Various combinations of biaxial stress were applied on five batches of recrystallized zircaloy-2 fuel cladding tubes with different textures; elongation in both axial and circumferential directions of the specimen was measured continuously up to 5% plastic deformation.

The anisotropic theory of plasticity proposed by Hill was applied to the resulting data, and anisotropy constants were obtained through the two media of plastic strain loci and plastic strain ratios. Comparison of the results obtained with the two methods proved that the plastic strain loci provide data that are more effective in predicting quantitatively the plastic deformation behavior of the zircaloy-2 tubes. The anisotropy constants change their value with progress of plastic deformation, and judicious application of the effective stress and effective strain obtained on anisotropic materials will permit the relationship between stress and strain under various biaxialities of stresses to be approximated by the work hardening law.

The test specimens used in the plastic deformation experiments were then stressed to fracture under the same combination of biaxial stress as in the proceeding experiments, and the deformation in the fractured part was measured. The result proved that the tilt angle of the c-axis which serves as the index of texture is related to fracture ductility under biaxial stress. Based on this relationship, it was concluded that material with a tilt angle ranging from 10° to 15° is the most suitable for fuel cladding tubes, from the viewpoint of fracture ductility, at least in the case of unirradiated material.  相似文献

Isotropic and anisotropic shape-memory polymer foams are prepared by supercritical carbon dioxide foaming from a multiblock copolymer (PDLCL) consisting of poly(ω-pentadecalactone) and poly(ε-caprolactone) segments. Analysis by micro-computed tomography reveals for the anisotropic PDLCL foam cells a high shape anisotropy ratio of R = 1.72 ± 0.62 with a corresponding Young's compression moduli ratio between longitudinal and transversal direction of 4.3. The experimental compression data in the linear elastic range can be well described by the anisotropic open foam model of Gibson and Ashby. A micro-morphological analysis for single pores using scanning electron microscopy images permits the correlation between the macroscopic stress-compression behavior and microscale structural changes.  相似文献

The effects of large prestrains (18–40%), produced by in-plane compression, on the asymmetry and the anisotropy of the stress response and on the fatigue life are investigated under fully reversed axial strain for a 345 MPa yield strength V–N high strength low alloy steel sheet. After prestraining, the hysteresis loops are asymmetric and the stress response is anisotropic, i.e., the response differs in directions parallel and perpendicular to that of the compressive prestrain. To understand the cyclic flow stress asymmetry, monotonic tension and compression tests were conducted in these two directions after prestraining. It is shown that the loop asymmetry is related to the Bauschinger effect after prestraining. Two cyclic stress strain curves, one corresponding to the tension side of the hysteresis loops and the other to the compression side, are defined to accurately describe the post-prestraining behavior. The amount of strengthening gained by prestraining is partially retained after cycling. Prestraining increases the fatigue life at low strain amplitudes but decreases it at high strain amplitudes.  相似文献

To realize ultimately efficient signal processing, it is necessary to replace electrical signal processing circuits with optical ones. The optical micro-resonator, which localizes light at a certain spot, is an essential component in optical signal processing. Single-crystal calcium fluoride (CaF2) is the most suitable material for a highly efficient optical micro-resonator. The CaF2 resonator can only be manufactured by ultra-precision machining processes, because its crystal anisotropy does not allow the application of chemical etching. However, the optical micro-resonator's performance depends definitely on the surface integrity.This study investigated the relationship between surface quality after ultra-precision machining and crystal anisotropy. Firstly, crack initiation was investigated on the (1 0 0), (1 1 0), and (1 1 1) planes using the micro-Vickers hardness test. Secondly, brittle-ductile transition was investigated by orthogonal cutting tests. Finally, cutting performance of cylindrical turning was evaluated, which could be a suitable method for manufacturing the CaF2 resonator. The most difficult point in cylindrical turning of CaF2 is that the crystalline plane and cutting direction vary continuously. In order to manufacture the CaF2 optical micro-resonator more efficiently, analysis was conducted on crack initiation and surface quality of all crystallographic orientations from the perspective of slip system and cleavage.  相似文献

使用EBSD和纳米压痕法研究毫米级块状单晶Al3Sc对应的取向、硬度和杨氏模量。试验结果表明,选用过共晶Al-Sc合金加热至液态后缓慢冷却(60 ℃/h)可以得到毫米级单晶Al3Sc,通过EBSD和纳米压痕法得到五个不同取向(567)、(139)、(124)、(113)和(144)单晶Al3Sc的硬度在3.7~4.3 GPa,复合弹性响应模量在143.6~146.1 GPa。对比不同泊松比下各取向的杨氏模量理论值与试验值,发现泊松比为0.188时二者之间差异最小,对应各取向的杨氏模量试验值在157.5~160.6 GPa。  相似文献

The Opalinus Clay formation is currently being investigated as a potential host rock for the deep geological disposal of radioactive waste in Switzerland. Recently, a test tunnel was excavated at the Mont Terri underground rock laboratory (URL) as part of a long-term research project (“Full-scale Emplacement (FE) experiment”) aimed at studying the thermo-hydro-mechanical (THM) effects induced by the presence of an underground repository. The objective of this paper is twofold. Firstly, the results of the rock mass monitoring programme carried out during the construction of the 3 m diameter, 50 m long FE tunnel are presented, with particular focus on the short-term deformation response. The deformation measurements, including geodetic monitoring of tunnel wall displacements, radial extensometers and longitudinal inclinometers, indicate a strong directionality in the excavation response. Secondly, the deformational behaviour observed in the field is analyzed using a hybrid finite-discrete element (FDEM) analysis to obtain further insights into the formation of the excavation damaged zone (EDZ). The FDEM simulation using the Y-Geo code is calibrated based on the average short-term response observed in the field. Deformation and strength anisotropy are captured using a transversely isotropic, linear elastic constitutive law and cohesive elements with orientation-dependent strength parameters. Overall, a good agreement is obtained between convergences measured in the field and numerical results. The simulated EDZ formation process highlights the importance of bedding planes in controlling the failure mechanisms around the underground opening. Specifically, failure initiates due to shearing of bedding planes critically oriented with respect to the compressive circumferential stress induced around the tunnel. Slippage-induced rock mass deconfinement then promotes extensional fracturing in the direction perpendicular to the bedding orientation. The simulated fracture pattern is consistent with previous experimental evidence from the Mont Terri URL.  相似文献

Magnetic anisotropy of magnetic thin films was determined from a series of hysteresis loops measured via a rotatable alternate current (ac) electromagnet, the rotation angle of which could be continuously tuned at 360° with a high resolution.
