Accomplishing Deterministic XML Query Optimization   总被引:1,自引:1,他引:0       下载免费PDF全文
As the popularity of XML (extensible Markup Language) keeps growing rapidly, the management of XML compliant structured-document databases has become a very interesting and compelling research area. Query optimization for XML structured-documents stands out as one of the most challenging research issues in this area because of the much enlarged optimization (search) space, which is a consequence of the intrinsic complexity of the underlying data model of XML data. We therefore propose to apply deterministic transformations on query expressions to most aggressively prune the search space and fast achieve a sufficiently improved alternative (if not the optimal) for each incoming query expression. This idea is not just exciting but practically attainable. This paper first provides an overview of our optimization strategy, and then focuses on the key implementation issues of our rule-based transformation system for XML query optimization in a database environment. The performance results we obtained from experimentation show that our approach is a valid and effective one.  相似文献

Secure XML query answering to protect data privacy and semantic cache to speed up XML query answering are two hot spots in current research areas of XML database systems. While both issues are explored respectively in depth,they have not been studied together,that is,the problem of semantic cache for secure XML query answering has not been addressed yet. In this paper,we present an interesting joint of these two aspects and propose an efficient framework of semantic cache for secure XML query answering,which can improve the performance of XML database systems under secure circumstances. Our framework combines access control,user privilege management over XML data and the state-of-the-art semantic XML query cache techniques,to ensure that data are presented only to authorized users in an efficient way. To the best of our knowledge,the approach we propose here is among the first beneficial efforts in a novel perspective of combining caching and security for XML database to improve system performance. The efficiency of our framework is verified by comprehensive experiments.  相似文献

Recent advances in database related applications propose many new challenges and have inspired database researchers and practitioners to further make their efforts on new database technologies. Currently, there are many related ongoing research fields, such as XML databases, data mining, data warehouses, data streams, database integration, moving object management, bioinformatics, peer-to-peer data systems and so on. The study on database technologies, or more generally, the technologies of data and information management, is an important and active research field. Recently, many exciting results have been reported. In this fast growing field, Chinese researchers play more and more active roles. Research papers from Chinese scholars, both in China and abroad,appear in prestigious academic forums.In this paper,we, nine young Chinese researchers working in the United States, present concise surveys and report our recent progress on the selected fields that we are working on.Although the paper covers only a small number of topics and the selection of the topics is far from balanced, we hope that such an effort would attract more and more researchers,especially those in China,to enter the frontiers of database research and promote collaborations. This paper explains the concepts of Oracle spatial as a way to store and analyze spatial data. Oracle spatial is designed to make spatial data management easier and more natural to users of location-enabled applications and Geographic Information System (GIS) applications. Once spatial data is stored in an Oracle database, it can be easily manipulated, retrieved, and related to all other data stored in the database. The data that indicates the Earth location (such as longitude and latitude) of these rendered objects is the spatial data. When the map is rendered, this spatial data is used to project the locations of the objects on a two-dimensional piece of paper. A GIS is often used to store, retrieve, and render this Earth-relative spatial data. Types of spatial data (other than GIS data) that can be stored using Oracle spatial include data from Computer Aided Design (CAD) and Computer Aided Manufacturing (CAM) systems.  相似文献

In object-oriented database systems(OOBSs),the traditional transaction models are no longer suitable because of the difference between the object-oriented data model(OODM)and the conventional data models(e.g.relational data model).In this paper,transction models for advanced database applications are reviewed and their shortcomings are analyzed.Exchangeability of operations is proposed instead of commuativity and recoverability for using more semantics in transaction management.As a result,an object-oriented transaction model(in short,OOTM)is presented.It is not modeled for some special application,but directly based on object-oriented paradigms.A transaction is regarded as an interpretation of a metho.Each transaction(even subtransactions)keeps relative ACID(Atomicity,Consistency,Isolation,Durability)properties,therefore the special problems appearing in OOBSs such as“long transactions”,“visibility of inconsistent database state”can be solved.  相似文献

This paper proposes a value compression memory architecture for QRS detection in ultra-low-power ECG sensor nodes. Based on the exploration of value spatial locality in the most critical preprocessing stage of the ECG algorithm, a cost efficient compression strategy, which reorganizes several adjacent sample values into a base value with several displacements, is proposed. The displacements will be half or quarter scale quantifications; as a result, the storage size is reduced. The memory architecture saves memory space by storing compressed data with value spatial locality into a compressed memory section and by using a small, uncompressed memory section as backup to store the uncompressed data when a value spatial locality miss occurs. Furthermore,a low-power accession strategy is proposed to achieve low-power accession. An embodiment of the proposed memory architecture has been evaluated using the MIT/BIH database, the proposed memory architecture and a low-power accession strategy to achieve memory space savings of 32.5% and to achieve a 68.1% power reduction with a negligible performance reduction of 0.2%.  相似文献

Information imprecision and uncertainty exist in many real-world applications and for this reason fuzzy data management has been extensively investigated in various database management systems. Currently, introducing native support for XML data in relational database management systems (RDBMs) has attracted considerable interest with a view to leveraging the powerful and reliable data management services provided by RDBMs. Although there is a rich literature on XML-to-relational storage, none of the existing solutions satisfactorily addresses the problem of storing fuzzy XML data in RDBMs. In this paper, we study the methodology of storing and querying fuzzy XML data in relational databases. In particular, we present an edge-based approach to shred fuzzy XML data into relational data. The unique feature of our approach is that no schema information is required for our data storage. On this basis, we present a generic approach to translate path expression queries into SQL for processing XML queries.  相似文献

随着XML相关标准的推广与应用,Web上出现了大量的XML文档,为了进行有效的管理,有必要将XML文档存储到数据库中,存储方案已成为XML数据管理领域研究的一个重要课题,将XML文档映射为关系表,存储到传统的RDBMS中,会破坏XML数据的树形结构,造成查询效率的下降,提出了一种新的用于原生XML数据库的存储方案--XN-Store,该方案基于索引结构将XML节点作为记录直接存储到分页文件中,建立起持久化文档对象模型,从而保持了XML数据原有的树形结构.XN-Store不仅降低了XML文档的存储空间开销,而且实现了XML节点的快速串行化输出和访问操作.作为通用的原生XML存储方案,XN-Store支持各种二级索引的创建,以提高XML查询处理的效率,采用多种数据集,分别在XN-Store和先前的XML存储系统上进行实验,比较存储空间、存储时间、串行化时间和节点访问时间.实验结果表明,XN-Store是一种高性能的原生XML数据库存储方案.  相似文献
