In the wake of the information technology (IT) revolution, the paper describes the changing role of universities to promote
IT education in India to generate qualitative and competitive manpower in the face of the mushrooming of private institutions
in the field of IT. The rapid growth of private teaching initiatives reflects inadequacies of the public educational system
to the needs of the emerging IT environment, especially considering the high prices charged by private training. It is pointed
out that the emerging knowledge society and the economy are not going to be based on IT alone, but will depend on the development
of both IT and basic research in domain areas. Any policy on IT education should ensure that basic disciplines are not ignored.
Universities should develop new and innovative programmes for students from different basic disciplines to give training for
high-end jobs. To promote IT education a new innovative concept of earning while learning has recently been introduced. Some
of the initiatives started by Delhi University to modify/improve course programmes for IT education are highlighted, looking

Modern organizations and even nations are increasingly dependent on information systems (IS) security, and their economic prosperity is strongly linked to innovation. Do these two important issues also relate one to another, and how? Can some lessons be learned that are important not only to security professionals but also to organizational and other important systems managing decision makers? Assuming that the answer is yes, how can we deploy innovation techniques to further improve IS security? Because this interdisciplinary area has not been addressed so far, this article presents one of the first attempts to address it on the basis of statistically relevant data on a national and international scale. Past research on the business value of information technologies (IT) has demonstrated the positive contribution of IT capabilities (IT-C) to product innovation performance. However, with the advent of digital technologies, a new kind of product innovations gained importance: digital product and service innovations (DPI). As a consequence of their idiosyncratic characteristics, the usefulness and validity of existing product innovation management concepts cannot be transferred to the context of DPI without further ado. Accordingly, this study reinvestigates the role of IT-C in the specific context of DPI. Therefore, we begin with a differentiation of DPI from traditional, non-digital product innovation. Then, we propose that IT-C affect the performance of DPI projects via two paths. First, based on the notion that DPI rely on the use of innovative IT, we assume that IT-C directly impact DPI performance. Second, following prior research that has argued that the performance contribution of IT-C is mediated by other organizational intermediaries, we assume that IT-C also indirectly contribute to DPI performance through their positive influence on other organizational capabilities. One such organizational capability that mediates the influence of IT-C on DPI performance is a firm’s DPI capabilities (DPI-C). DPI-C allow firms to deploy their digital resources for DPI purposes and, thus, are an important antecedent for DPI performance. To test our assumptions, we use partial least squares–structural equation modeling technique and analyze survey data collected from DPI projects across different industries in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. 相似文献

The bulk of research to date on diffusion of innovations and the user acceptance of computing technology has focused on modelling the factors that lead to a user's decision to adopt and use a technology, instead of how individuals use technology and experience it after adoption. The current paper explores how users rationalise failures in their adopted innovations; their biases in the assessment of competing technologies; and the ultimate influence of these attributions on their interpersonal word of mouth communication with other users. The findings of the research point to the mechanisms of ego enhancement and innovativeness influencing users’ reactions to the failure of their adopted computing technology. Biases regarding competing technologies are, however, influenced by information presented in the mass media. Experienced users and users who are technologically innovative are more likely to exhibit biased optimism towards the technology they have adopted. When such users hear about the failure of the computing technology they have adopted, they are far more likely to blame other users for it. In contrast, less innovative, later adopters of a technology are far more likely to blame their adopted technology and consider it to be inferior. 相似文献

The expansion of mobile broadband services will bring noticeable changes to the market and also have an impact on society. The penetration of mobile broadband services is generally regarded to be a crucial factor for economic growth and global competitiveness of a nation. South Korea continues to hold the global lead in mobile broadband penetration despite the fact that it is neither a technological leader nor a developed nation. This article examines the factors underlying the explosive growth in the number of subscribers to high-speed mobile broadband services in Korea. These factors are analyzed under the theoretical frameworks of the diffusion of innovations and Porter’s diamond model of determinants of national competitive advantage. Korea’s success in mobile broadband deployment is characterized in terms of government support and coordination, supply-side and demand-side conditions, and competition in the market. We propose a conceptual model for assessing the determinants of SaaS diffusion process (i.e. intention, adoption, and routinization). The conceptual model is based on three important theories of adoption at the firm level (i.e., technology-organization-environment [TOE] framework, diffusion of innovation [DOI] theory, and institutional [INT] theory). Data collected from 265 firms are used to test the conceptual model. Nine determinants are found to be statistically significant.
