Electrical discharge machining (EDM) is one of the most accepted machining processes in the precision manufacturing industry. In EDM process, finding an alternative tool material is the demand in modern manufacturing industry. Therefore, an attempt had been made to fabricate copper–titanium diboride powder metallurgy electrode to test in EDM on monel 400? material. The experiments are planned using center composite second-order rotatable design and the model is developed by response surface methodology. The machining characteristics have analyzed using the developed model. In this study, four input parameters such as titanium diboride percentage, pulse current, pulse on time, and flushing pressure are selected to evaluate the material removal rate (MRR) and tool wear rate (TWR). The adequacy of the developed regression model has tested through analysis of variance test. The desirability-based multiobjective optimization is used to find the optimal process parameter which has given maximum MRR and minimum TWR. The optimum process parameters obtained were titanium diboride of 16%, pulse current of 6 A, flushing pressure of 1 Mpa, and pulse on time of 35?µs. The validity of the response surface model is further verified by conducting confirmation experiments. 相似文献

The industries of Japan have developed by learning from Western industries, especially the USA, and by implementing many of their concepts and technologies. However, Japanese industries have often implemented these concepts and technologies in a very different way from the USA. For example, while the USA uses information systems in retail industries as a tool by which data are collected and analysed to control the market, in Japan this same technology is considered rather as a learning device to interpret the market. While in the USA the market is seen as a natural phenomenon capable of being controlled, the Japanese see it as an ambiguous phenomenon that is ever changing and is not capable of being controlled. Rather it is important to feel the change in the market itself.This paper introduces human centredness to the information system, and argues against modern rationalism, i.e. human versus technology, taking the case of use of POS data from the POS system (point of sale: a system that collects data on both the customer and goods sold by scanning bar codes that are attached to the surface of the goods) by the eminent Japanese retailer, Ito-Yokado. A second-order accurate scheme for the Cartesian cut-cell method developed previously by the authors [Ji H, Lien F-S, Yee E. Comput. Methods Appl. Mech. Eng. 198 (2008), 432] is generalized for application to both two- and three-dimensional inviscid compressible flow problems. A cell-merging approach is used to address the so-called “small cell” problem that has plagued Cartesian cut-cell methods. In the present cell-merging approach, the conservative variables are stored at the cut-cell centroid (including the non-merged and merged cut-cells) rather than at the Cartesian cell center. Although this approach results in a more complicated search algorithm for the determination of the neighbor cells (required for the computation of the spatial gradients of the conservative variables), this approach enables the straightforward formulation of a higher than first-order accurate discretization scheme in the vicinity of the (complex and irregular) internal boundaries of the flow domain. Six test cases (including detonation problems) are used to demonstrate the accuracy and capability of the adaptive cut-cell method, for which both mesh refinement and derefinement techniques are employed in the case of an unsteady shock diffraction problem. 相似文献

Substantial characteristics of wireless sensor networks, such as autonomy and miniature size, are achieved at the expense of restricted energy resources. To achieve such awareness, that will enable models development, appropriate measuring test-beds and methodologies are needed, facilitating reliable and accurate power consumption measurements of critical functionalities.To cover the need for energy models that precisely define the power consumption behavior of WSN hardware platforms, this paper contributes with a measuring methodology including three steps: the design and implementation of a measuring system for a wide range of power consumption thresholds, the identification, isolation and measurement of elementary functionalities of a WSN platform with respect to their contribution to the overall mote power consumption, and the extraction of valuable conclusions based on the respective measurements resulting in the composition of a practical, yet accurate power consumption model. 相似文献

A resource investment problem with discounted cash flows (RIPDCF) is a project-scheduling problem in which (a) the availability levels of the resources are considered decision variables and (b) the goal is to find a schedule such that the net present value of the project cash flows optimizes. In this paper, the RIPDCF in which the activities are subject to generalized precedence relations is first modeled. Then, a genetic algorithm (GA) is proposed to solve this model. In addition, design of experiments and response surface methodology are employed to both tune the GA parameters and to evaluate the performance of the proposed method in 240 test problems.
