Semisolid metal forming requires special feedstock material with a fine-grained and globular structure to achieve thixotropic properties. A number of methods have been developed to produce such feedstock materials. Controlled Nucleation Method (CNM) is a new and simple, cost effective method that has been developed by the University of Queensland. The CNM process does not use the conventional stirring process, instead, it uses solidification conditions to control nucleation, nuclei survival and grain growth, thereby produce fine and globular structures suitable for semisolid forming. No specialised equipment is required. The method can produce both semisolid slurry for rheocasting and semisolid billet for thixocasting. It can be applied to a wide range of alloys and can easily be incorporated into existing metal forming installation. Semisolid slurries/billets of hypoeutectic and hypereutectic aluminium-silicon casting alloys, aluminium wrought alloys and a magnesium alloys have been successfully produced. 相似文献

A mathematical model has been developed to describe the velocity field in an agitated Al- 5Cu alloy in which B4C particles
were suspended at different loading rates of up to 40 %. The material system was agitated by means of an electromagnetic rotary
stirrer. The non- Newtonian behavior of the melt/solid slurry was allowed for using two models: the steady- state model of
Joly and Flemings and the model of Brown, which takes account of time- dependent behavior. Calculations have shown that the
two models behave similarly at high shear rates. In addition, if agitation was discontinued, very little time was required

采用搅融混台使SiCp与LY12复合;采用接触反应内生成,使TiCP与LY12复合,再经半固态挤压,获得两种复合材料板坯.实验结果表明,只要挤压工艺参数选择合适,便可制得合格的复合材料板坯。同时对挤压后的复合材料组织及性能进行了分析.与基体相比,复合材料具有较高的弹性模量、屈服强度和抗拉强度,并保持一定的塑性水平,可以满足随后再轧制等二次塑性加工的需要。 相似文献

The experiments for rheologic behaviors of semisolid continuous casting billets of A356 alloy in semisolid state had been carried out with a multifunctional rheometer. The results show that the deformation rate increases with loading time, the maximum strain reaches to 120% (which is one time larger than that of traditional mold casting billet) and the strain can be rapidly eliminated to 10% after unloading. Moreover, there is a critic stress for billet deformation even in semisolid state, which is named as critic shear stress. This stress increases with the decreasing of heating time. The theologic behaviors can be expressed by five elements mechanical model (H_2- [N_1|H_2]-[N_2|S]) and can be modified with the increasing of heating time. 相似文献
