We analysed the ground deformation across two blocks defined by the Rio-Patras fault from 1993 to 2017 using multi-temporal Synthetic Aperture Radar Interferometry (InSAR) techniques. Our main objective was to contribute to the assessment of seismic hazard near the large city of Patras. Multiple data-sets were used, each one covering different temporal periods. Descending and ascending acquisitions, providing different viewing geometries contribute to fully determine the ground displacement in 3D. The data-sets used are from the European Space Agency’s (ESA) European Remote Sensing (ERS), Environmental Satellite (ENVISAT) and SENTINEL-1 as well as German Aerospace Center (DLR) ’s TERRASAR-X missions. Considering ESA’s missions covering both acquisition geometries and long periods, the southern block, showing lack of a sufficient number of scatterers does not allow the displacement characterization. In contrary, the northern block is characterized by a high number of scatterers having values of maximum likehood ranging from ?3.5 to ?4.3 mm year?1 for ascending geometry and from ?1.6 to ?2.7 mm year?1 for the descending one. The fact that both geometries show negative values of displacements are consistent with downlift movement and at the same time the quantitative differentiation probably indicates an horizontal component as well.  相似文献

The enormous energy use of the building sector and the requirements for indoor living quality that aim to improve occupants’ productivity and health, prioritize Smart Buildings as an emerging technology. The Heating, Ventilation and Air-Conditioning (HVAC) system is considered one of the most critical and essential parts in buildings since it consumes the largest amount of energy and is responsible for humans comfort. Due to the intermittent operation of HVAC systems, faults are more likely to occur, possibly increasing eventually building’s energy consumption and/or downgrading indoor living quality. The complexity and large scale nature of HVAC systems complicate the diagnosis of faults in a centralized framework. This paper presents a distributed intelligent fault diagnosis algorithm for detecting and isolating multiple sensor faults in large-scale HVAC systems. Modeling the HVAC system as a network of interconnected subsystems allows the design of a set of distributed sensor fault diagnosis agents capable of isolating multiple sensor faults by applying a combinatorial decision logic and diagnostic reasoning. The performance of the proposed method is investigated with respect to robustness, fault detectability and scalability. Simulations are used to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed method in the presence of multiple sensor faults applied to a 83-zone HVAC system and to evaluate the sensitivity of the method with respect to sensor noise variance.   相似文献

At metal/organic interfaces, the insertion of an organic monolayer can significantly modify the surface properties of the substrate, especially in terms of charge injection across the interface. Herein, we study the formation of an insulating monolayer of morpholine or amine-functionalized polystyrene on Al(111) and Au(111) surfaces and its impact on surface work-function and charge injection. First-principles calculations based on Density Functional Theory have been carried out and point to a significant decrease in the work-function of modified metal surfaces; this is in very good agreement with ultraviolet photoemission spectroscopy measurements performed on the Au(111) surface. In addition, a bilayer cathode, consisting of a thin film of high-work-function metal, such as Al and Au, and a layer of amine-functionalized polystyrene, was also fabricated and tested in organic light-emitting diodes. Such bilayer structures exhibit substantially enhanced efficiency when compared with controls without the functionalized polymers. Our combined theoretical and experimental investigation gives insight into how a thin layer of a commodity polymer can be used to transform rather high-work-function metals into high-performance cathodes to provide efficient electron injection.  相似文献

Here, a single‐step, biomimetic approach for the realization of omnidirectional transparent antireflective glass is reported. In particular, it is shown that circularly polarized ultrashort laser pulses produce self‐organized nanopillar structures on fused silica (SiO2). The laser‐induced nanostructures are selectively textured on the glass surface in order to mimic the spatial randomness, pillar‐like morphology, as well as the remarkable antireflection properties found on the wings of the glasswing butterfly, Greta oto, and various Cicada species. The artificial structures exhibit impressive antireflective properties, both in the visible and infrared frequency ranges, which are remarkably stable over time. Accordingly, the laser‐processed glass surfaces show reflectivity smaller than 1% for various angles of incidence in the visible spectrum for s–p linearly polarized configurations. However, in the near‐infrared spectrum, the laser‐textured glass shows higher transmittance compared to the pristine. It is envisaged that the current results will revolutionize the technology of antireflective transparent surfaces and impact numerous applications from glass displays to optoelectronic devices.  相似文献

The selection of thermal insulation solutions has to satisfy many criteria: energy performance is the obvious one, structural and safety performance is a prerequisite, and environmental and economic aspects are those that can make the difference. However, especially when buildings operate under the Mediterranean climates, where outdoor conditions have to be mitigated by the building fabric throughout the year, the contribution of an insulation solution to indoor thermal comfort is also an important issue. In this approach, an integrated decision support system was applied to assess thermal insulation practices used commonly in residential buildings in the Mediterranean area. The system assesses the buildings’ elements over their life cycle, with thermal comfort being evaluated by means of the PMV/PPD index. Twenty-three thermal insulation configurations were considered, with different locations (internal, middle, external), materials (expanded polystyrene, extruded polystyrene, stone wool), and thicknesses. As the results showed, the position and the thickness of the insulation materials have a large impact on the energy consumption, the overall environmental impact, and the life cycle cost of the building, while thermal comfort was affected to a lesser degree.  相似文献

One of the major design problems in the context of manufacturing systems is the well-known Buffer Allocation Problem (BAP). This problem arises from the cost involved in terms of space requirements on the production floor and the need to keep in mind the decoupling impact of buffers in increasing the throughput of the line. Production line designers often need to solve the Buffer Allocation Problem (BAP), but this can be difficult, especially for large production lines, because the task is currently highly time consuming. Designers would be interested in a tool that would rapidly provide the solution to the BAP, even if only a near optimal solution is found, especially when they have to make their decisions at an operational level (e.g. hours). For decisions at a strategic level (e.g. years), such a tool would provide preliminary results that would be useful, before attempting to find the optimal solution with a specific search algorithm.  相似文献
