A fully integrated direct-conversion digital satellite tuner for DVB-S/S2 and ABS-S applications is presented.A broadband noise-canceling Balun-LNA and passive quadrature mixers provided a high-linearity low noise RF front-end,while the synthesizer integrated the loop filter to reduce the solution cost and system debug time.Fabricated in 0.18μm CMOS,the chip achieves a less than 7.6 dB noise figure over a 900-2150 MHz L-band, while the measured sensitivity for 4.42 MS/s QPSK-3/4 mode is -91 dBm at the PCB connector. The fully integrated integer-N synthesizer operating from 2150 to 4350 MHz achieves less than 1℃integrated phase error. The chip consumes about 145 mA at a 3.3 V supply with internal integrated LDOs.  相似文献

An RF front-end for dual-band dual-mode operation is presented. The front-end consumes 22.5 mW from a 1.8-V supply and is designed to be used in a direct-conversion WCDMA and GSM receiver. The front-end has been fabricated in a 0.35-μm BiCMOS process and, in both modes, can use the same devices in the signal path except the LNA input transistors. The front-end has a 27-dB gain control range, which is divided between the LNA and quadrature mixers. The measured double-sideband noise figure and voltage gain are 2.3 dB, 39.5 dB, for the GSM and 4.3 dB, 33 dB for the WCDMA, respectively. The linearity parameters IIP3 and IIP2 are -19 dBm, +35 dBm for the GSM and -14.5 dBm and +34 dBm for the WCDMA, respectively  相似文献

A single-chip, dual-band transceiver for CDMA2000 is presented. The design supporting the North American cellular and PCS bands features a complete zero-IF receiver, a direct-conversion transmitter and two fully integrated synthesizers with VCOs. The analog receiver front-end comprises two self-matched wideband LNAs, a highly linear demodulator and a third-order baseband filter. In a test version I/Q ADCs and a digital front-end (DFE) to provide channel and matched filtering are included to demonstrate the performance of a fully integrated analog/digital line-up. Measured maximum SNR values of 23 dB and 25 dB for PCS and Cell bands, respectively, are achieved. The transmitter comprises baseband buffers and filters, an I/Q-modulator and separate output drivers for each band. An analog gain control (AGC) for realization of a dynamic range is implemented and a maximum output power of at a total CDG4 urban current of 34 mA is achieved for the PCS band. Measured ACPR1 and values are and 0.998 for the Cell band and and 0.995 for the PCS band, respectively. The chip is fabricated in a 0.13 RF-CMOS process, occupies a die size of 8.4 and operates with a 2.5 V supply.  相似文献

An integrated fully differential ultra-wideband CMOS receiver for 3.1-4.8 GHz MB-OFDM systems is presented. A gain controllable low noise amplifier and a merged quadrature mixer are integrated as the RF front-end. Five order Gm-C type low pass filters and VGAs are also integrated for both I and Q IF paths in the receiver. The ESD protected chip is fabricated in a Jazz 0.18 μm RF CMOS process and achieves a maximum total voltage gain of 65 dB, an AGC range of 45 dB with about 6 dB/step, an averaged total noise figure of 6.4 to 8.8 dB over 3 bands and an in-band lIP3 of-5.1 dBm. The receiver occupies 2.3 mm2 and consumes 110 mA from a 1.8 V supply including test buffers and a digital module.  相似文献

A low-power fully integrated GSM receiver is developed in 0.35-μm CMOS. This receiver uses dual conversion with a low IF of 140 kHz. This arrangement lessens the impact of the flicker noise. The first IF of 190 MHz best tolerates blocking signals. The receiver includes all of the circuits for analog channel selection, image rejection, and more than 100-dB controllable gain. The receiver alone consumes 22 mA from a 2.5-V supply, to give a noise figure of 5 dB, and input IP3 of -16 dBm. A single frequency synthesizer generates both LO frequencies. The integrated VCO with on-chip resonator and buffers consume another 8 mA, and meets GSM phase-noise specifications  相似文献

A dual-band reconfigurable wireless receiver RF front-end is presented, which is based on the directconversion principle and consists of a low noise amplifer (LNA) and a down-converter. By utilizing a compact switchable on-chip symmetrical inductor, the RF front-end could be switched between two operation frequency bands without extra die area cost. This RF front-end has been implemented in the 180 nm CMOS process and the measured results show that the front-end could provide a gain of 25 dB and IIP3 of 6 dBm at 2.2 GHz, and a gain of 18.8 dB and IIP3 of 7.3 dBm at 4.5 GHz. The whole front-end consumes 12 mA current at 1.2 V voltage supply for the LNA and 2.1 mA current at 1.8 V for the mixer, with a die area of 1.2 × 1 mm^2.  相似文献

正A fully integrated multi-mode multi-band directed-conversion radio frequency(RF) receiver front-end for a TD-SCDMA/LTE/LTE-advanced is presented. The front-end employs direct-conversion design, and consists of two differential tunable low noise amplifiers(LNA),a quadrature mixer, and two intermediate frequency(IF) amplifiers. The two independent tunable LNAs are used to cover all the four frequency bands, achieving sufficient low noise and high gain performance with low power consumption.Switched capacitor arrays perform a resonant frequency point calibration for the LNAs.The two LNAs are combined at the driver stage of the mixer, which employs a folded double balanced Gilbert structure, and utilizes PMOS transistors as local oscillator(LO) switches to reduce flicker noise. The front-end has three gain modes to obtain a higher dynamic range.Frequency band selection and mode of configuration is realized by an on-chip serial peripheral interface(SPI) module. The frontend is fabricated in a TSMC 0.18-μm RF CMOS process and occupies an area of 1.3 mm~2.The measured doublesideband (DSB) noise figure is below 3.5 dB and the conversion gain is over 43 dB at all of the frequency bands. The total current consumption is 31 mA from a 1.8-V supply.  相似文献

A low power direct-conversion receiver RF front-end with high in-band IIP2/IIP3 and low 1/f noise is presented. The front-end includes the differential low noise amplifier, the down-conversion mixer, the LO buffer, the IF buffer and the bandgap reference. A modified common source topology is used as the input stages of the down-conversion mixer (and the LNA) to improve IIP2 of the receiver RF front-end while maintaining high IIP3. A shunt LC network is inserted into the common-source node of the switching pairs in the down-conversion mixer to absorb the parasitic capacitance and thus improve IIP2 and lower down the 1/f noise of the down-conversion mixer. The direct-conversion receiver RF front-end has been implemented in 0.18 μm CMOS process. The measured results show that the 2 GHz receiver RF front-end achieves +33 dBm in-band IIP2, 21 dB power gain, 6.2 dB NF and −2.3 dBm in-band IIP3 while only drawing 6.7 mA current from a 1.8 V power supply.  相似文献

We report on the front-end of a highly integrated dual-band direct-conversion receiver IC for cdma-2000 mobile handset applications. The RF front-end included a CELL-band low-noise amplifier (LNA), dual-band direct-conversion quadrature I/Q down-converters, and a local-oscillator (LO) signal generation circuit. At 2.7 V, the LNA had a noise figure of 1.2 dB and input third-order intermodulation product (IIP3) of 9 dBm. I/Q down-converters had a noise figure of 4-5 dB and IIP3 of 4-5 dBm and IIP2 of 55 dBm. An on-chip phase-locked loop and external voltage-controlled oscillator generated the LO signal. The receiver RFIC was implemented in a 0.35-/spl mu/m SiGe BiCMOS process and meets or exceeds all cdma-2000 requirements when tested individually or on a handset.  相似文献

This paper describes a direct-conversion RF front-end designed for a dual-band WiMedia UWB receiver. The front-end operates in band group BG1 and BG3 frequencies. It includes multi-stage LNAs, down-conversion mixers, a polyphase filter for quadrature local oscillator (LO) signal generation, and LO buffers. The UWB receiver is targeted for a mobile handset, where several other radios can be simultaneously on. Therefore, special attention was paid on minimizing the interference from different wireless systems. The front-end achieves approximately 26-dB gain and 4.9–5.6-dB noise figure (NF) across three sub-bands of BG1. In BG3 mode it obtains 23–26-dB gain and 6.9–7.7-dB NF. The front-end consumes 48.1 and 42.7 mA from a 1.2-V supply voltage in BG1 and BG3 operation modes, respectively. The chip was implemented in a 0.13-μm CMOS.  相似文献

This paper describes a single-chip CMOS quad-band (850/900/1800/1900 MHz) RF transceiver for GSM/GPRS applications. It is the most important design issue to maximize resource sharing and reuse in designing the multiband transceivers. In particular, reducing the number of voltage-controlled oscillators (VCOs) required for local oscillator (LO) frequency generation is very important because the VCO and phase-locked loop (PLL) circuits occupy a relatively large area. We propose a quad-band GSM transceiver architecture that employs a direct conversion receiver and an offset PLL transmitter, which requires only one VCO/PLL to generate LO signals by using an efficient LO frequency plan. In the receive path, four separate LNAs are used for each band, and two down-conversion mixers are used, one for the low bands (850/900 MHz) and the other for the high bands (1800/1900 MHz). A receiver baseband circuit is shared for all four bands because all of their channel spaces are the same. In the transmit path, most of the building blocks of the offset PLL, including a TX VCO and IF filters, are integrated. The quad-band GSM transceiver that was implemented in 0.25-/spl mu/m CMOS technology has a size of 3.3/spl times/3.2 mm/sup 2/, including its pad area. From the experimental results, we found that the receiver provides a maximum noise figure of 2.9 dB and a minimum IIP3 of -13.2dBm for the EGSM 900 band. The transmitter shows an rms phase error of 1.4/spl deg/ and meets the GSM spectral mask specification. The prototype chip consumes 56 and 58 mA at 2.8 V in the RX and TX modes, respectively.  相似文献

A 0.9 V 1.2 mA fully integrated radio data system (RDS) receiver for the 88-108 MHz FM broadcasting band is presented. Requiring only a few external components (matching network, VCO inductors, loop filter components), the receiver, which has been integrated in a standard digital 0.18 /spl mu/m CMOS technology, achieves a noise figure of 5 dB and a sensitivity of -86dBm. The circuit can be configured and the RDS data retrieved via an I/sup 2/C interface so that it can very simply be used as a peripheral in any portable application. A 250 kHz low-IF architecture has been devised to minimize the power dissipation of the baseband filters and FM demodulator. The frequency synthesizer consumes 250 /spl mu/A, the RF front-end 450 /spl mu/A while providing 40 dB of gain, the baseband filter and limiters 100 /spl mu/A, and the FM and BPSK analog demodulators 300 /spl mu/A. The chip area is 3.6 mm/sup 2/.  相似文献

A novel low power RF receiver front-end for 3-5 GHz UWB is presented. Designed in the 0.13μm CMOS process, the direct conversion receiver features a wideband balun-coupled noise cancelling transconductance input stage, followed by quadrature passive mixers and transimpedance loading amplifiers. Measurement results show that the receiver achieves an input return loss below-8.5 dB across the 3.1-4.7 GHz frequency range, max-imum voltage conversion gain of 27 dB, minimum noise figure of 4 dB, IIP3 of-11.5 dBm, and IIP2 of 33 dBm. Working under 1.2 V supply voltage, the receiver consumes total current of 18 mA including 10 mA by on-chip quadrature LO signal generation and buffer circuits. A highly integrated direct conversion receiver for cellular code division multiple access (CDMA) and GPS applications is successfully developed using a 0.5-/spl mu/m SiGe BiCMOS technology. The receiver consists of two low-noise amplifiers (LNAs), a dual-band mixer, two voltage-controlled oscillators (VCOs), a local-oscillator signal generation block, and channel filters. The CDMA LNA achieves a noise figure of 1.3 dB, an input-referred third-order intercept point (IIP3) of 10.9 dBm, and a gain of 15.3 dB with a current consumption of 9.8 mA in the high-gain mode. The mixer for the CDMA mode achieves an uncalibrated input-referred second-order intercept point of 53.7 dBm, an IIP3 of 6.4 dBm, a noise figure of 7.2 dB and a voltage gain of 37.2 dB. The phase noise of the CDMA VCO is approximately -133 dBc/Hz at a 900-kHz offset from a 1.762-GHz operating frequency. It exceeds all the CDMA requirements when tested on a handset.  相似文献
