MOEMS) tunable resonant cavity enhanced(RCE) photodetector with a continuous tuning range of 31nm under a 6V tuning voltage is demonstrated.The single cantilever beam structure is adopted for this MOEMS tunable RCE photodetector.The maximum and minimum peak quantum efficiency during the tuning are 36.9% and 30.8%,respectively.The maximum and minimum full-widthathalf-maximum (FWHM) are 20nm and 14nm,respectively.The dark current density is 7.46A/m2 without bias.  相似文献

Edge-emitting coupled-cavity semiconductor lasers employing a deeply etched Bragg reflector at one facet have been realized. The sidemode suppression ratio (SMSR) and wavelength tuning were investigated as a function of low level current injection. A single-mode tuning range of 3 nm centered around 977 nm displaying an SMSR better than 20 dB was obtained for tuning currents in the milliampere range.  相似文献

Wavelength tuning in distributed-feedback (DFB) lasers using quantum-well intermixing is analyzed. A 0.42-nm tuning range is obtained when the bandgap is blue-shifted by 5.9 nm, and this value agrees well with the experimental value of 0.36 nm. The limitation of the tuning range is also discussed, and is because of the increase in carrier density that raises the gain above the threshold after intermixing. The dependence of wavelength shift on bandgap blueshift is not affected by the details of the intermixing process. A maximum tuning range of 3.5 nm is predicted, demonstrating that after device fabrication intermixing process can be used to adjust DFB lasers operating wavelengths to match the predefined wavelength channels of wavelength-division-multiplexing system  相似文献

We demonstrate a tunable thulium-doped fiber ring laser wherein a single fused coupler acts simultaneously as the wavelength-division multiplexing for pump radiation, a lasing wavelength selective element, and output mirror. 研制了一种小型化宽调谐光纤型DFG/QPM中红外光源。该光源的基频光采用分段调谐的方案,以3个不同工作波段的YDFL作为泵浦源,3个不同工作波段的EDFL作为信号源,并通过光开关实现各波段间的快速切换。研制了DFG中红外光源样机,其尺寸为440×290×500mm3,测试结果表明,泵浦/信号光可在1050~1110nm和1535~1600nm范围内宽带连续调谐,经差频过程最终中红外激光实现3054.5~4009.1nm波段内宽带无缝调谐。  相似文献

We demonstrate a silica-based tunable fiber Bragg grating filter with a wavelength tuning range over 90 nm. A bend-tuning technique in a simple tuning package is employed to obtain a wide wavelength tuning range from 1634 to 1544 nm, covering the entire L-band and a half of the C-band. The polarization-mode dispersion and polarization-dependent loss of the device show little variations over the whole operating region.  相似文献

对分布布拉格反射(DBR)的透射特性进行了分析,制作了一个单频窄线宽掺镱光纤DBR激光器.在977 nm半导体激光器泵浦下,在1052.5 nm波长处输出功率可达4 mW,线宽小于8 MHz(受测量仪器分辨率限制).采用弧形梁调谐光纤光栅,实现了DBR光纤激光器在单纵模工作状态下的连续调谐,调谐范围可达20.4 nm(1036.1~1056.5 nm),并研究了调谐对激光器的泵浦阈值和斜率效率的影响.  相似文献
