Nanogold and nanosilver composites with lignin-containing cellulose fibres   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
The formation of nanogold and nanosilver composites with cellulose paper fibres and the associated lignin component together with their antimicrobial properties are presented. This follows on from the proprietary technology of Johnston et al. [1] wherein they used nanogold and nanosilver entities in wool fibres to provide novel colourfast colourants in textiles with additional effective antimicrobial and catalytic properties. The nanogold and nanosilver are formed and bound directly onto the unbleached lignin-containing paper fibres without the use of an external linker molecule. For this, the lignin was found to play an essential role and hence the methodology presented is applicable only to cellulose in the form of unbleached kraft fibres and mechanical pulp. The phenol and possibly the aromatic methoxy groups of the lignin are considered to reduce Au3+ to Au0 and Ag+ to Ag0, respectively, and bind the nanogold and nanosilver to the fibre surface. SEM images and UV–Visible spectra confirm the formation of nanogold and nanosilver on the fibre surface. Changes in the IR spectra are consistent with the above role of the phenol and methoxy groups. The resulting nanogold—unbleached kraft fibres are purple and the nanosilver—unbleached kraft fibres are yellow due to the surface plasmon resonance effects of nanogold and nanosilver respectively. The nanogold—unbleached kraft fibres and particularly the nanosilver—unbleached kraft fibres exhibit very effective antimicrobial properties at low levels of gold and at very low levels of silver. In this way we have been able to produce novel nanogold paper and nanosilver paper fibres and products which collectively exhibit the properties of the nanomaterials and the fibre substrates in a synergistic way. This provides the opportunity for developing new functional paper products for antimicrobial packaging, medical dressings, and clothing.  相似文献

Gold colloids are well known to display strong plasmon absorption bands due to electron oscillations induced by the incident light. When the colloids are in proximity, the plasmon absorption bands are often perturbed. This has enabled us recently to successfully develop a glucose sensing platform based on the disassociation of dextran-coated gold colloids, cross-linked with Con A, by glucose. However, a much more useful and simpler property of gold colloids, which has been ill explored with regard to sensing, is their ability to efficiently scatter excitation light. We have found that our nanogold sensing aggregates are indeed efficient light scatters around the nanogold plasmon absorption band. By measuring the ratio of scattered light intensities at two different arbitrary wavelengths, 560 and 680 nm, glucose concentrations can be readily determined from a few millimolar up to approximately 60 mM, using a simple white light LED and detection system. Further, by measuring the ratio of the scattered intensities, this sensing approach is independent of the total sensing aggregate concentration and the excitation and detection instrumentation fluctuations or drifts. This simplistic and low-cost approach to glucose sensing, coupled with the sensing aggreagates' ability to scatter red light, suggests the potential use of these aggregates for use in physiological transdermal glucose monitoring, either for implantable skin sensors or glucose sensing tattoos (discussed later).  相似文献

The clinical use of interleukin‐12 (IL12), a cytokine endowed with potent immunotherapeutic anticancer activity, is limited by systemic toxicity. The hypothesis is addressed that gold nanoparticles tagged with a tumor‐homing peptide containing isoDGR, an αvβ3‐integrin binding motif, can be exploited for delivering IL12 to tumors and improving its therapeutic index. To this aim, gold nanospheres are functionalized with the head‐to‐tail cyclized‐peptide CGisoDGRG (Iso1) and murine IL12. The resulting nanodrug (Iso1/Au/IL12) is monodispersed, stable, and bifunctional in terms of αvβ3 and IL12‐receptor recognition. Low‐dose Iso1/Au/IL12, equivalent to 18–75 pg of IL12, induces antitumor effects in murine models of fibrosarcomas and mammary adenocarcinomas, with no evidence of toxicity. Equivalent doses of Au/IL12 (a nanodrug lacking Iso1) fail to delay tumor growth, whereas 15 000 pg of free IL12 is necessary to achieve similar effects. Iso1/Au/IL12 significantly increases tumor infiltration by innate immune cells, such as NK and iNKT cells, monocytes, and neutrophils. NK cell depletion completely inhibits its antitumor effects. Low‐dose Iso1/Au/IL12 can also increase the therapeutic efficacy of adoptive T‐cell therapy in mice with autochthonous prostate cancer. These findings indicate that coupling IL12 to isoDGR‐tagged nanogold is a valid strategy for enhancing its therapeutic index and sustaining adoptive T‐cell therapy.  相似文献

水三相点是开尔文热力学温度的唯一基准点,也是ITS-90国际温标重要的定义固定点。因此,水三相点不确定度分析对整个温标的建立、温度量值传递起着至关重要的作用。近3年来,中国计量科学研究院研制出一系列高质量的水三相点容器,加强了水三相点的研究,为不确定度的分析提供了更为可靠的实验依据。同时,不确定度的分析也是客观评价新研制容器性能的一个重要指标。因此,根据实验结果对新研制容器所复现的水三相点进行了不确定度评定。评定结果表明,其扩展不确定度为0.16mK(k=2.69,P=0.99)。  相似文献

从理论和试验两个方面研究了水线震荡对斜拉桥拉索风雨激振稳定性的作用。建立了拉索和水线的运动方程,应用李雅普诺夫函数给出了水线不平衡角的判别公式。设计了一种新型的带有可运动人工水线的拉索模型,并进行了风洞试验。理论和试验结果表明,水线震荡是导致拉索风雨激振具有较大不稳定范围的主要原因。试验结果证明了理论模型和分析的结果是正确的。  相似文献

贝壳珍珠层是软体动物壳的最内层,经过若干世纪的自然进化,贝壳珍珠层形成了优良的微结构,并使贝壳具有了相当高的强度、刚度及断裂韧性.本文利用扫描电镜(SEM)观察了鲍鱼贝壳珍珠层的主要微结构特征,发现其是由层状的无机文石片和有机胶原蛋白质组成的生物陶瓷复合材料.根据发现的贝壳珍珠层层状微结构特征,建立贝壳珍珠层三维有限元模型,并用此模型分析了珍珠层的拉伸屈服极限与无机文石片拉伸屈服极限及其厚度的关系,研究表明珍珠层的屈服极限随无机文石片屈服极限的增加和无机文石片厚度的减小而增加.  相似文献
