Pressure-assisted infiltration was used to synthesize SiC/Al 6061 composites containing high weight percentages of SiC. A combination of PEG and glass water was used to fabricate SiC preforms and the effect of the presence of glass water on the microstructure and mechanical properties of the preforms was evaluated by performing compression tests on the preforms. Also, the compressive strength and the hardness of the SiC/Al composites were investigated. The results revealed that the glass water improved the compressive strength of the preforms by about five times. The microstructural characterization of the composites showed that the penetration of the aluminum melt into the preforms was completed and almost no porosity could be seen in the microstructures of the composites. Moreover, the composite containing 75 wt% SiC exhibited the highest compressive strength as well as the maximum hardness. The results of the wear tests showed that increasing the SiC content reduces the wear rate so that the Al-75 wt% SiC composite has a lower wear rate and a lower coefficient of friction than those of Al-67 wt% SiC composite. This indicated higher wear resistance in these composites than the Al alloy due to the formation of a tribological layer on the surface of the composites.  相似文献

Focussed ion beam milling (FIB) followed by TEM has been used to study ZDDP tribofilms on rubbed steel surfaces. It has been found that the impact of high energy platinum and gallium ions during FIB causes significant morphological and structural changes to the uppermost 30–50 nm of a ZDDP tribofilm. This can be prevented by the low energy deposition of a quite thick gold layer prior to installation of the sample in the FIB facility. This problem, and its solution, have been quite widely reported in the non-tribology literature but have not previously been highlighted in the application of FIB to study tribological surfaces. It has also been found, using this gold pre-deposition method, that the bulk of the ZDDP tribofilm studied has a polycrystalline structure.  相似文献

In the present study, spinel structure CoFe2O4 nanoparticles were successfully synthesized by the sol-gel auto-combustion technique. The effect of apple cider vinegar (ACV) addition as an organic biocompatible agent on the size, morphology, and magnetic properties of CoFe2O4 nanoparticles was investigated in detail. The phase evolution, particle size, and lattice parameter changes of the synthesized phase have been estimated by using Rietveld structure refinement analysis of X-ray powder diffraction data. Also, Fourier transform infrared spectra (FT-IR) of the samples verified the presence of two expected bands correspond to tetrahedral and octahedral metal-oxygen complexes within the spinel structure. Furthermore, microstructural observations revealed that ultrafine particles have a semi-spherical morphology. It was shown that the particles size decreased from ~45 to ~17 nm with an increase in the amount of ACV. Magnetic properties were carried out by vibrating sample magnetometer (VSM) at room temperature. Both the saturation magnetization (Ms) and coercivity (Hc) were found to be significantly dependent on the crystallite size and the amount of ACV.  相似文献

A new nano-sized Zn(II) complex, [Zn(5,5′-dtbu-2,2′-bipy)Cl2] n (1) was synthesized and its structure determined by X-ray crystallography. The new nano-sized complex was prepared at oleic acid as a surfactant at 280 °C and characterized by scanning electron microscopy, elemental analyses and IR spectroscopy. The ZnO nano-particles were synthesized from thermolysis of nano-compound 1 at 600 °C and similar compound, [Zn(5,5′-dimethyl-2,2′-bipy)Cl2] n (2), at two different methods. SEM images show the average size of ZnO nano-particles are 78 and 50 nm for the compounds 1 and 2, respectively.  相似文献

Bipolar Mood Disorder (BMD) and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) patients mostly share clinical signs and symptoms in children; therefore, accurate distinction of these two mental disorders is a challenging issue among the psychiatric society. In this study, 43 subjects are participated including 21 patients with ADHD and 22 subjects with BMD. Their electroencephalogram (EEG) signals are recorded by 22 electrodes in two eyes-open and eyes-closed resting conditions. After a preprocessing step, several features such as band power, fractal dimension, AR model coefficients and wavelet coefficients are extracted from recorded signals. This paper is aimed to achieve a high classification rate between ADHD and BMD patients using a suitable classifier to their EEG features. In this way, we consider a piece wise linear classifier which is designed based on XCSF. Experimental results of XCSF-LDA showed a significant improvement (86.44% accuracy) compare to that of standard XCSF (78.55%). To have a fair comparison, the other state-of-art classifiers such as LDA, Direct LDA, boosted JD-LDA (BJDLDA), and XCSF are assessed with the same feature set that finally the proposed method provided a better results in comparison with the other rival classifiers. To show the robustness of our method, additive white noise with different amplitude is added to the raw signals but the results achieved by the proposed classifier empirically confirmed a higher robustness against noise compare to the other classifiers. Consequently, the proposed classifier can be considered as an effective method to classify EEG features of BMD and ADHD patients.  相似文献

In the present work, nano-composites of Ni-P-SiO2-Al2O3 were coated on AZ91HP magnesium alloy. The surface morphology of the nano-composite coating was studied by field emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM). The amount of SiO2 in the coating was determined by energy-dispersive analysis of x-ray (EDX), and the crystalline structure of the coating was examined by x-ray diffractometer (XRD). All the experiments concerning the corrosion behavior of the coating carried out in 3.5 wt.% NaCl solution and evaluated by electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) and polarization technique. The results showed that an incorporation of SiO2 and Al2O3 in Ni-P coating at the SiO2 concentration of 10 g/Land 14 g/LAl2O3 led to the lowest corrosion rate (i corr = 1.3 µA/cm2), the most positive E corr and maximum microhardness (496 VH). Furthermore, Ni-P-SiO2-Al2O3 nano-composite coating possesses less porosity than that in Ni-P coating, resulting in improving corrosion resistance.  相似文献

In this study, we demonstrated a facile approach for the synthesis of nanocontainers using the encapsulation of a 2-mercaptobenzothiazole (MBT) inhibitor; these nanocontainers were capable of responsively releasing a corrosion inhibitor and of self-healing performances. The anticorrosive performance of the CeO2 nanocontainers was investigated with electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) measurement in a saline electrolyte via the incorporation of different weight percentages (0.5, 1, and 2 wt %) of synthesized nanocontainer in epoxy (EP) resin. The EIS results show that the loading of 1 wt % CeO2 nanocontainer containing MBT inhibitor in the epoxy (EP) coating [EP/NC MBT–CeO2 (1%)] provided the highest Rcoat, the lowest constant phase element of coating, and the optimum release of MBT at different operating pHs. The highest coating resistance Rcoat values of this coating (7.81 × 107 Ω cm2) were about 12 and 8573 times greater than those considered for EP–CeO2 and EP coatings, respectively. Different releases of the MBT inhibitor were detected at various pHs. We found that the coating operating in acidic media exhibited a better self-healing performance. © 2018 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. We introduce a new one-dimensional (1-D) analysis of low-density parity-check (LDPC) codes on additive white Gaussian noise channels which is significantly more accurate than similar 1-D methods. Our method assumes a Gaussian distribution in message-passing decoding only for messages from variable nodes to check nodes. Compared to existing work, which makes a Gaussian assumption both for messages from check nodes and from variable nodes, our method offers a significantly more accurate estimate of convergence behavior and threshold of convergence. Similar to previous work, the problem of designing irregular LDPC codes reduces to a linear programming problem. However, our method allows irregular code design in a wider range of rates without any limit on the maximum variable-node degree. We use our method to design irregular LDPC codes with rates greater than 1/4 that perform within a few hundredths of a decibel from the Shannon limit. The designed codes perform almost as well as codes designed by density evolution.  相似文献
