Phytochemicals content and antimicrobial activity of Artocarpus heterophyllus, Cyclosorus extensa, Oldendia corymbosa, and Alpinia malaccensis were investigated. Maximum alkaloids and terpenoids were found in A. heterophyllus; tannins and saponins in C. extensa; flavonoids, polyphenols, and phytosterols in O. corymbosa and anthraquinone, glycosides, and anthocyaninin A. malaccensis. Aqueous, methanolic, ethyl acetate, and hexane extracts were prepared from all the leaves. Attenuated total reflectance Fourier transform infrared spectrophotometric (ATR-FTIR) analysis revealed that alkanes and alkyl halides were prevalent in all the extracts and the ethyl acetate extracts contained comparatively higher number of functional groups, which were also more effective against Candida albicans, Escherichia coli, and Staphylococcus aureus. The minimum inhibitory concentration values of A. malaccensis against the tested pathogens were found to be lesser than the other species.  相似文献

Dominant trends in analytical chemistry include miniaturization in sample preparation techniques and faster run times to provide high‐throughput screening, fast process monitoring and fast method development. This study focused on the application of narrow bore gas chromatographic capillary columns, 0.18 mm internal diameter, for brewing analyses. On these capillary columns, faster analyses could be performed compared to conventional GC capillary columns using 0.32 to 0.53 mm internal diameters. The robustness of the state‐of‐the‐art faster capillary gas chromatography, without compromising resolution, has been demonstrated with the analyses of beer flavour compounds such as lower and higher alcohols, esters and other volatile compounds such as acetaldehyde and dimethyl sulphide in beer. These methods were able to reduce sample run times by 60%.  相似文献

The current study presents the results of a survey performed to investigate whether different patterns of foam and lacing affect consumer beer preference and the perception of beer characteristics. The impact of three different levels of foam (huge, medium and little) at pouring, and two lacing patterns (very laced to not laced) during consumption, was evaluated on a set of 26 attributes by a panel of Italian beer consumers. Overall, beers which delivered a medium level of foam at pouring were considered by Italian consumers as the best dispensed, the most liked for their visual appearance, the most attractive to consume and the most likely to be purchased. Cluster analysis determined four groups of consumers with different preference patterns for beer foam and expectations for sensory characteristics of the beer. It was found that 80% of consumers preferred a medium level of foam and no lacing, whereas 20% of consumers preferred a high level of foam and lacing. Furthermore, for nearly 40% of consumers, foam and lacing patterns generated expectations regarding beer sweetness, bitterness, fruitiness, perceived level of alcohol, effervescence and the thirst quenching character of the beer.  相似文献

This paper reports the determination of aflatoxin B1 (AFB1), one of the most carcinogenic substances known. A multi-commuted flow injection–solid phase spectroscopy (FI–SPS) system combined with photochemically induced fluorescence (PIF) was developed, for the first time, for its quantitative determination. A strongly fluorescent degradation product was obtained on-line by irradiation with ultraviolet light. The determination was carried out by measuring the fluorescence intensity of the photo-product at 353/424 (λ ex/λ em), once retained on C18 silica-gel filling the flow-cell. A linear dynamic range of 0.09–12?µg?l?1, detection limit as sensitive as 29?ng?l?1 and a relative standard deviation (RSD) of 1.4% were obtained. The method proposed was satisfactorily applied to the determination of AFB1 in different types of beer (normal and non-alcoholic). Hydrophobic compounds were eliminated from beer samples and AFB1 was extracted with acetonitrile by solid-phase extraction on C18 sorbent. Recoveries of the target compound from spiked beers were between 94 and 106%. The results obtained in the analysis of real samples are in good agreement with those provided by a reference chromatographic method.  相似文献
