Drug which shows extensive first pass effect is difficult task that, needs to be solved by formulators in the pharmaceutical science. The low oral bioavailability (49%) of flutamide may be due to poor wettability, low aqueous solubility and extensive first pass effect. The aim of present investigation was to prepare flutamide loaded microspheres and incorporate it into suppositories for rectal delivery to avoid first pass effect and enhance residence time. Flutamide loaded mucoadhesive microspheres of Ocimum Basilicum mucilage (OBM) were prepared using spray drying and characterized by percent production yield, encapsulation efficiency, particle size, zeta potential, polydispersity index, DSC, SEM, XRPD, in vitro drug release and stability studies. Moreover, ex vivo mucoadhesion was investigated using falling liquid film technique to determine the adhesion of microspheres to sheep rectal mucosa. The microspheres had nearly spherical shape and size about 2.53?μm. The encapsulation efficiency and mucoadhesion of optimized formulation MBF10 were found to be 69.6?±?2.3% and 89.01?±?2.18%, respectively. Percent CDR of optimized flutamide loaded mucoadhesive microspheres was found to be 88.7?±?1.3 at 7?h. In conclusion, OBM microparticles based suppository could be used to deliver drug through rectal delivery.  相似文献

Guayule natural rubber (GNR) is an alternative resource of Hevea natural rubber (HNR) with 99.9% cis content in its 1,4-polyisoprene chemical backbone. In this study, compounds were formulated independently with four different reinforcing fillers such as carbon black (HAF), precipitated silica (VN3), fume silica (FUM) and nanofly ash (NFA) for the advancement of GNR based products. The cure characteristic, dynamic-mechanical performance and mechanical properties of GNR composite were studied with the reinforcing effect of different fillers on GNR. The cure characteristic results demonstrated that HAF and FUM silica filled compounds had more processing safety than VN3 and NFA filled compounds. Viscoelastic parameters of the vulcanizates were studied by dynamic mechanical analysis to estimate the glass transition characteristics and dynamic behavior. The higher storage modulus of FUM silica vulcanizate was an indication of superior filler reinforcing nature and improved rolling resistance than other filled systems. Additionally, HRTEM analysis also proved the better filler dispersion ability of FUM silica in GNR matrix. The mechanical properties were studied with a variation of each filler loading of 8, 16, and 32 phr in GNR vulcanizates. The tensile strength of each filled system increased with an increase of filler content from 8 to 32 phr. In comparison, FUM silica GNR vulcanizates exhibited better mechanical properties, therefore, it was considered as a better structure-performance composite than those of HAF, VN3 and NFA filled composites.

A surface functionalized gas sensing material convincingly giving enhanced response to ethanol is demonstrated by SnO2 activated ZnO. Zinc oxide was synthesized by a chemical route, deposited on an alumina substrate and activated by tin dioxide obtained by on-site oxidation of tin chloride. The XRD study of samples confirmed wurtzite hexagonal structure of zinc oxide and FESEM investigation revealed that surface of activated ZnO microrods was covered by nanoparticles of tin dioxide. Sensing response of sensing elements activated with different concentrations of tin chloride solution has been investigated. It was found that response to ethanol vapor significantly enhanced (eight times) by surface activation with tin dioxide, which optimized at a concentration of 3 wt.%.  相似文献

The paper compares the thermodynamic performance of MS9001 gas turbine based cogeneration cycle having a two-pressure heat recovery steam generator (HRSG) for different blade cooling means. The HRSG has a steam drum generating steam to meet coolant requirement, and a second steam drum generates steam for process heating. Gas turbine stage cooling uses open loop cooling or closed loop cooling schemes. Internal convection cooling, film cooling and transpiration cooling techniques employing steam or air as coolants are considered for the performance evaluation of the cycle. Cogeneration cycle performance is evaluated using coolant flow requirements, plant specific work, fuel utilisation efficiency, power-to-heat-ratio, which are function of compressor pressure ratio and turbine inlet temperature, and process steam drum pressure. The maximum and minimum values of power-to-heat ratio are found with steam internal convection cooling and air internal convection cooling respectively whereas maximum and minimum values of fuel utilisation efficiency are found with steam internal convection cooling and closed loop steam cooling. The analysis is useful for power plant designers to select the optimum compressor pressure ratio, turbine inlet temperature, fuel utilisation efficiency, power-to-heat ratio, and appropriate cooling means for a specified value of plant specific work and process heating requirement.  相似文献

Polymers are known to undergo order↔order and order↔disorder transitions, when subjected to a change of pressure, temperature, solvent, pH of the medium etc. The molecular processes, which alter the volume of the system, are found to be highly sensitive to the pressure. In the present communication Zimm and Bragg model of helix↔coil transition has been modified to interpret the experimental data of pressure induced phase transition in polystyrene-polybutadiene [PS-PB] at different pressurization rates, as reported by Migler and Han, utilizing the Birefringence and small angle neutron scattering technique. An expression for the degree of order is obtained from the grand partition function for the entire chain in terms of nucleation parameter, which controls the transition width. The nucleation parameter σ increases with the increase in the ODT temperatures of the system. The phenomenon of hysteresis has been discussed in relation to the pressurization rate, which increases/decreases with the corresponding increase/decrease in the pressurization rate. The theoretical transition curves are found to be in good agreement with experimental data.  相似文献

Laminated composite plates find extensive use in many engineering applications. Some of these incorporate large deflections that may not be in the linear range. The external loading may be random in nature. The laminate material properties show an inherent dispersion around a mean value. In this paper the static response of laminated composite flat plates to transverse random loading has been studied. The material properties have been taken as random variables for accurate prediction of the system behaviour. The basic formulation of the problem has been developed based on the classical laminate theory and the Von-Karman non-linear strain–displacement relationship. A first order perturbation technique has been used to obtain the second order response statistics. Typical results have been presented for a plate with all edges simply supported. A comparison has been drawn with Monte Carlo simulation results for validation of the proposed approach. The effects of side-to-thickness ratio, aspect ratio and change in standard deviation of input random variables have been investigated for cross-ply symmetric and anti-symmetric laminates.  相似文献

The magnitude of precipitation plays an important role in the yield and supply of terrigenous matter into the sea through fluvial supply. The influence of climate on the influx of total suspended matter (TSM) into the continental margin of the SE Arabian Sea has been evaluated from subweekly synoptic variations in TSM and its advection rates, currents and winds during the southwest monsoon (SWM) and postmonsoon season. Our study endorses the high influx of TSM during the SWM (>82 mg l?1; advection 26–110 mg m?2 s?1), albeit that most of it is sequestered into the shallow coastal region. Over the mid-outer shelf, there is uniformly low TSM (12–24 mg l?1) and a weak TSM advection (9–4 mg m?2 s?1) throughout the year. This trend is persistent also in areas having upwelling-induced high marine productivity. We therefore surmise that higher fluvial influx and primary production during the SWM do not necessarily enhance the supply of particulate matter into the deeper offshore regions of the SE Arabian Sea. We ascribe a vital role to the prevailing morphodynamic processes.  相似文献

The network scenario is that of an infrastructure IEEE 802.11 WLAN with a single AP with which several stations (STAs) are associated. The AP has a finite size buffer for storing packets. In this scenario, we consider TCP-controlled upload and download file transfers between the STAs and a server on the wireline LAN (e.g., 100 Mbps Ethernet) to which the AP is connected. In such a situation, it is well known that because of packet losses due to finite buffers at the AP, upload file transfers obtain larger throughputs than download transfers. We provide an analytical model for estimating the upload and download throughputs as a function of the buffer size at the AP. We provide models for the undelayed and delayed ACK cases for a TCP that performs loss recovery only by timeout, and also for TCP Reno. The models are validated in comparison with NS2 simulations.  相似文献

Natural rubber (HNR), produced from Hevea Brasiliensis, is being considered as the major source of 99.9% 1,4-cis-polyisoprene. Till date, this grade of natural rubber is not manufactured synthetically even using sophisticated solution polymerization techniques and utilizing the most advanced catalyst systems. Rubber industries have been continuously thriving for an alternative as well as an additional source of natural rubber to compensate for the reduction in production of Hevea natural rubber and to reduce the consumption of petroleum-based rubbers. The present study deals with chemical grafting of phosphorylated cardanol prepolymer (PCP) onto the main chain of guayule natural rubber (GNR), which could impart inherent multifunctional characteristics to the rubber. The grafting of PCP onto GNR was carried out successively using benzoyl peroxide as a free radical initiator in the solution stage and the grafting parameters have been optimized through the Taguchi method using grafting efficiency and percent grafting. Grafting of PCP onto GNR (PCP-g-GNR) was confirmed through UV–Visible, FTIR, NMR and GPC analysis. Thermal behavior of PCP-g-GNR indicates a significant increase in thermo-oxidative stability and it also displays a slight depression of glass transition temperature as compared to GNR. The viscoelastic characteristics of GNR also alter and cure characteristic improves drastically in giving rise to improved processability after grafting of the PCP. The unfilled PCP-g-GNR vulcanizates show approximately similar physico-mechanical properties with 5 phr processing oil as plasticized GNR vulcanizates. Therefore, PCP-g-GNR can be used in rubber industries as gum rubber materials as it reduces the usage of processing aids significantly.  相似文献
