This paper presents a facile and economic development of dye‐sensitized solar cells using a nonprecious counter electrode made from ball‐milled tellurium‐doped graphene (Te‐Gr) and a natural sensitizer extracted from Calotropis gigantea leaves. The prepared materials were characterized using various techniques, such as Raman spectroscopy, X‐ray diffraction (XRD), atomic force microscopy (AFM), impedance spectroscopy, and scanning electron microscopy with built‐in energy‐dispersive X‐ray spectroscopy (SEM with EDS). The electrochemical activity of the produced counter electrodes and the impedance of the fabricated cells were examined and discussed to devise plans for future enhancement of cell performance. A clear pattern of improvement was found when using cost‐effective Te‐Gr relative to the costly platinum counter electrodes, especially when compared with cells employing another natural sensitizer. The results show approximately 51% enhancement over chlorophyll‐based cells made from spinach, where the added advantage in our approach is the utilization of an abundant plant extract with little nutritional appeal.  相似文献

This work investigates the behaviour of elastomeric chains (polybutadienes of identical molecular weight but different microstructures) in the close vicinity of carbon black surfaces in order to attain a better understanding of the structure and properties of interphases. Elastomer–filler interactions are assessed through the study of the thermal properties and NMR relaxation characteristics of the corresponding materials. Three series of samples were compared: pure polymers, raw polymer–filler blends (filler loading ratio: 50 phr) and solvent‐extracted blends (so as to get rid of any polymer which is not under the influence of the solid surface). While differential scanning calorimetry points to the existence of an elastomer fraction which is not detected as undergoing the glass transition, ie is strongly immobilized, [1H] high‐resolution high‐speed magic‐angle spinning solid‐state NMR provides information on the effect exerted by polymer–filler interactions on the mobility of the various constitutive species of the macromolecular backbone. A systematic study of the evolution of the spectral lines yielded by the samples indicates that 1,2‐polybutadiene moieties have a particular affinity towards the carbon black surface which suggests the occurrence of specific interactions at the elastomer–filler interface. © 2001 Society of Chemical Industry  相似文献

The hypothesis (R. J. Davidson, see record 80-00391; M. Kinsbourne, 1978) that hemispheric lateralization of positive and negative emotions reflects the organization of approach and withdrawal responses was examined. Left-sided facial contractions, which activate the right hemisphere and induce negative emotions, facilitated finger extension (a withdrawal response). and right-sided contractions, which activate the left hemisphere and induce positive emotions, facilitated finger flexion (an approach response) and retarded the finger extension (withdrawal) response. Contractions influenced only the ipsilateral finger (controlled by the activated hemisphere). Facilitation results were consistent with the hypothesis. Retardation of withdrawal may reflect reciprocal inhibition between responses or greater susceptibility of withdrawal to emotional variables. Optimizing Safe Yield Policy Implementation   总被引:1,自引:1,他引:0  
The presented method enhances groundwater-mandated safe yield management. It is useful for settings that prevent sustained yield or integrated management. To protect hydraulically connected surface water rights, the Utah government’s Cache Valley groundwater management plan proposes that total pumping increase not exceed 84,431 m3/day. To determine how best to spatially distribute additional allowable pumping, stakeholders quantified limits defining acceptable impacts on selected water resource indicators. A new simulation–optimization (S–O) algorithm used these limits while computing optimal spatially distributed perennial yield or safe yield groundwater pumping extraction strategies. The limits prevent unacceptable decreases in: head and net flow between aquifer and surface waters (rivers, surface/subsurface drains, springs, lakes). The optimization objective function maximizes weighted pumping to provide water for 18 growing municipalities. For 16 perennial yield scenarios, computed optimal pumping increases differ in protectiveness toward senior water rights, and range from 16% to 103% of the state plan-proposed increase. Implementing a protective strategy would achieve 90% of the storage changes needed to reach equilibrium within 23 years. Indicator potentiometric heads would reach equilibrium within 10–40 years. At equilibrium, an optimal Cache Valley perennial yield strategy acceptably minimizes net annual non-pumping discharges. By comparison, multi-period 20-year transient groundwater mining optimizations allow more pumping in early years. Pumping then must decline to satisfy seepage and head constraints through year 20. Adverse seepage impact would increase for years thereafter. For situations governed by safe or perennial yield policy, equilibrium-based (steady-state) optimization is very useful. Electrohydraulic actuators are an attractive choice for active suspension, because these systems provide a high power‐to‐weight ratio. However, their dynamics are highly nonlinear. In addition, the use of one simple controller for both position and force is complicated, because there is a compromise between them in the case of active suspension. Most existing controllers do not efficiently fulfill the requirements, because only one state variable is considered. In this paper, we address these problems by developing a new hybrid controller for both position and force and implementing it in a real‐time test bench. Our goal is to control the vertical position of the passenger seat while tracking the force transmitted to passengers and keeping it within tolerable and comfortable limits. Therefore, the proposed controller is a combination of two controllers. Its flexible structure redirects the control signal to control the proper controlled state variable. The real‐time results of the newly designed hybrid controller are compared with those obtained using a classical proportional integral derivative controller, because this is the most widely used controller in the industry. Myelodysplastic syndromes (MDS) arising in the context of inherited bone marrow failure syndromes (IBMFS) differ in terms of prognosis and treatment strategy compared to MDS occurring in the adult population without an inherited genetic predisposition. The main molecular pathways affected in IBMFS involve telomere maintenance, DNA repair, biogenesis of ribosomes, control of proliferation and others. The increased knowledge on the genes involved in MDS pathogenesis and the wider availability of molecular diagnostic assessment have led to an improvement in the detection of IBMFS genetic predisposition in MDS patients. A punctual recognition of these disorders implies a strict surveillance of the patient in order to detect early signs of progression and promptly offer allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation, which is the only curative treatment. Moreover, identifying an inherited mutation allows the screening and counseling of family members and directs the choice of donors in case of need for transplantation. Here we provide an overview of the most recent data on MDS with genetic predisposition highlighting the main steps of the diagnostic and therapeutic management. In order to highlight the pitfalls of detecting IBMFS in adults, we report the case of a 27-year-old man affected by MDS with an underlying telomeropathy.  相似文献

As VLSI technology progresses deeper into the nanometer range, parasitic on-chip inductance is becoming a major concern for functionality and performance. Most prominently affected are global signal busses comprised of a large number of nets and traversing long distances. In this work, we study the use of swizzling to reduce the variance in the strength of inductive coupling amongst different wires within a wide global signal bus to reduce the resulting variance in signal transition speed. The article presents a formulation of the swizzling technique and results to show that this technique significantly reduces inductive coupling variance within a wide global signal bus with zero area and routing resource penalty.  相似文献

Crosslinking reaction of hydroxyl‐terminated polybutadiene (HTPB)/isophorone di‐isocyanate (IPDI) was monitored by infrared spectroscopy, dynamic mechanical analysis (DMA), swelling measurements, and by relaxation time (T2) measurements obtained by low‐field NMR technique. Chemical reaction monitored by FTIR shows that urethane bonds were predominantly formed throughout the whole reaction period while DMA and swelling became only effective once the three‐dimensional network was formed. NMR results allow differentiating between relaxation‐processes associated with different fractions of the reactants in the mixture prior to the network formation. The most important finding in this study is that two of the relaxation processes were found to decline whereas a new fraction with a short relaxation time which emerged specifically at an early stage of reaction and progressed along with advancement of the reaction. All results pointed out to a change in the mixture behavior around 30 h of crosslinking reaction at 60°C, reflecting an important restriction in molecules diffusion and mobilities which were attributed to the gel point formation. © 2012 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
