Herein we describe electrochemical and spectroscopic properties of lithium titanate spinel as well as an easy method based on colorimetry to determine the lithium content of electrodes containing lithium titanate spinel as active material. Raman microspectrometry measurements have been performed to follow lithium insertion into and extraction from the active material, respectively. The Raman signals display a pronounced fading of intensity already at low levels of lithium intercalation and disappear at a SOC higher than ∼10%. However, the colorimetric method can be used up to a SOC of 50%. 相似文献

Numerical calculations of the evaporation kinetics of bulk volatile liquids and of water from smectite clay granules are compared with experimental results. The weight loss of the volatiles is analyzed by thermogravimetry and differential calorimetry. Under the thermodynamic conditions of the experiments, finite element calculations are in good agreement with the experimental data, and an approximate semi-analytical model is developed in order to explain the dependence of the rate of evaporation on the temperature, the chemical species and the carrier gas flow rate. The initial rate of evaporation of water from the clay granule is close to that for bulk water. Its decrease with time is determined mainly by changes in the gas/condensed phase partition given by the equilibrium desorption isotherm, with little limitations due to internal diffusion effects for the present experimental conditions. Its temperature dependence could also be approximately described by an Arrhenius-type equation derived from the semi-analytical model. Further analysis of the experimental measurements reveals steps in the heat of vaporization of water as a function of water concentration, that could be related to the equilibrium desorption isotherm. 相似文献

Energy-Dispersive X-ray Diffraction (EDXRD) is well suited for the detection of narcotics and a wide range of explosives. This technique, combined with the dual-energy tomosynthesis, has been used for verification of a novel portable imaging system, the aim of which is characterization of dangerous/illicit materials inside objects. We present the design methodology and optimization study using EDXRD modality. In order to evaluate the experimental conditions best suited for system purposes, kinematic theory of diffraction has been exploited to model the height and shape of diffraction patterns. This article analyses the housing and homeless pathways of (ex)homeless persons in the coastal city of Ostend. After a short review of the literature on the causes and meaning of the vulnerability of homeless persons, we describe how our case study with (former) homeless persons in Ostend was organised. We deal with some methodological issues and the analytic results, revealing a very complex housing trajectory. We focus on these dynamic and complex housing pathways and look at the role of relationships and relationship breakdown, work and unemployment, eviction after rent arrears and moving as an escape strategy. We also deal with the searching process for housing and the role of social networks. We end with some conclusions and interest points for policy. 相似文献

The conception of net zero energy buildings (NZEB) has been introduced to limit energy consumption and pollution emissions in buildings. Classification of NZEB is based on renewable energy (RE) supply options, energy measurement process, RE-sources location, and balances whether are energetic or exergetic. In general, it is traditionally agreed that there are three main steps to reach the NZEB performance, starting through the use of passive strategies, energy efficient technologies, and then RE generation systems. Then, these three steps could be accompanied with the smart integration of advanced efficient energy technologies. A state of the art shows that the main ZEB studies are related to: energy savings, reduce electric bills, energy independence, pollution reduction, and occupants comfort, in addition, others are more interested in the aesthetic aspect by combining modern technologies with innovations to achieve high energy and sustainability performance. Building optimization is a promising technique to evaluate NZEB design choices; it has been adopted to choose the perfect solution to reach the zero energy performance through the optimization of an objective function related to energy (thermal loads, RE generation, energy savings) and/or environment (CO2 emissions) and/or economy (life-cycle cost (LCC), net-present value (NPV), investment cost). This paper starts by presenting the global energetic and pollution challenges the world faces. Moreover, it shows, to the best to the author’s knowledge, the existing NZEB definitions and the corresponding case studies investigated in 8 different climatic zones (humid continental, humid subtropical, Mediterranean, moderate continental, moderate continental, marine west coast, tropical, semi-arid and hot), the paper also focus on the importance to treat each climate separately. Even in the same country, two or more climates may co-exist. NZEBs drawbacks are also presented. Furthermore, different optimization problems are reviewed in the last section. Building energy optimization methods are employed to obtain the ideal solution for specific objective functions which are either related to energy, and/or environment and/or economy. Optimization variables are distributed between passive and/or RE generation systems. Finally, a table summarizing the most commonly used electric and thermal RE applications which yield to the zero energy balance in each climate, as well as three flowcharts are presented to summarize the whole three-stage procedure, to reach NZEB, starting from building designing, passing through the optimization procedure, and lastly categorizing the zero energy balance. 相似文献

This paper introduces a system for the direct editing of highlights produced by anisotropic BRDFs, which we call anisotropic highlights. We first provide a comprehensive analysis of the link between the direction of anisotropy and the shape of highlight curves for arbitrary object surfaces. The gained insights provide the required ingredients to infer BRDF orientations from a prescribed highlight tangent field. This amounts to a non‐linear optimization problem, which is solved at interactive framerates during manipulation. Taking inspiration from sculpting software, we provide tools that give the impression of manipulating highlight curves while actually modifying their tangents. Our solver produces desired highlight shapes for a host of lighting environments and anisotropic BRDFs. 相似文献

For heterogeneous distributed computing systems, important design issues are scalability and system optimization. Given such systems, it is crucial to develop low computational complexity algorithms to schedule tasks in a manner that exploits the heterogeneity of the resources and applications. In this paper, we report and evaluate three scalable, and fast scheduling heuristics for highly heterogeneous distributed computing systems. We conduct a comprehensive performance evaluation study using simulation. The benchmarking outlines the performance of the schedulers, representing scalability, makespan, flowtime, computational complexity, and memory utilization. The set of experimental results shows that our heuristics perform as good as the traditional approaches, for makespan and flowtime, while featuring lower complexity, lower running time, and lower used memory.
