Non-enzymatic browning (NEB) development was studied in dehydrated potato at 70 °C. It was related to the macroscopic and molecular properties and to water–solid interactions over a wide range of water activities. Time resolved 1H NMR, thermal transitions and water sorption isotherms were evaluated. Although non-enzymatic browning could be detected in the glassy state; colour development was higher in the supercooled state. The reaction rate increased up to a water content of 26 g/100 g of solids (aw = 0.84) and then decreased at higher water contents, concomitantly with the increase of water proton mobility. The joint analyses of NEB kinetics, water sorption isotherm and proton relaxation behaviour made it evident that the point at which the reaction rate decreased, after a maximum value, could be related to the appearance of highly mobile water. The results obtained in this work indicate that the prediction of chemical reaction kinetics can be performed through the integrated analysis of water sorption, water and solids mobility and the physical state of the matrix. 相似文献

Early career psychologists (ECPs) represent the future for the professional organizations in psychology. To build relationships with ECPs, these organizations must understand and be responsive to their needs. Therefore, the National Register of Health Service Providers in Psychology developed and distributed an Internet survey to ECPs in 2006 to assess interest in and awareness of membership and credentialing organizations in psychology. The 1,852 psychologists who completed the Internet survey indicated a lack of familiarity with credentialing organizations in psychology and their benefits. The authors discuss the role of membership and credentialing organizations in addressing the needs of ECPs and discuss possible reasons for the small number of credentialed ECPs. In this article we survey common themes in recent migration research and comment on the actual and potential contribution of regional science to this literature. There has been a marked shift in research from internal to international migration. The two research programmes would benefit from a unified framework. Spatial and systemic features of migration systems remain underdeveloped. Moreover, the perspectives from the different disciplines that intersect in regional science can still be integrated better. Communication of the research findings in terms understood by policymakers and practitioners is also desirable. Finally, many new and interesting research topics will emerge when greater effort is made to link migration research with other current research topics in regional science.JEL Classification:

Future robotic vehicles will perform challenging tasks in rough terrain, such as planetary exploration and military missions. Rovers with actively articulated suspensions can improve rough-terrain mobility by repositioning their center of mass. This paper presents a method to control actively articulated suspensions to enhance rover tipover stability. A stability metric is defined using a quasi-static model, and optimized on-line. The method relies on estimation of wheel-terrain contact angles. An algorithm for estimating wheel-terrain contact angles from simple on-board sensors is developed. Simulation and experimental results are presented for the Jet Propulsion Laboratory Sample Return Rover that show the control method yields substantially improved stability in rough-terrain. 相似文献
