Neural network-based asymptotic tracking control of unknown nonlinear systems with continuous control command

ABSTRACT

This paper proposes a robust tracking controller for a class of nonlinear second-order systems with time-varying uncertainties. The controller is mainly based on the robust integral of the sign of the error (RISE) control approach to achieve an asymptotic stability result with a continuous control command in the presence of additive uncertainties. An adaptive feedforward neural network control term is blended with a new RISE controller to improve the system's transient performance. The proposed RISE controller is a modified version of the existing saturated RISE controller such that only sign of the derivative of the output is needed. The stability of the closed-loop system is well studied, where a local asymptotic stability is proven. The controller performance is validated through simulations on a two-degree-of-freedom lower limb robotic exoskeleton.     

Dithiocarbamate as an efficient intermediate for the synthesis of 2-(alkylthio)thiazol-4(5H)-ones

An effective approach for the synthesis of 2-(alkylthio)thiazol-4(5H)-ones from alkyl dithiocarbamates and chloroacetyl chloride in the presence of NaHCO₃ has been developed. Good to excellent yields of products, simple reaction conditions and general applicability are the most important advantages of this protocol.     

Finding the solution of nonlinear equations by a class of optimal methods

This paper is devoted to the study of an iterative class for numerically approximating the solution of nonlinear equations. In fact, a general class of iterations using two evaluations of the first order derivative and one evaluation of the function per computing step is presented. It is also proven that the class reaches the fourth-order convergence. Therefore, the novel methods from the class are Jarratt-type iterations, which agree with the optimality hypothesis of Kung–Traub. The derived class is further extended for multiple roots. That is to say, a general optimal quartic class of iterations for multiple roots is contributed, when the multiplicity of the roots is available. Numerical experiments are employed to support the theory developed in this work.     

Ionization coefficient of monolayer graphene nanoribbon

A semi-analytical model for impact ionization coefficient of graphene nanoribbon (GNR) is presented. The model is derived by calculating probability of electrons reaching ionization threshold energy E_t and the distance travelled by electron gaining E_t. In addition, ionization threshold energy is semi-analytically modelled for GNR. During modelling, we justify our assumptions using analytical modelling and comparison with simulation. Furthermore, it is shown that conventional silicon models are not valid for calculation of ionization coefficient of GNR. Finally, the profile of ionization is presented using the proposed models and the results are compared with that of silicon.
