We present a powerful framework for 3D-texture-based rendering of multiple arbitrarily intersecting volumetric datasets. Each volume is represented by a multi-resolution octree-based structure and we use out-of-core techniques to support extremely large volumes. Users define a set of convex polyhedral volume lenses, which may be associated with one or more volumetric datasets. The volumes or the lenses can be interactively moved around while the region inside each lens is rendered using interactively defined multi-volume shaders. Our rendering pipeline splits each lens into multiple convex regions such that each region is homogenous and contains a fixed number of volumes. Each such region is further split by the brick boundaries of the associated octree representations. The resulting puzzle of lens fragments is sorted in front-to-back or back-to-front order using a combination of a view-dependent octree traversal and a GPU-based depth peeling technique. Our current implementation uses slice-based volume rendering and allows interactive roaming through multiple intersecting multi-gigabyte volumes. 相似文献

Mass transfer parameters are necessary for the design of absorption and desorption processes in packed columns. To determine the effective interfacial area and liquid side mass transfer parameters, CO2 absorption and desorption are frequently used. Reliable analytics for concentration determination are essential to obtain correct results. Newly formed apatitic crystallites of different hard tissues consist, according to our investigations, of chains composed of nanometre-sized particles (islands, dots) arising at nucleating sites of the collagenous and noncollagenous matrix macromolecules. In dentine these islands coalesce rapidly in longitudinal direction to form needle-like crystallites which further coalesce to ribbon-like crystallites. We have concluded that the centre-to-centre distances between these islands represent the distances between the nucleating sites of the matrix macromolecules. We have applied energy-filtering transmission electron microscopy in the selected area electron diffraction mode at different stages of crystal formation in dentine and have obtained quantitative information of the degree of crystal disorder on the basis of the paracrystal theory. The fluctuation of the lattice plane distances in c -axis direction decreases, proceeding from the region near the dentine/predentine border to the dentine/enamel border. 相似文献

It has been shown that the conventional analysis of the capstan-friction behaviour of textile materials is innaccurate for two reasons: firstly, because it ignores the fact that such materials do not as a rule obey Amontons's Law, and. secondly, because the effect of the rigidity of the body passing round the capstan has been neglected. These effects have been analysed separately in a series of papers, but in this paper an attempt is made to take both effects into account. To do this it is necessary to obtain the relationship between the friction constants for localized- and distributed-force systems. Putative control of angiogenesis in hemangioblastomas by the von Hippel-Lindau tumor suppressor gene
The hypoxia-inducible endothelial cell-specific mitogen vascular endothelial growth factor/vascular permeability factor (VEGF/VPF) is expressed in low amounts in adult human brain, but is highly upregulated in the perinecrotic palisading cells of glioblastomas. We observed high VEGF expression in cerebellar hemangioblastomas, which are highly vascular, nonnecrotic and presumably nonhypoxic tumors, and hypothesized that a mechanism other than hypoxia leads to VEGF upregulation. Because hemangioblastomas develop in patients with von Hippel-Lindau disease, and mutations of the von Hippel-Lindau tumor suppressor (VHL) gene have also been reported in sporadic hemangioblastomas, we investigated VHL expression in normal cerebellum and in hemangioblastomas and tested the hypothesis that mutations in the VHL gene lead to upregulation of VEGE We observed constitutive expression of VHL mRNA, but downregulation of VEGF mRNA in the postnatal cerebellum. In the adult cerebellum, VHL is predominantly expressed in neuronal cells. In hemangioblastomas, VHL expression appears to be restricted to stromal cells, suggesting that the neoplastic component is the stromal cell. VHL-deficient renal cell carcinoma cells (786-0) produced significantly higher levels of VEGF mRNA and protein compared with 786-0/ wt10 cells, which were stably transfected with the wild-type VHL gene. Our observations suggest that VHL mutations affect stromal cells in hemangioblastomas and that VEGF is upregulated in stromal cells as a consequence of mutations in the VHL gene. 相似文献

A series of 1,6-dihydro-5-(4H)-pyrimidinone oxime derivatives I was synthesized (Scheme 1, Tables 1 and 2) and tested for muscarinic activity (Table 3) in receptor binding assays using [3H]-oxotremorine-M (Oxo-M) and [3H]-pirenzepine (Pz) as ligands. Potential muscarinic agonistic or antagonistic properties of the compounds were determined using binding studies that measured their potencies to inhibit the binding of Oxo-M and Pz. Preferential inhibition of Oxo-M binding was used as an indicator for potential muscarinic agonistic properties; this potential was confirmed in functional studies on isolated organs. The series produced a wide range of active compounds with differing degrees of selectivity in M1, M2, and M3 functional models. Several compounds that have mixed agonist/antagonist profiles were able to reduce cholinergic-related cognitive impairments in models of mnemonic function. Substitutions (I, e.g. R2 or R3 = Me) at the 1,6-dihydro-5-(4H)pyrimidine ring disrupted binding and efficacy, whereas systematic variation of the oximes substituent R1 resulted in various degrees of potency and selectivity dependent on the nature of the substitution. 相似文献
