Paavo Hassinen from the Laboratory of Structural Engineering at the Technical Research Centre of Finland (VTT) and Pentti Äystö from the collaborating company YIT‐Corporation, Makrotalo, study the short term static properties of a four layer sandwich panel and compare it with the usual three layer panel. The electronic and defect energy level structure of polycrystalline SrAl2O4:Eu2+,R3+ persistent luminescence materials were studied with thermoluminescence and UV–VUV synchrotron radiation emission and excitation spectroscopy. Theoretical calculations using the density functional theory (DFT) were carried out simultaneously with the experimental work. The experimental band gap energy (Eg) value of 6.6 eV agrees very well with the DFT value of 6.4 eV. The 4f7 → 4f65d1 excitation bands of Eu2+ were found rather similar irrespective of the R3+ co-dopant. The trap level energy distribution depended strongly on the R3+ co-dopant except for the shallowest trap energy above the room temperature remaining the same, however. The different processes in the mechanism of persistent luminescence from SrAl2O4:Eu2+,R3+ was constructed and discussed.  相似文献

The Ozone Monitoring Instrument (OMI) operates onboard the National Aeronautics and Space Administration's Earth Observing System Aura satellite, which was launched in July 2004. Like its sister spacecraft Terra and Aqua, Aura's capabilities include direct broadcast (DB), i.e., the ability to broadcast data at the same time as they are being measured and stored in the spacecraft's memory for later transmission to Earth. The Finnish Meteorological Institute's Satellite Data Centre at Sodankyla/spl uml/ in Finnish Lapland is exploiting this capability to receive OMI data while Aura is in sight of the receiver, which enables nearly immediate production of OMI data products for a region that includes a large part of Europe, stretching from the North Pole to the Italian Alps. The current OMI Very Fast Delivery (VFD) products include maps of surface UV-B, ozone columns, and cloud coverage.  相似文献

Payments are the locomotive behind any business domain. It has been predicted that mobile payments will become one of the most successful mobile services, and the security of payments is an important requirement. However, it is difficult to strongly authenticate mobile users remotely and provide an adequate level of non-repudiation of transactions. In this article, we argue that a nationwide public-key infrastructure supported by governmental bodies can be used in a mobile payment system. Not only does it provide strong security, but it also makes the system open to any mobile user, merchant, or financial service provider. Two payment protocols are described: one for virtual point-of-sale payments, and one for vending machine payments. We argue that such a system can be implemented using open development platforms, and its performance is adequate for enabling swift transactions. A prototype of a system which accepts virtual point-of-sale payments is implemented, and its performance and usability are evaluated.  相似文献

A short period of ischemia followed by reperfusion produces a state of affairs in which the cells' potential for surviving longer ischemia is enhanced. This is called ischemic preconditioning. The effects of preconditioning are also related to the reperfusion damage which ensues upon tissue oxygenation. The role of the cellular energy state in reperfusion damage remains an enigma, although ischemic preconditioning is known to trigger mechanisms which contribute to the prevention of unnecessary ATP waste. In some species up to 80% of ATP hydrolysis in ischemia can be attributed to mitochondrial F1-F0-ATPase (ATP synthase), and a role for its inhibitor protein (IF1) in ATP preservation has been proposed. Although originally regarded as limited to large animals with a slow heart beat, inhibition by IF1 is probably a universal phenomenon. Coincidentally with ATPase inhibition, the decline in cellular ATP slows down, but even so the difference in ATP concentration between preconditioned and non-conditioned hearts is still small at the final stages of a long ischemia, when the beneficial effect of preconditioning is observable, although the energy state during reperfusion remains low in hearts which do not recover.  相似文献

Interaction between the bending moment and support reaction introduces new failure modes at intermediate supports of continuous sandwich panels. Two different loading cases have to be separated in the design. Positive support reaction causes a compressive contact pressure between the supporting structure and sandwich panel, and negative support reaction tensile forces in the fasteners of the panels. In the paper, the loading case named the positive support reaction is studied by means of analytical models, numerical analyses and experimental results. The analyses result in recommendations for the design at the serviceability state.  相似文献

The electronic and defect energy level structure of polycrystalline Sr2MgSi2O7:Eu2+,R3+ persistent luminescence materials were studied with thermoluminescence and different synchrotron radiation spectroscopies (UV-VUV emission and excitation, X-ray absorption near-edge spectroscopy (XANES) and extended X-ray absorption fine structure (EXAFS)). Special attention was paid on the effect of the R3+ co-dopants on the persistent luminescence properties of the materials. Theoretical calculations using the density functional theory (DFT) were carried out simultaneously with the experimental work. The experimental band gap energy (Eg) value of ca. 7.1 eV agreed very well with the DFT value of 6.7 eV. The variation of the Eg value was attempted to relate with the trap structure as well as with the different properties of the R3+ co-dopants. The trap level energy distribution depended strongly on the R3+ co-dopant except for the shallowest trap energy above the room temperature remaining practically the same, however. The different processes in the mechanism of persistent luminescence from Sr2MgSi2O7:Eu2+,R3+ were assembled and their contributions discussed.  相似文献

We present a new manufacturing method for the bottom-gate type organic field-effect transistor (OFET) having a self-aligned gate electrode based on conducting poly(aniline). This method utilizes the possibility to turn the insulating emeraldine base (PANI-EB) form of poly(aniline) into the conducting emeraldine salt (PANI-ES) form by using UV exposure and photoacid generator (PAG) material. When the source–drain electrodes are used as the mask layer in the UV exposure step an optimal alignment between the gate electrode and source–drain electrodes can be reached, and the parasitic capacitance of the transistor can be minimized. We anticipate that the proposed concept also simplifies the fabrication of the transistors since no additional processing of the photoresist layers is needed to pattern the gate electrode or the gate insulator layer.  相似文献

In this work, differential ability of plant flavonol quercetin and plant isoflavone biochanin A to modulate oxidative stress and inhibit inflammation-related responses was investigated using human retinal pigment epithelial cells (RPE) at gene expression level. Quercetin protected cells from oxidative stress-induced cell death, whereas biochanin A had no statistically significant protective effects. Quercetin reduced the expression of cytokines IL-6 and IL-1?? in cells treated with H2O2, and expression levels of Nrf2 and HO-1 were increased by quercetin treatment suggesting protective function against oxidative stress. Our data indicate that quercetin may protect cells by inhibiting the production of pro-inflammatory factors such as IL-6, and by inducing the expression of ROS-catalyzing phase II proteins such as HO-1. Therefore, plant extracts rich in flavonol quercetin may be an interesting resource for functional food products and other foods targeted for reduced risks of age-related macular degeneration.  相似文献
