A model for semiconductor quantum dot molecule based on the current spin density functional theory

Based on the current spin density functional theory, a theoretical model of three vertically aligned semiconductor quantum dots is proposed and numerically studied. This quantum dot molecule (QDM) model is treated with realistic hard-wall confinement potential and external magnetic field in three-dimensional setting. Using the effective-mass approximation with band nonparabolicity, the many-body Hamiltonian results in a cubic eigenvalue problem from a finite difference discretization. A self-consistent algorithm for solving the Schrödinger-Poisson system by using the Jacobi-Davidson method and GMRES is given to illustrate the Kohn-Sham orbitals and energies of six electrons in the molecule with some magnetic fields. It is shown that the six electrons residing in the central dot at zero magnetic field can be changed to such that each dot contains two electrons with some feasible magnetic field. The Förster-Dexter resonant energy transfer may therefore be generated by two individual QDMs. This may motivate a new paradigm of Fermionic qubits for quantum computing in solid-state systems.     

A Least Squares Approach to Escalator Algorithms for Adaptive Filtering

In this paper, we introduce an escalator (ESC) algorithm based on the least squares (LS) criterion. The proposed algorithm is relatively insensitive to the eigenvalue spread ratio (ESR) of an input signal and has a faster convergence speed than the conventional ESC algorithms. This algorithm exploits the fast adaptation ability of least squares methods and the orthogonalization property of the ESC structure. From the simulation results, the proposed algorithm shows superior convergence performance.

一种变步长D-Rake多用户检测器

在时变多径衰落信道下,接收到的CDMA信号功率变化较大,此时D-Rake盲自适应多用户检测器性能显著下降,将变步长LMS算法与基于主分量的相干合并引入到D-Rake(DecorrelatingRake)检测器中,构成一种变步长D-Rake,称之为VD-Rake(Variablestep-sizeDecorrelatingRake)检测器。该检测器能克服原D-Rake检测器对信号功率变化较敏感等缺点,有效地改善了D-Rake检测器的性能。     

Taxometrics in Psychopathology Research: An Introduction to Some of the Procedures and Related Methodological Issues.

This article introduces a special section on the use of taxometrics to examine the categorical versus the dimensional structure of various forms of psychopathology. Paving the way into the special section, this introduction briefly describes 3 taxometric methods--mean above minus below a sliding cut (MAMBAC), maximum covariation (MAXCOV), and maximum eigenvalue (MAXEIG)--and discusses possible threats to statistical conclusion validity that often emerge when such techniques are applied in psychopathology research. Bandpass filters using periodically loaded combline resonators

A novel combline filter is proposed for cellular‐radio base stations. The Q‐factor is significantly improved. The eigenvalue equation is expressed with the single‐team approximation in the gap region of the combline resonator. A two‐pole combline filter is designed. Random errors caused by temperature in magnitude of principal strains evaluated ith 3-element strain gauge rosettes

The effects of the uncertainties associated ith the apparent strain and gauge factor data, given by the manufacturer, in the evaluation of principal strains are examined. Principal strains are obtained by a reduction of the strains measured ith electrical resistance strain gauge rectangular or delta rosettes. The theoretical analysis points out the relevance of the effects caused.

Numerical solution of the kinematic dynamo problem for Beltrami flows in a sphere

The article discusses computational aspects of the kinematic problem of magnetic field generation by a Beltrami flow in a sphere. Galerkin's method is applied with a functional basis consisting of Laplace operator eigenfunctions. Dominant eigenvalues of the magnetic induction operator and associated magnetic eigenmodes are obtained numerically for a certain Beltrami flow for magnetic Reynolds numbers up to 100. The eigenvalue problem is solved by a highly optimized iterative procedure, which is quite general and can be applied to numerical treatment of arbitrary linear stability problems.
