Large Area Flat—screen Liquid Crystal Television（continued 1）

A modular flat-screen liquid crystal television display is described .The picture elements of the modules may be emissive ,reflective or transmissive .The flat-screen liquid crystal television also comprised of an electrical control circuit capable of categorizing incoming television picture signals corresponding to the modules in the array and directing the electrical signals to the drive circuits of each module according to the portion of the television picture to be reproduced by the picture elements of that module.The picture elements are preferably formed in a light modulating film composed of a liquid crystal dispersion in a polymeric binder.A color display was also produced by placing a patterned red-green-blue filter adjacent the active matrix so that each picture element could also be coordinated with the color components of a color video signal.     

Thermosensitive Liquid Crystal Polymer Color Image Display

A color image formation method is presented with thermosensitive liquid crystal polymers .The liquid crystal polymers are capable of reversibly assuming optical states of transparent and scattering lights ,and allow picture-element display areas in two colors at least to be composed on a surface,The picture elements within color areas are selected if they correspond to the color which is the spectral transmission center ,A heat is applied such that the maximum haze degree of the selected picture elements is greater than that of picture elements corresponding to any of the other colrs.

Nonlinear Liquid Crystal Polymer and Its Applications

The transparent solid medium of a thermotropic liquid crystal polymer have a cobm structure of mesogenic side chanis which exhibit a nonlinear optical re-spense of electronic origin.The main chain of the liquid crystal polymers can be selscted from a number of suitable polymerized monomeris and comonomeric structures such as polyvinyl,polysiloxane,polyoxyalkylene,polyester etc.The electropitc light modulator is provided,which have potential to using in the systems of laser modulation and deflec-tion,and information control in optical circuitry etc.     

Nonlinear Liqued Crystal Optical Signal Amplifiers

The principle,structure and system of nonlinear liquid crystal optical sig-nal amplifiers are described.Experimental results are theoretically analysed for optical signal amplifers.It shows that this type of the optical signal amplifiers are comprised of liquid crystal light sensitive medium which can receive a modulated signal optic wave and a pump wave,and can be applied to optical transmission systems.     

Ferroelectric Liquid Crystal Optical Switches

The dynamic response of molecular orientation, and the temperature and pulse shape dependences of the switching behavior in ferroelectric liquid crystal are described.The switching speed and the surface energy of ferroelectric liquid crystal are given.     

Propagation characteristics of six-core photonic liquid crystal fibers

We demonstrate a new kind of multi-core photonic liquid crystal fibers (PLCFs) which have six liquid crystal cores arrayed in the ring-type geometry and separated by the air holes. Through analyzing the structure of this kind of PLCFs, it can be found that they have the ability to resist the structure deformation. Due to the effective index of the liquid crystal can be adjusted by temperature and wavelength, the energy in the six liquid crystal cores is increased with the temperature increasing and wavelength decreasing. The effective index of the PLCFs is decreased, the effective fundamental mode area is increased and the dispersion properties are gently affected with the wavelength increasing and temperature decreasing.     

Optical Waveguide Property of Nd—doped Laser Materials NdxY1—xAl3（BO3）4 and Nd：MgO：LiNbO3

Lanthanide has attracted much attention in the field of optical communications in recent years.Some property analyses on optical waveguide of Nd-doped crystal NdxY1-x Al3( BO3)4 and Nd:MgO:LiNbO3 are made in this paper,followed by introduction of the methods of experimentation and theoretical calculation for the planar optical waveguides.The refractive index profiles of the optical waveguides are analyzed.The above work offers useful information for study on new type materials for optical communications.
