Powerful information networks comprising computers and communication equipment are a modern fact of life. Our dependence upon them requires that they function with no problems. System safety is crucial. Uninterruptible power supply (UPS) systems are commonly equipped to supply stable power regarding critical loads, e.g., large computer centers, telephone and telecommunication centers, aviation control systems, etc. Several types of UPS systems are now used in many of these important fields. However, there has been to date little numerical evaluation vis-a-vis system reliability. This paper evaluates mean time between failures (MTBF) of parallel redundant UPS systems, and reports that the MTBF of two sets of parallel redundant UPS systems is lower than that of 3 sets of parallel redundant UPS systems under some circumstances. Continuous power supply reliability of the UPS system with bypass and uninterruptible transfer switch is much higher than is the case for other UPS systems lacking bypass circuit and uninterruptible transfer switch. Highly reliable parallel operation technology is also shown. 相似文献

This paper presents a three-phase line-interactive uninterruptible power supply (UPS) system with series-parallel active power-line conditioning capabilities, using a synchronous-reference-frame (SRF)-based controller, which allows an effective power-factor correction, load harmonic current suppression, and output voltage regulation. The three-phase UPS system is composed of two active power filter topologies. The first one is a series active power filter, which works as a sinusoidal current source in phase with the input voltage. The other is a parallel active power filter, which works as a sinusoidal voltage source in phase with the input voltage, providing to the load a regulated and sinusoidal voltage with low total harmonic distortion. Operation of a three-phase phase-locked loop structure, used in the proposed line-interactive UPS implementation, is presented and experimentally verified under distorted utility conditions. The control algorithm using the SRF method and the active power flow through the UPS system are described and analytically studied. Design procedures, digital simulations, and experimental results for a prototype are presented to verify the good performance of the proposed three-phase line-interactive UPS system. 相似文献

This paper proposes a hybrid discontinuous control methodology for a voltage source converter (VSC), which is used in an uninterrupted power supply (UPS) application. The UPS controls the voltage at the point of common coupling (PCC). An LC filter is connected at the output of the VSC to bypass switching harmonics. With the help of both filter inductor current and filter capacitor voltage control, the voltage across the filter capacitor is controlled. Based on the voltage error, the control is switched between current and voltage control modes. In this scheme, an extra diode state is used that makes the VSC output current discontinuous. This diode state reduces the switching losses. The UPS controls the active power it supplies to a three-phase, four-wire distribution system. This gives a full flexibility to the grid to buy power from the UPS system depending on its cost and load requirement at any given time. The scheme is validated through simulation using PSCAD. 相似文献
