Many individuals are not only food insecure but chronically exposed to high levels of mycotoxins through their diets in many developing countries. Seventy composite samples of stored maize grains were collected from farmers’ storage structures in five agro-ecological zones (AEZs) of Nigeria where maize is predominantly produced between August 2011 and February 2012. The grains were analysed for mycotoxin contamination with the liquid chromatography tandem mass spectrometry method and mycotoxin occurrence maps constructed from the database of the distribution of the toxins. A risk assessment was also carried out in order to provide information on the extent of human exposure to the toxins. Twelve regulated mycotoxins with negative economic and public health consequences were detected in the maize grains across the AEZs at concentrations exceeding the maximum allowable limits including AFM1 that was detected for the first time in Nigerian maize. There is a high risk of contamination of the stored grains by Nigerian consumers especially in the Derived and Southern Guinea Savannas, resulting in a national burden of between 126.85 and 38,682.29 DALYs. Intervention strategies are therefore needed across the AEZs to ensure that safe and wholesome foods are made available to the populace.  相似文献

In this study, chlorpyrifos residue levels in field crops of rice, maize and soybean were investigated according to the “Guideline on Pesticide Residue Trials” of China. On the basis of the residual results, human dietary risks were further evaluated. Chlorpyrifos residues of harvest grains were firstly prepared by QuEChERS method and analyzed using Gas Chromatography Tandem Mass Spectrometry (GC–MS/MS). Dietary risks were assessed by a deterministic approach. The median residues in field trials of rice, maize and soybean were 0.617, 0.0227 and 0.0136 mg kg−1, respectively. The highest residues in field trials of rice, maize and soybean were 3.23, 0.114 and 0.102 mg kg−1, respectively. Chronic intake assessment indicated that only 39.0% of acceptable daily intake (ADI, 0–0.01 mg kg bw−1 day−1) was consumed through rice, maize and soybean. The acute hazard indexes (aHI) of adults was 26.1% of acute reference dose (ARfD, 0–0.1 mg kg bw−1) and aHI of children was 63.5% of ARfD in dietary exposure assessment through rice, maize and soybean consumption. Single pathway risk assessment indicated that chlorpyrifos application on field crops in manner of the good agricultural practices didn't pose public health risks.  相似文献

The bacterial quality and safety of raw milk sources in Taif region (Western Saudi Arabia) were analyzed for the natural contamination of fecal coliform and Escherichia coli by standard most probable number method. The E. coli isolates were identified to species identity using API 20E and screened for markers of STEC (Stx1, Stx2), ETEC (ST, LT), (EaeA) and ExPEC (CNF1, CNF2, SfaS, PapA, CdtB, IutA, FyuA, TraT) using PCR assays. Thirty-three E. coli strains were recovered from raw milk sample sources, which were contaminated by fecal coliform. None of the investigated isolates reacted positively with the PapA, SfaS and CdtB, ST and LT-specific primers. Markers of STEC and EPEC were each detected in three strains. NTEC was detected in four strains. The most frequent virulence markers were TraT (17 strains), IutA (11 strains) and FyuA (8 strains). Results suggested a possibility of potential public health threat of E. coli originating from raw milk sources.  相似文献

The online marketplace for food products is continually expanding and all types of food and beverages can now be purchased over the internet. It is primarily the responsibility of the food business operator to ensure compliance with food safety law. However, the competent authorities are tasked with controlling the e-food sector as part of their regulatory duties to protect consumer health and to prevent fraud, regardless of the sales channel being used. For this purpose, a new software prototype concept was developed that automatically identifies and evaluates potentially non-compliant e-food products. The prototype was developed using a modular architecture comprising a research tool, an image analysis tool, and a monitoring tool. User-defined thresholds are applied to assess the reliability of the retrieved data. Results that are not deemed reliable enough can be reworked using a computer-aided evaluation interface. The research tool utilizes both internet search engines and customized search algorithms. A multi-stage filtering process is performed to limit the sites according to defined criteria (e.g. food product merchants only). The data acquisition module stores all matching data from webpages for later analysis and preservation of evidence. In another module, automatic recognition of a site's legal notice (impressum) is carried out for the respective vendor within whose online shop a potentially non-compliant food product is being offered. The image analysis tool performs logo recognition to enrich the text-based information of websites, thus providing additional visual information. The monitoring tool performs regular automated monitoring of e-food vendors, products and ingredients. The proof of principle of the prototype was achieved by conducting a web search for hazardous food products containing synephrine and caffeine. In total, 1242 product offerings on the internet for suspicious food products were identified among the 8683 search results. The software prototype has potential to enhance consumer protection and food safety with respect to e-foods.  相似文献

Surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS) is an emerging technology with great potential for sensitive and rapid analysis of trace methylene blue (MB) in fish muscle. Five different SERS substrates including two commercial nanostructured surface substrates and three types of Au nanoparticles (NPs) with different diameters were compared to optimize enhancement effects. The highest sensitivity with the lowest detection limit of 5 ng/mL for MB standard solutions and 10 ng/g for MB in fish muscles was achieved using the 18 ± 2 nm Au NPs. Partial least squares regression models developed for quantitative analysis showed high linear correlation between the actual and predicted values for MB (R2 cv = 0.958, RPD = 4.84, RMSE = 6.97 ng/g) in fish muscle. Since Au NPs are easy to prepare, stable and affordable, the high sensitivity and predictability of this method has the potential to be widely used for trace analysis of prohibited drug residues in fish and potentially other foods or biological samples.  相似文献

Four chromophores, of different dipole moment and polarizable anisotropy and which comprised conjugation bridges of both benzene and polyene with strong electron-donor and electron-acceptor groups, were characterized using 1H NMR, FT-IR, UV–vis, and electrochemical analyses. The electric dipole moment (μ), polarizability (α) and the first hyperpolarizability (β) values of the chromophores were examined using computational methods. The contribution of orientational birefringence to total birefringence was estimated from the calculated molecular parameters of the chromophores; these parameters are important factors for predicting photorefractive efficiency.  相似文献

In direct adaptive control, the adaptation mechanism attempts to adjust a parameterized nonlinear controller to approximate an ideal controller. In the indirect case, however, we approximate parts of the plant dynamics that are used by a feedback controller to cancel the system nonlinearities. In both cases, “approximators” such as linear mappings, polynomials, fuzzy systems, or neural networks can be used as either the parameterized nonlinear controller or identifier model. In this paper, we present an algorithm to tune the adaptation gain for a gradient-based hybrid update law used for a class of nonlinear continuous-time systems in both direct and indirect cases. In our proposed algorithm, the adaptation gain is obtained by minimizing the instantaneous control energy. Finally, we will demonstrate the performance of the algorithm via a wing rock regulation example.  相似文献

Mycotoxin ochratoxin A (OTA) is considered to be a possible risk factor for adverse effects in humans. In the present study, quantitative assessment of risk associated with dietary intake of OTA was performed based on consumption habits of the representative adult inhabitants in Shanghai city of P. R. China. Firstly, a total of 400 food samples randomly collected from different locations of Shanghai were analyzed by the previously established isotope dilution LC–MS/MS method. Then, 265 participants of 70 males and 195 females as representative inhabitants were invited to answer the designed questionnaire about the quantity and frequency of foods including four major varieties of grapes, cereals, beans and dried fruits as well as their derived products. Finally, all data were simulated by the point evaluation and model evaluation for the risk assessment of OTA contamination. Results from the point evaluation indicated that mean value of daily intake (DI) of OTA was 1.147 ng/kg body weight/day, which was lower than all the reference standards. However, DI value (8.566 ng/kg body weight/day) in the high percentile (97.5th) was obviously higher than the PTDI (5 ng/kg body weight/day) proposed by Scientific Committee on Food. Among the different groups of foods, OTA in cereals and derived products made the largest contribution to the potential healthy risk. The mean DI value and 97.5th percentile were 1.093 and 7.962 ng/kg body weight/day, respectively, indicating that more than 90% of the risk was due to the contamination of OTA in cereals and derived products. On the other hand, similar results were obtained by the Monte Carlo assessment model. Thus, from the currently available data and analyzed results on the adult inhabitants, regarding OTA contamination issues on food safety administration of Shanghai, there was no significant attention which should be paid on food consumption in Shanghai, besides cereals and derived products with very little possibility as the risk factors.  相似文献
