The bulk metallic glass formation in the Cu-Zr-M ternary systems by alloying of a binary basic Cu6Zr5 cluster was inves- tigated, where M stands for Sn, Mo, Ta, Nb, Ag, Al and Ti. The Cu6Zr5 cluster is a capped Archimedean antiprism that characterizes the local structure of the Cu10Zr7 crystalline phase. This cluster composition almost superposes with Cu-Zr eutectic Cu0.56Zr0.44. A se- ries of alloys along the cluster line (Cu6Zr5)1-xMx were examined for their glass forming abilities. Alloy rods with a diameter of 3 mm were prepared by copper mould suction casting method and analyzed by XRD and thermal analysis. The Cu-Zr based bulk metallic glasses were discovered with minor Nb, Sn, Mo, Ta additions (≤2at%) and Al, Ti, Ag (8at%≤concentration≤9at%). Finite Volume Method (FVM) which can solve fluid problems effectively is used in this paper. Gauss theorem is used to transfer volume integration to area integration , by which the relation formula of the nodes around each element is founded based on the constancy of the flux into and out of the element. With that the discrete equations are obtained. This method with free cubic element is applied in 3D seepage and tidal flow problems. A Finite Difference Method with four points weighted implicit scheme and Newton-Raphson iteration method are introduced to complete the flood routing in the tidal river. The problems related to normalization of cross-sectional area and optimization of weighting factor α are discussed and α = 0. 5 - 0. 7 is suggested. With such a α, high accuracy, stable and convergence results and flexible time step will be expected. In this study, the damage-plasticity model for concrete that was verified by the model experiment was used to calculate the damage to a spiral case structure based on the damage mechanics theory. The concrete structure surrounding the spiral case was simulated with a three-dimensional finite element model. Then, the distribution and evolution of the structural damage were studied. Based on investigation of the change of gap openings between the steel liner and concrete structure, the impact of the non-uniform variation of gaps on the load-bearing ratio between the steel liner and concrete structure was analyzed. The comparison of calculated results of the simplified and simulation algorithms shows that the simulation algorithm is a feasible option for the calculation of spiral case structures.
